  Seen any good movies lately?

  the husband and i went to see "house of the dead" the other night, and 30 minutes into it we had to leave because it was so horrible.

  rarely have i seen such bad acting outside of a highschool drama performance, and i have never left during a movie.. thing is, i love going to the movies, so it was a major disappointment.

  have you seen any good ones lately?

  1. Lord of The Rings...Two Towers is better than Fellowship, but they're both friggen awesome, and i can't wait for the 3rd.

  2. Empire of the Sun.. Old movie, late 80's, but really good, if you like historical stuff. About a little english kid getting seperated from his parents in Shanghai during the 2nd World War, and all the things he went through in the camps. Christian Bale as the little kid...Excellent movie.

  3. Yeah, i Love Office Space. That is SO my life. Cubicle, cubicle, cubicle.

  4. The Gift and also The Others, if you like ghost stories. Both are good.

  5. Any of the old John Hughes movies. (pretty in pink, etc.) I am a child of the 80's.

  Could Disfellowshipping Finish Off the Watchtower?

  let's do some speculative thinking about the watchtower's future!.

  suppose some holes are legally poked thru the watchtower's actions on disfellowshipping,.

  whether in the us or other countries.

  Here's a prime example of Young Children getting baptized, and the ramifications.

  At a hall i went to growing up, there was a young boy that got baptized around 11. He consequently hit his teenage years,
  and ended up getting molested and/or raped by a brother in the hall. This brother was subsequently df'd. The young boy, as
  far as I know, got no help and/or counseling for what happened to him, and was disfellowshipped about a year later for
  sleeping w/ a girl. (no doubt done because he had a lot of conflicting thoughts about the whole sex issue in his head)
  He was then disfellowshipped. Obviously, no compassion for him was shown by the JC, otherwise I doubt the poor kid would have
  been df'd.

  I just remember going to the meetings and seeing him so sad against the wall in the back. He was 15-16 years old, and
  his family would barely even talk to him. He eventually got reinstated, but last I heard, he was back out again, and
  his family now tells people "oh, we USED to have a son."

  I find all of this completely and totally abhorrant. How do you treat a little kid like that, when they've gone
  through that kind of trauma?

  And besides, most everyone knows my dirt, anyhow. I'm not pretending to have any sort of embarassment factor. This is the girl who can trip over nothing in a group of people, remember? What are you going to say that could possibly make me want to run and hide?? hehehe.

  That has to be one of the most disgusting things i have ever seen!

  I have a friend who can NOT cook. Her attempts at food for potlucks at work are so dang funny:

  Brownies that are burnt on the outside, oozing inside.

  Pudding cakes that she forgets to put the pudding into. ("wow...this cake is.....thick.")

  Luckily, her husband is a great cook, and usually makes the edible stuff for her to bring.

  I could see her making that gelatin thing.

  Baptized at 5.

  got this "experience" in an email.

  it was sent by a sister i used to know quite well, i think she sent it to encourage me, but it has had the opposite effect.. "____________________.

  baptized at age 5. the mother and father of a little girl had a bible study with xxx.

  I don't doubt it....my neice read at 3, and wanted to be baptized when she was 6 or 7..can't remember which...but WAY too young. They made her wait.

  I myself got baptized at 14, but only because my father, "super" elder, told me that if I didn't get baptized at the next assembly, he'd have to step down as an elder.

  What a load of ****, but he guilted me into it. Bet he wishes he didn't now.

  Are Witness Children Brighter than most?

  the recent thread about the 5yr old baptized got me to thinking....... i learned to read at an early age.

  i was also in all the gifted classes in school.

  i remember a great deal of the witness kids were in gifted classes.

  Odrade, you're a nerd...that's why you study so well. :)

  But, yeah...i think witness kids on the whole seem to be smarter. I know i read at a really early age, and my neice started to read at 3...and was reading my high school books by the time she was 6.

  It is being forced to sit still in meetings. Most kids don't have that attention span....trying to learn new information when you're running around doesn't really work.

  In answer to your questions...

  It was an old house, probably around 100 years old, in a old mining town. I don't know the history of the house, as it was empty for a couple years before we moved in.

  Never had anyone come in and investigate, or had anyone try and "bless" the house, etc.

  As far as things running behind me...yeah, in reflections, either mirrors, tv sets that were turned off, but catching sunlight, etc....not animals, definately human forms, but FAST....

  Other people have witnessed this stuff, yes....anyone who ever stayed overnight, my roommates at the time, and now my friend lives there, and he says his deaf dog wakes up for no reason from deep sleeps, and barks at one spot in the room....also, he's seen human forms run across the ceiling.

  Just weird stuff that goes on.
