Sorry Vidqun, I wasn't comparing myself to other men around me. In today's climate I'd say I was about average in the goodness stakes. No, I'm comparing myself to the actions condoned by the god of the bible, Enshrined for all time by him as an example for us to follow.

It's bad stuff.

IF there is a creator (which would be nice) and IF he\she\it is interventionist but has just popped out to the shops for 10 fags and a banana Yazoo for the last 6,000 years and IF they're the judgemental sort then I guaran-goddam-tee that they will be very unimpressed by bible followers!

I have a son. I, along with my wife, created him. Although I expect him to accept my rules (as soon as he's old enough to understand them), I in no way feel that he belongs to me in any possessive sense. This is because I adhere to a higher moral code than that of bronze age goat herders who felt that children and wives were possessions.

Does this make me better than god?

this is my current bottom-line conclusion after starting to see through the jw game 3 to 4 years ago and going through my own process of waking up.

it helps to write it down and put it "out there".

i hope it helps or resonates with you in your own personal process.. basically if i were given 10 seconds to say something to an active jehovah's witness that i cared about it would be the headline above.

@Perry I'm genuinely interested to know if you can provide one example of a bible character exercising faith as we are expected to today, without proofs?

I can think of examples when bible characters demanded proofs before getting on board, a fleece in the middle of a threshing floor covered with dew or something... but I can't think of any examples where a bible character took a leap of faith blindly.

yesterday, i was feeling very blue.

this is quite unusual for me, as i tend to be quite an upbeat, positive person, so spells of sadness or depression take me by surprise and are a real shock to the system.

you know, i don’t believe in “putting on a face” or pretending to be ok; this “fake it ’til you make it” malarkey has never been something i’ve liked.

I have explored my passion for the natural world and have focussed on a particular interest of mine: Lepidoptera, moths and butterflies. There's a lifetime of study here and it also gets me out of the house and into the woods, which is good for the soul even if you aren't interested in little flying critters!

How do i keep seeing my daughter when she turns 18

hi.i have a 13 year old daughter that i still have for a limited time as she comes to stay about one night a month at present.the law here in australia is on my side in that the australian governments stand is that the child needs regular access to both parents .

i am currently arranging for mediation to have her more often .

her mother can not stand that i am living with another woman and doesn't want her here .

I don't know if you've heard of this cult called the JW's Nathan Natas? They remove free will from people by coercion techniques that affect all aspects of their lives, even when it comes to family relationships.

Agnosticnow's very valid concern is that this sick method of controlling people will take his child from him. If I was in their position I would also be looking at all avenues of countering the indoctrination with the hope of maintaining my relationship with my child.

so--ive bought a house--got the keys yesterday--took a car full of stuff over to it today--i'm upstairs--heard my wife talking to someone downstairs at the doorstep.............. yep--2 dubs--handing our invites to an assembly next month.

but its in a town called bournemouth ( uk )--which means an hours car journey--plus a very expensive ferry crossing.

( i live on an offshore island ).

Actually the father starts doing backflips of joy from the moment the prodigal appears on the horizon. He might have been coming back to give his dad a quick update on how he loves lying with pigs for all the father knows.

hi i was raised in the truth in the uk since my birth in 1970 i went wayward as my family left in 1981 when i was 11 never took a career just wasted my life away now i'm 46 i rejoined when i was 22 rose to be a auxiliary pioneer and ms then it all went wrong my wife diagnosed bipolar disorder i got diagnosed depression a mega implosion occurred now i'm lost what now ?.

Hi openheart,

my non-JW wife is bi-polar as well, it's been incredibly hard over the years so I understand your pain.

My advice with regards to your wife would be to talk to a professional, the sooner the better. Talking to my wife on my own ended up in endless circles that just repeated every time she was at the top or the bottom of her mood cycle. You need that dispassionate outside viewpoint to break the cycle.

Hi samj,

Either the Organisation is right or it is wrong in what it teaches (you can't be partially right with divine stuff, it's an all or nothing deal). If the Organisation is right then what are you messing around at? If the Organisation is wrong, then it's your wife who is on a downward spiritual path just by following the Organisations teachings.
