i figured some of these ladies may have nothing decent to wear if they need to go job hunting, so my old meeting clothes, shoes, and handbags would at least serve a noble purpose in their recycled lifetimes.. for some reason, i hung on to them for the last several years, knowing full-well that i would never set foot in a kingdom hall ever again.

Ex Cult Members and Toxic Relationships

i've been thinking recently about how being an ex cult member affects the way i handle current relationships.. it appears to me that sometimes i am still influenced by the old way of thinking (jw way of thinking).

they teach that we should always be "humble".

they told us that we were imperfect.

Quite true!

I have found in the last few months that I have a very "low tolerance" to dealing with people or certain stressful situations. As soon as I feel the red flag.....I find myself resisting it.

Guess that has something to do with 36 years of not listening to any red flags and just "accepting things" because I thought it was the truth(tm).

i was speaking to a lady today who isnt a witness.

she's a very intellegent, well educated and well travelled girl, and she tells me how much she enjoys reading the watchtower and awake.

i said to her that she has to be joking, and she tells me that she she likes them a lot.

I have heard some "faders" keep getting them to keep up with stuff, to know what their adult children are being taught.......(Makes sense to me)

However, Blondie does a great job with the WT study...and that is the most important study with the JW's, right??????

Thanks to some that still go to d conventions and assemblies.......many here give updates...........so it's almost like being there.

Doesn't seem like a lot new is going on...except for the new tract campaign coming up.....does anybody know what that is entitled?

it was getting close to noon and elese decided to give her mother a call to let her know she was ready to be picked up.

sara said she had to stop by the kingdom hall to drop off some ice for the brothers doing the remodeling.

normal for young jws to have "worldly" friends

since many folks here were raised as a jw, just curious, when u were younger(20's).

did u have close worldly friends?

by friends, i don't mean just someone to go hang out at the mall or something.

My answer is NO, when I was that age having any close "worldly" friend was highly discouraged........only people in the truth were suitable friends and if they found out you had any "worldly friends", you were instantly marked "unspiritual".............so NO....I had no close worldly friends....

well i've spent a couple hours today getting my cameras ready.

which means cleaning them like a dentist with solutions, swabs, picks, fiberglass brushes, prayer *lol*, etc..they are going to be entered into the collectors competition at the state fair of texas in october.

i have three cameras, the max entry, all going back before the 1930's.

I am a photographer (love photography, never been paid for it)....never collected any cameras....But I fondly remember my start in 35mm photography. A guy in high school loaned me his 35mm range finder camera plus hand held light meter...........(I bet that is a collector's item today!!!)
