i am sorry for the title but today just took the cake.
after not going to the meetings since august and trying to sort through this with my family, my wife today told me she wants to separate because of our differences over being a witness or not.. this is ridiculous.
so i said- how can you separate from me when the religion you whole heartedly believe says you can only separate for 3 reasons- abuse, willful non-support, or stopping her from her meeting attendance, etc.
Am sorry about your situation.
The three reasons for separation is new to me.
I was under the impression the bible allows for separation/divorce only in case of infidelity.
Nonetheless,I sympathize with your situation. Hope she thinks things over and changes her mind.

So far every religion concocted by men, on this planet, has failed to prove on even a portion of their contorted"truth" being compatible with the real world. Or being possible in the real world.
And then again you have "philosophers "; Arriving at their own facile conceptions of what makes humans and "creators" tick.
Isn't the latter the forerunner of the former? Which came first? Religionists or philosophers?
why did you become a jw, what particular teachings attracted you to 'the truth' ?.

in my case (baptized at 20/21) it was the only religion i knew; my mom, her mom, and favorite sister were jw; and the teachings of no hellfire or immortal soul made sense to me.. .
Tearing down of a mainstream church's doctrines by my BStudy friend , and later, I convinced myself that these guys couldn't be lying- what would they have to gain? Didn't have access to TTAT or JW Facts or freminds.org etc. Got to these sites after the convention in 2007.
when confronted with all of the inconsistencies and atrocities of the bible, many believers invariably claim that they don't base their faith in christ on what's written in the bible.
so what is the basis then, if not scripture?.
and please don't tell me "the lord has revealed himself to me".

so, about a week and a half ago i finally realized that i am not longer one of jws, since i don't believe they are god's organization.. however, for two weeks, i have slept horrible!

this is the quality spiritual food that the governing body claims is the basis for jesus appointing it as the faithful and discreet slave in 1919 according to peter gregerson in his talk on youtube.. from what i understand there are some really fantastical claims and ideas in it.
there is no way they are appointed by god if this is the basis for the appointment.

the watchtower bible and tract society has no interest in an effective evangelical program of conversion.. would that sound silly?
