  Need help understanding scriptues in Mathew. just trying to show my wife the BORG is soooo wrong

  as you know i am still in but have no strong conviction for this cult..but i still go because my wife is still asleep to the false teachings.

  for a few months now...when we have family study it is stricly from the bible.

  which is great, while we study we are taking the bible as it is, i think it is opening her eyes and how important jesus is.

  should there be a rule against posting PMs ?

  most people feel that it is unethical to post private messages.. how ever there does not seem to be a posting rule against it.. some people unfamiliar with posting on boards may not realize that it is not done to post private messages .

  ( even though it would seem self evident with the word private in it.).

  so what do you think about making it an official posting rule?.

  Nic: thanks for your input. I can see where this could be a matter of "conscience".

  I read the link and fyi I felt you were very tactful.

  I think using someone's pm to embarrass them is definitely not cool.

  Simon I just want to say I think you do a great job on this site.

  Ps my favorite part of this site is the personal experiences. The down side is that I always want to know how things turn out. So I like to pick a poster and follow their story. Unfortunately sometimes they don't update and I am left hanging. I have turned into a compulsive thread bumper.

  Anyone else have after the meeting stories?

  One happy memory is the get togethers after the meeting. When I was little one of the things I looked forward to was the stop at the 7 to 11 for an icee on the way home.

  I remember taking the kids out after the meeting as a treat.

  Miss. Fit who knows how to bribe ( er train )her kids on meeting days.

  i'm new around here, but i've been browsing the site the last few days in hopes of finding the answer to the situation i've been going through, so hopefully you can help me.

  i met this girl in highschool, but never really spoke with her until about a year after i graduated.

  she's three years younger (however it's legal where i'm from, don't fret) and still a teenager.

  Bttt... this is very interesting. I like how people here can have a respectful discussion about their various understandings.

  I applaud the obvious restraint of some of the posters ( you know who you are) as they honestly share their many years of research. They understand that everyone here must make their journey at their on pace. Some things that seem so obvious now took time to be clear.

  Those of you who are fairly new here, please keep an open mind. You have spent years learning how to repeat back what you have been taught without really thinking it through.

  I would automatically repeat a pat answer that I was taught. I assumed the WT did the research needed and also had a special connection to the Holy Spirit, so everything they they wrote must be accurate. I didn't think I needed to research further. These seasoned posters on this site showed me how wrong that thinking was.

  Op: Good for you. You are trying to discover what is true without the WT . Just remember you do not need the publications to still be influenced. It will take while to sort through what you thought was true and what you can prove to be true.

  some of you do not believe in god.

  some are not sure.. i was told recently by a friend to pray to god for help and he would comfort me.. my first impulse is to pray.

  Welcome Phae: I am glad you found this topic helpful.

  I started this thread in a dark place. I was feeling isolated . I realized that many of these posters could relate and my feelings were not abnormal. I got wonderful feedback and support.

  I see you are fairly new. Go slowly. You have time to make up your own mind.

  There were some things I was not ready to delve into. So I ignored those issues and doctrines.

  I was still coping with realizing the bible accounts weren't literal. I started thinking logically and objectively after reading some threads and the links provided.

  I had automatically accepted every thing I was taught without question.

  Keep searching and discovering at your own pace.
