  My mom called today

  I feel so bad for you...Like Sassy said your Mom obviously cares for you or she wouldn't make the phone call, and is scared if she gets caught talking to you for long she will be in trouble (due to her JW training). Maybe your boys can mail her a letter... can fill her in on everything and then they can say: Mom says...(fill in the blank...what you couldn't say when she calls you at work..) Just a thought....

  Gee, I wish I had a MOM...lost mine to cancer when I was 14....But it must feel the same to have one and not be able to communicate. You must have been a teen when you were df'd. My kids don't know how I feel about the "truth" right now...and won't, cause I was too good of a JW mother when I raised them...Maybe one day, If I can keep trying I can help them with the "real truth".

  Meanwhile, take care and know others here "feel" for your situation.

  Who Was The Very First Poster That You Met In Real Life?

  the first poster that i ever met was philo.. we'd traded a few stories via the site and i realised that we knew some of the same people down in portsmouth.. he was very cagey as to his real identity, but eventually we shared emails and he told me all about himself.

  one day, i took hl down to portsmouth to see my daughter who lives there.

  i'd mentioned it in a post, that i was going in that direction.

  The first person I met was Joy2bfree, she was visiting in my area, on an apostafest (oh, did I saw that???) Got her to come to my home, she brought with her a few other people...sweet people as well....but I also knew Joy2bfree in my frequent travels to where she lives!!! (Before she started posting here).

  After that I met someone I never knew other than the JWD board : Mulan and Big Red...we had breakfast one morning after I took Mr. CB to the airport.. I had a good time and Mulan was just as sweet in person as she is on the board..(Sorry Big Red...hadn't read any of your posts before I met you, I enjoyed the visit with you as well).

  last night mr. cb and i were watching the travel channel which had an interesting program about pretzels.

  the pretzel was originally made in 620 a.d. by the monks.

  the meaning of the shape of the pretzel we found even more amazing.

  Last night Mr. CB and I were watching the Travel channel which had an interesting program about Pretzels. The pretzel was originally made in 620 A.D. by the Monks. The meaning of the shape of the pretzel we found even more amazing. The monks made the shape of the pretzel, showing young children how to pray: represents your 2 arms crossing over each other and touching the shoulder.
  

  After seeing that new info I turned to Mr. CB and said: So the pretzel is PAGAN made by MONKS showing one how to pray...wonder if JW's know this, will they eat pretzels?

  Sleeping on your back

  i was raised a witness, so from an early age i got into the habit of bowing my head to pray.

  the idea was that to look up would be disrespectful.

  of course, it soon struck me that when praying in bed, you're brazenly staring straight up at god, so i started rolling onto my side to pray.

  I get to sleep either on my back or side...depending on the moment of comfort.

  did any of you ever miss the memorial while you were in?

  i missed 2 of them.

  once i had a very serious staff infection in my leg and i could not wear any pants or shorts because it ran all the way up my thigh.

  The only Memorial I have ever missed so far was when my son was born.....Ironically, he was born on Easter...you can imagine how excited the hospital staff was, "oh, you have an Easter Baby"...

  Is your marriage healthier now that you're out?

  i realize that some dear friends here have lost their spouse due to their jw "awakening", but for those of you where both of you are now out, do you feel you are a better husband or wife because of the experience?

  even if your spouse is still in, do you feel you are a better husband/wife?

  I have always been a good friend whether as a JW or not. I am very supportive and "real"...and "genuine"...My religious experience didn't add to me being a good friend...that is just the way I am.
