We have a new baby!
by cruzanheart inand his name is moose.
he's 9 weeks old, looks just like our dear departed dexter's baby pictures, and doesn't take any guff off ladybug.
after the initial shock of a wee thing following her everywhere, miss lady is starting to enjoy having a dog around who will actually play with her (dexter was very old when we got ladybug, and he was more inclined to growl and snap at her than play).

Higher Education
by eiu2003 inwell, let's try posting a topic.
one of the things i felt i missed out on while i was a witness, other than wild sex when young is higher education.
i quit hs to pioneer and now have just recently finished a college degree and am still working on my masters, but i find myself resenting that i have had to do this all at night and while in my forties.

yes....because I had to give up scholarships to be "approved by the congregation"...
They sure could have come in handy when my husband left me and I had a child to support.
I was upset when I read COC, where they actually sent Bethelites to college, during the 70's when we publishers weren't allowed to go.
Double standards are so hypocritical.

When You Were A Witness---Were You Ever On A Spiritual "High"?
by minimus ini knew soooo many jws that would get pumped up because of an assembly or elder's or circuit overseer's talk.
after hearing the reasons to pioneer, for example, some would wait in a line to get their applications from the service overseer.
some would go to their first district convention, see the "love" and want to get baptized.......were you one of those persons that ever found yourself "on a spiritual high"??

ok...I admit...I felt I had a spiritual high when I had some studies....or good return visits where I got to use the Bible.
It was good for me to have those "highs" because I was going thru some pretty terrible things in my life and those "highs" helped me feel "worthwhile".

Chevy:
I worked at a restaurant for almost 5 years!!!
During that time I saw 12 different General Managers.........because this restaurant was open 24/7 and 365 days out of the year...it was a highly stressful restaurant.
They wanted me to be a manager...but I declined because of the STRESS ...We had trouble getting and keeping "quality" people to work there....but a lot of it had to do with the management's style of managing...(if that makes any sense?)
However, the people person that I am, I did enjoy working there. But after almost 5 years, I got burnt out of working there...and of course I had a major move and took other kinds of employment .
Hope this kinda helps answer your question.

Do You Think Your Family & Friends Will Ever Get Out Of The Religion??
by minimus incan you imagine certain ones making it out of the religion, somehow, sometime?
?

My first response is "NO"...but here I am...and I never dreamed I would be...
You never can tell what will make a person do research on his own religion....be it hypocrisy or lack of love...

Disturbing phone call yesterday....
by codeblue ini would have posted this yesterday but for some reason it was unavailable.. i called one of my jw sisters, my turn to call.. a couple of months ago we all got together...hadn't seen any of them in 5 years.. well...she met my hubby and she said what he said was bothering her...i said: oh, i wasn't in the conversation what was it that bothered her....(my first mistake) seems like he brought up the un letter and something about what the real good news is.. she then started her hitler/nazi questions saying she is concerned about my spirituality....... i told her i have a relationship with jehovah and that is what matters...didn't stop her...i also told her i am a big girl and have taken care of my spirituality since i married the first time and left home.. i got off the subject by calling after my dog...and i was shaking the whole afternoon.. ya all know i am fading....geez...i wasn't prepared for this conversation...i am debating on telling her if she wants to continue a relationship with me then she needs to respect my spirituality and not question it...according to romans 14 where it says: each one has an accounting before god.
while i was married to husband #1 she never wanted to hear anything negative...so i had no support during that time and during my divorce as well.. she mentions she is concerned about my spirituality cause i don't talk about meetings or field service.
i would like to reinforce the fact that she doesn't like negative conversations, remind her of my marriage and divorce and after my divorce when i wanted to have an ear to listen to me, but she didn't...so since she set the rules of no negative comments that is why i chose not to talk about meetings or field service because they are negative>.

Pat:
I know what you are saying....you are so right!
I just have a very bad "gut" feeling about all of this...
Yes, if I could get some sleep and not be ALONE...I think it would help. This thing has spiraled me into a huge depression. NOdenial doesn't come home till Thursday after noon...home for 3 days and then gone again for another week.
Thanks again for your kind words!
