Can't you just FEEL the love?

had a call from an elder yesterday: "hi, this is elder n. we haven't seen you in a while, just checking up on you.

oh btw, we haven't received the eldersbook back from you........".

did he really wanted to see how i was doing?

Sounds like they want the book more than they do you...btw, are you going to give them their book back? Just wondering, maybe you could do a switch: elders book for your publisher cards and any info linked to the card? It is YOUR PUBLISHER CARD anyway.

Your phone call sounded like our "welcoming visit last Feb." We had just relocated to a new KH from a different state. The first 10 minutes was "nice and cozy" after that it got ugly. The elders said: " we are here to check on "irregular pubs"..."WE have to see your CARD to know if you are PEDOPHILES"....They said a few more unkind phrases to Mr. CB like: " When we come back, we are gonna make you eat crow." (They repeated that comment 3 times in 2.5 hours...all because they couldn't find a scripture to show why we need publisher cards) All's I could keep thinking is: Where is the LOVE?

I need a hug (vent)

why is it i always end up working for companies that don't give a crap about their employees well-being?

i've been here since march as a temp; got a full-time offer in december and almost immediately the workload has increased and there is no new hires are on the horizon.

the political games in some of these departments is mind-blowing.

I would offer to be your "temp" to help the overload, but since they won't hire someone I can't just march in!!!

I agree, it is hard to find a good company to work for that really "care" about a hard worker, like you. Keep on the lookout for a new job...leave your resume at temp agencies (I use to work at one, some will only hire thru temp services because of the screening process. A lot of state county and state jobs were issued thru our agency, in California)

The best offence for a job where you don't feel appreciated is taking the defence and looking for one that will!!!

Here's hoping you will find one soon.

Sleepless Nights..

don't you just hate them.

i seem to have a horrible habit lately of waking up at some ungodly hour (i can say that now right?)..

and then i can't fall back asleep.. i'm amazed how well i actually function the next day sometimes..

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with sleep!!!

I can sympathize with your problem, have had it since 1997. My ex left me that year, and I HAD to get up and go to work and really needed to be able to sleep and sleep all night. My Dr. prescribed Ativan (I took 1, 1 hour before bedtime) It worked so well...that I ended up taking it 3 years......NOT suppose to....since it is in the Valium family.

I got off of the Ativan by taking Amitriptyline, which is a anti-depressant that is prescribed for people with sleeping problems. It got me off the Ativan but I didn't like one of the side affects...pm. me if you want to know what it was.

Then a gal at work recommended Melatonin: worked ok, but I had to take 3 at least an hour before bedtime. And YES, I found a side affect that may NOT bother you but it was CRAZY NIGHTMARES...wow...that's all I can say.

Now I take 2 benadryls (they help my allergies too) and also 400 mg of magnesium and hour before bedtime.. Magnesium helps you to sleep.

Hope my suggestions can be of some assistance....Have you been to a Dr. for this problem? Underlying problems can determine why you have a sleeping disorder, some are medical. Depression is a huge cause for a lot of sleepless nights.

Everybody, I need your help re Daughter

as some of you know, when cj and i were married, i adopted her daughter, and raised her as my own.

i love her so much, i never referred to her as step-daughter, and never will.

she calls me dad, even though her biological father, somehow found his way out out of the woodwork, when she turned 18.

ok...it is not a matter of acting like JW parents here...you are still Parents and have the right to set boundaries that might affect your younger children at home. Nothing wrong with that.

XJW: ...Your daughter (you raised ) knows who her father is...YOU...you were there for her. I know this for a fact. In my first marriage my husband had a child from a previous marriage and called me MOM once he got full custody. Even when my ex (scumbag) left me, this child who was not my biological child, was there for me. He was so mad at his Dad he refused to talk to him for 2 years. Kids know who the "real" parent is and it doesn't have to do with biology.

pettygrudger and i jokingly chatted about writing a book about this subject...maybe just a "thread" could be of help to newbies that are having problems in learning how to associate beyond jw's.. any suggestions for this new topic?.

I would never laugh at you or anyone who really needs help. I have been a stay home Mom before, I can identify with your delima. When I was raising my sons, I was a full fledged JW, so like Petty said, you pretty much have "built in friends".

I just relocated a year ago....have no children (they are adults and married and live so far away that I rarely get to see them)...learned the truth about the "truth"(tm) and found myself in a similar delima of needing a new social circle. I have worked in the public before and am a "people person"....so it is easier to get a new life, but my husband travels out of town for work, so I have spent a lot of time alone.

You are not interupting this thread at all....it's for and about NEWBIES..that's you!!!

I did it ! I told my JW mother that I am pagan !

yes, i did it.. after the thread in which i asked how i could possibly tell my jw mum that i'm pagan....i decided to take the bull by the horns and tell her.. her reaction made me wonder if she reads this board.. firstly, to "ease" her in, i mentioned that i'm doing a course in reiki.

reiki is a complimentary therapy - basically hands on healing.

well, she said she knew a little about reiki and thought it was a good idea.

How long have you been practicing Reiki? Let us know if your Mom enjoyed her session of Reiki.

I am especially happy that you too are communicating so well. My Mom died when I was 14, and I would love to have a Mom to talk to and share things with. I am very happy for those that have such a loving relationship with their Moms...

Please don't isolate yourself...get out of the house!!!

Do you live in a subdivision that has many children? Go out and introduce yourself to your neighbors...invite some over for coffee and cake. Have a small party for the kids in your subdivisions so your kids can get to know other kids...or one family of kids over at a time. Make it simple: rent movies and have popcorn....These small parties don't have to cost a lot...

How large of a community to you live in?

I live in a small community of 15,000 and there are programs going on. Get your local paper. Sometimes a local hospital offers classes that cater to Moms...Look at info boards at the grocery store and dr.'s clinics....Go to your local library as well.

Do a search on your computer for info on developing social skills...I just did a lookup, there are many sites out there.

Loris gave you some great info as well...about getting involved in school activities.

Hope a few of these tips will help you!!!

So sorry all you readers here. I am NOT a violent person...I had been a very trusting, naieve JW wife.....let this be a lesson to all trusting JW wives...if you have doubts...they are probably true...If you don't...please start reading the signs and don't be so trusting with your husbands....
