JW Broadcasting is dying.
by John Aquila inonce a month about 15 to 20 elderly jw publishers would meet at the kingdom hall and one elder was assigned to set up the system so they could view jw broadcasting.
these publishers were long time pioneers, former elders, and long time publishers who know nothing about computers or the internet.
they are the last batch of those expecting the generation that saw 1914 or understood it--- to not die off.

Tight Pants Tony was insulting, degrading, total waste of air time most of the way. To me, he was the most embarassing and angering. Totally pushed me over. -

Good insights here. It will stretch you and sometimes may make you whince a bit . Sift what you need and what helps you. Reflections and critiques cannot hurt truth. The best advice I had was to take your time as you "peel the onion." The UN issue was my first big shock but I put it aside for years as I put aside doubts to "wait on Jehovah." Stumbled onto this forum after too much wierdness at KH sent me searching for help. It's been a year and a half since finding this site. Stopped reporting hours and all studies a year ago. Stopped attending since Memorial. Read Crisis of Conscience and working through In Search of Christian Freedom...also enjoy JWSurvey and John Cedars you Tube. My husband is supportive but not fully out. it is your journey so find the support you need. Group here is very supportive.

Disfellowshipping Image
by naazira inthis photo can be found in the april 15 , study edition article titled:.
why disfellowshipping is a loving provision.
just by looking at this image we can see how quickly the barrier between the congregation and former member is put up, after the announcement that this sister is no longer one of jehovah's witneses.

I see all the angles mentioned. I also can read into the oicture that the humble book bag was like here spiritual comfort bag and visual cue that she isn't all bad....she will be trying. She styed for the whole meeting so she has strong character....and obviously needs a dose of humble pie.
she now loses the girl club....the intimacy of friendship, love and support. Is that a family member hugging the other female? Her mother or sister? Best friend? Notice no one feels bad or any sign of empathy to her. She made her bed and can wallow in it. Everyone turn your back and act fabulous and talk about where you'll meet up after meeting for dinner. Ignore the bad girl.
Still...... I still wonder...
If she did commit a serious sin....you can still show bad for the circumstances being what they are, act civility and with respect. At some point we all have to get over it and show encouragement.

Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Brother Jeramy inallow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.
i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.
some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

I have tried to stay out of these discussions as I have been a fader with many issues to iron out in my awakening. I am not yet in what I would consider a new "normal" yet but long to be rectified, to be resolved, firmly decided.
I do not want to be a hypocrite and that is why pretty quickly I stopped turning in time and then made further strong moves to help myself have a clearer conscience. I still feel pulled to go to meetings but haven't been for many weeks now (spotty at best). I also am not comfortable coming out and publically being opposed....opening self to being DF with all the negative ramifications, Yet, I am being freer to associate publically and share things I do that I know would be frowned on. I feel the disapproval of this latest move and am now being "lovingly disciplined" by some of my "friends" (is that really christian??)
I am finding my courage to withstand it and more each day; some days better than others.
I think if you broaden your sphere beyond JWs, make connections and life beyond, you will gain new perspectives that will assist you in determining if your pseudo support is effective and healthy. Personally, I cannot preach what I do not support, even if they have some good points and some things "right". We aren't allowed to share anything we think is wrong, THAT is the point!!
The comments made by some here are like looking in a mirror to me now. It is painful what I "see" and feel....that I am still "delusional, under control of WT, somehow am complicit in the deaths and abuse of WT members by having been a somewhat blind and distracted follower all these years...." Ouch!!!
I reject any statement that I am complicit or guilty for WT policies/actions in causing harm to others just as I reject logic that as an American I am guilty of U.S policies and actions as government may have caused death and harm to its citizens or non-citizens, especially since I did not vote for such policies, had no control or played no part in enacting them, and in many cases was not aware of them. As I know more, I take action where appropriate. However, natioanl citizenship is more complicated and a bigger issue so not to compare it with the ease of distancing yourself from an organization. i do not agree with many U.S. Policies but will remain an American. i cannot say same thing for WT. I am distancing myself and someday may find that words come out of my mouth...I am no longer a JW. New people know me as christian or ?? Do not wan to align myself with any religious affiliation/holiday/group.
BJ and Introvert, don't take this all of this thread too personally but think about it for a while. The "pen" here is very sharp but make good points. I had a few friends in org, but majority shallow and conditional. I need and want more as I (and my family) was never and never will be "good enough" to be acceptable by the majority of this org other than when I can bring my free labor or checkbook to the next donation request or Avon/Melaleuca party.
It's a journey. Keep all the loving, supportive, ethical principles and question /distance yourself from those that cause harm, destruction, pain. There are other ways to be "in service". My family is more involved with charities now and meeting many wonderful people.....
I want to share one more thing....I used to somewhat be fearful to share my charity work but no longer. I am surprised by some of the reactions from online JW friends - some no longer respond to me now but remain connected (lurking?), some have shown interest and public support (hmmmm). Try a different type of service that gives practical help to needy and see how you feel compared with offering JW literature at doors and see how you feel.
Peace,

A new study of brain activity in depressed and anxious people indicates that some of the ill effects of depression are modified - for better or for worse - by anxiety.
by Elsewhere inone of the things i have to deal with after my jw experience is depression and anxiety.
sometimes i will become overwhelmed by them.
sometimes i'll wake up around 2 or 3 am and lay in bed experiencing extreme anxiety and worry about... whatever (you name it).

Dangerous "Pent up" feelings inside of most witnesses?
by stuckinarut2 ini have often wondered if there is more harm done to people who are stifled or smothered from expressing their natural conduct, feelings or actions because of it being condemned by religious ideals?.
so if a person keeps suppressing their real personality and tries to mould themselves to the "perfect" or "ideal" version as expected from those controlling them, could they eventually "bust" so to speak?.
for instance, witnesses condemn many forms of entertainment.

I am becoming more aware recently of how much damage I must heal from to be "normal" again. At first I wa insatiably reading and losing fears to read more as I quieted my mute trepedations. Now I am determined to get better but recognize I am in unhealthy state.... No self esteem, hyper sensitive to abusive speach or manners at work or in world. Still feel between worlds at times. Tremendous concern about what others think of me and yet an attitude of anticipation that I'm already written off...loser, dissappointmnet, weak and unworthy...fool.
A big part of me is okay and I do venture out but I want to just stay away much of the time and work on healing, find work that supports me and find contentment again. I aspire to find joy again after I bury anxiety. Online resources and books, when I have time, is my main source of help. Thank you for posting. I resonate with so many posts in this thread. I concur, the damage is very real.
