My life ... and how JWD came to be - Part 3
by Simon infor me, the walls of the watchtower were not destroyed by a single giant cannon-ball but rather every brick had been weakened and suddenly the whole thing just 'collapsed'.. i've alwys been an avid reader and a firm believer that you can learn anything and everything from a good book.
anyway, i was reading a bad book, the creation book, and this time things were different.. normally, the mere thought that the wts could "not be right" could not even be contemplated.
it was like you can't even comprehend the concept or understand the question, least of all imagine it.. yet now, i read the book and things were screaming at me from the pages.

The Borg's thimble and pea trick
by ozziepost inremember that magic trick with the thimbles and the pea and you have to guess where the pea is?
somehow it was always switchedbut you didn't notice.. the wts are masters of this when it comes to describing their teachings.. the watchtower of february 15 invites people to join witness congregations:first-century christians also gathered together in congregations.
(acts 2:41, 42, 46; 1 corinthians 1:1, 2; galatians 1:1, 2; 2 thessalonians 1:1) the same is true today.

Very interesting post!
I am wondering how long it will be before I am able to read the bible without automaticaly reading in W/T interpritations. They are very good at what they do.
Brain washing is a scary thing.

However, I would appreciate their sincerity more if it extended throughout the year and not just at Memorial time, because then I think that perhaps they're just trying to pump up their stats instead of really caring about me and my spirituality
Cruz, my thoughts exactly.
I have still not decided what to do about the memorial this year. It will be my first year if I don't go. Not even sure why I am even thinking about going ....

Has anyone ever munched at the memorial?
by Sirius Dogma ini have always wanted to do that at a kingdom hall.
over the past few years i celebrated pesach (passover) with some jewish friends and it was so cool to be able to munch the food.
besides the jewish tradition was much more fun and was more like a party.

A couple of years ago of years ago my very young kids ( 3 & 5 at the time ) were given some of the bread after the meeting! aparently it was just handed round the the little ones. when my husband was an elder he sometimes got to take the wine home. not after we were married though! unfortunatly.

my first post in this forum
by trumangirl inhello, just introducing myself.
i'm an inactive witness, been so for a few months now.
got put off mostly by 1914 being hammered more and more lately, the child molestation issue, the un-ngo thing and just feeling like i don't want to shoot my mouth off and get labelled apostate so best to fade out.

I am fairly new here too, and in a similer position. I have been "fadeing" for about a year. same reasons as yourself. I find this site very helpful, hope you do to. there is a lot of support here.
don't know about the paul thing but sounds very interesting, i will be looking out for any info on that.

hi joel, i am new here so first of all "hello!"
hypocrisy is infuriating and you make a good point. i just want to point out though that we all are guilty of this at times but not always intentionaly. life is usually stressful for most of us and it is easy to get so rapped up in our own problems that we forget to look out for the needs of strangers,or even people we know.
when i watch appeals on t.v. for various charitys, i always want to help but tell myself i cant give to them all, so i just continue to suport the ones that realy hit home, then i will sit down to a meal, knowing that people are dying of starvation, others are sleeping on the streets and need to put their lifes' at risk just to eat.
i am just saying we are all guilty of not doing enough for the needs of others.

Please wish me luck...
by safe4kids ini've got the first part of my state certification this morning...a three hour exam covering the last month and a half of training on state law, the judicial system, case practice, interventions, indicators of maltreatment and abuse et cetera and i've got anxiety out the wazoo (btw, does anyone know what a wazoo is??).
i have to pass this in order to keep my job and i've heard that it's pretty difficult, so i'm stressing just a wee bit.
i'm thinking the gallon of coffee i've already had this morning may not have been such a good idea??
