The moon on Memorial night always seems to be very cool.

just found out the memorial is this coming friday, which is good friday, don't recall that happening before, or has it?.
just seems strange that the dubs would celebrate their only special day on the same day that christendom celebrates as well..
The moon on Memorial night always seems to be very cool.

When you're connected, you're connected.
To those in the same boat, you're not alone.
We get it, and you.

i've been looking on this site for some time but never posted.
i'll give a little about myself, but not too much.
i'm a ex-bethelite ( brooklyn )and currently serving as an elder (10 years) (thinking about stepping down) on the service committee.
Thanks for sharing, Mr Theocratic.
Without a doubt, I know my 70-something parents believe to the core and act accordingly.
I can't imagine what must go through their minds about it all at this point in their life.

oh, there is one brother that keeps prattling on about "the 5 pillars of faith and worship".
- prayer.
- personal study.
I was raised with the same "five fingers" as life is to short described.
I was so fond of my study mentor when I was a teen. She and her husband took me under their wing in the mid-80s and I hung on her every word. I could have sworn there was another way the "5 things" were described to make it easy to remember. That red Live Forever book seemed like the end all.
Here we are 30 years later.
Wow.

was just thinking of how i used to sit in audience growing up at the kh hearing of "those in noah's day" eating and drinking and what not during some wt article.
i thought, "those poor people, doing what their hearts desire, and then perishing because they were not people of jehovah.".
they lived, partied and died.. we don't live any differently today.. we are those people.. we thought we were the exception.. fools we were.. phae.

We don't live any differently today.
We are those people.
We thought we were the exception.
Fools we were.

all they want is some spiritually-qualified publishers blind individuals who believe they are god's mouthpiece on earth.
no wonder their artwork is so poor.. .

I just want to know, how can someone be qualified for this type of work without seeking higher education?
Osmosis? As if the skills automatically embed themselves within people without professional training. And I like how they are sure to mention further down in the letter:
Please note that we are not encouraging individuals to pursue higher education or university
degrees to obtain skills related to art and graphic design. (w13 10/15 pp. 15-16 pars. 13-14)
Lovely mixed message. They need specialized degreed skills at Bethel (preferable volunteer), 'but YOU shouldn't go and pursue training for them. How dare you aspire to wanting to be a graphic designer! We'll never have a need like this again... But, if you already possess these specialized skills and obvious experience (Art Director), come on down!'
I'm sure they'll be looking for a BA + on a resume for that laundry list.
Hypocrites.

i would like your thoughts, please..
Of course I would. My parents are both in their mid-70s and most likely will be "in" until the end of their days.
Their freedom of religion, choice, and belief system is their own and would be honored by me, just as I would hope to be treated (though I most likely wouldn't by them is another issue entirely).

standing up for yourself, and deciding to follow your own path takes strength .
you have to be strong especially if you were raised in a way of life that dictated so much of who you were .
while being raised as a jehovah's witness i was taught to follow ,unquestionally follow .i was told to put others before myself ,serve, don't stand out ,don't be independent .
That was beautiful, troubled mind.

a wall is a wall, right?
question: what if each day a brick was removed and replaced with wood?.
the watchtower religion pretends to be like a brick wall built of truth.. however, each brick of truth been replaced with wood (changing opinion.).
Terry,
I mark you a "G" on good use of illustrations.

anyone finding themselves being labeled as "too nice" or "polite" after being a lifelong jw and integrating into the "new world" of realistic beings?.
Affirming of the best kind! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, everyone.
My sense of neutrality has served me well, but I can really ramp it up on the assertiveness front.
Hortensia, love that!
