I didn't see this when it aired, I did see the last 10 minutes of the Dateline May 2002 that exposed the WTBS pedophile coverup.....that was a "defining moment" as Dr. Phil would say regarding a religion that I thought had "pure worship"... (still shaking my head)

I wanted to cry after reading your sweet post. That someone would be so kind and never have met me and actually "care" about me when family members don't.
I am indeed struggling with a broken heart. It is a pain that I felt as a 14 year old girl losing her Mom to cancer, and a divorce from a cheating jw husband.
I try to remind myself it is "cult talk"....and his "cult personality" taking over now. (I am really trying to think that, but the emotional pain seems to be winning...sigh)
Saturday night I was cooking dinner and crying........my little 6 pound dog looked up at me with rather sad eyes. I picked him up and he licked the tears off my face. I was astounded!!!

my grandmother is not a jw nor is my grandfather or my father.
she is however a methodist and i think she has a belief in jesus and that she is going to heaven.. i would like to use a short scripture in a card to her that might ease her mind a little in these last days of hers.
she was always supportive of me when i was a jw even though she didn't buy into no christmas, birthdays, the usual and always celebrated them with me anyway (like any good grandmother would do).. any suggestions would be appreciated.

The word "redefine" caught my eye. Which could mean setting boundaries as well in a relationship. Boundaries of respect for each of you to continue a "healthy relationship". ( wow, only 4 phone calls in a 6 year period? geez...)
It is painful to not be accepted by our family....and I am so sorry you are struggling with unloving family.

i want to contact my adult children and let them know i do love them.
they only 2 out of 4 called me and when they thought i would die from cancer wanted to get something.
i do really love my kids ages 26 to 32 and am so depressed tonite.

How well do I understand your emotional pain right now. I am going thru that with one of my adult kids.
My emotional reactions are much like yours and the pain is huge.
When we have insurance I plan on taking a trip to the dr.s....and find a good cult exit counselor in my area.
Remembering that our children are "speaking cult" talk is hard to do, but it is cult talk. (I try to remind myself of this...and it is hard to do when you feel like you are dead to your children, but IF they weren't in a cult, NON of this would be happening)
You have a lot of great advise here on your thread, and I am reading it and thinking about it...many people have have experienced this same problem.
You are greatly cared for here...keep rereading your thread whenever you are feeling down.

in all the years i was a jw, although i had many acquaintances, i only had 3 really close friends.
two of them are no longer jws.
one is trev, who is obviously a lot more than a friend to me now, and my friend marion left the wts a few months ago, with a lot of encouragement from me.. my other friend is still very much a jw, and when i was announced as no longer a jw last year, she phoned me to tell me how very upset and disappointed she was.
I am truly sorry for the pain you have just experienced.
You can't leave a cult............this just reinforces it.....
I am painfully reminded of it everytime I read the angry/mean email my adult child sent me almost 3 weeks ago....

I wish to thank all of you ... I am having a terrible time adjusting to the hateful email from my son.....
I have went thru so much since I was so young....I am tapped out....
we often heard this term being constantly shoved down our throats at the meetings at the kingdom hall.....but as i become older, (and hopefully wiser) i cannot for the life of me see where learning how to place/sell wts literature each week, can be classified as pure worship!.
for example: i attended a little church up the road from here last sunday night.
they were having their first-ever "worship night" that a couple of teen-aged girls had the idea to hold and arranged the whole event.
There is nothing pure about a group of people that conceal a pedophile.............and carry around the divine name as well.........

I guess in the late 60's it seemed "pure"..........(she died in the early 70's)
