KH 1st timer, could use some advice
by rathernotsay inhey people, .
i am soon going into a kh for the first time and i could use some advice around etiquette etc.
i know next to nothing besides the fundamental beliefs of jws, i personally dont believe in any religion, and that stance isnt ever going to change, however i don't want to come across as rude or disrespectful.

HeyThere
My jw spouse also cheated on me...and ran back to the kh after being caught although he had been inactive for over a decade. I initially went with him to the hall, but soon realized all the manipulation and falsehoods that are commonplace in the religion. I don't go anymore, my husband has finally accepted that I will not ever be a jw. But it is challenging. Especially with kids. Good luck. -

"Demonic games to keep people so much on edge, they think they don't have time for Scriptural things. So sad!"

HeyThere
I wish I could still read the comments on the case, they just bury their heads and defend the society...but even some of the other public threads on there are...well, bonkers. Like talking about what they will do after the gt, or talking about getting the call to go underground for the gt, or concluding that the Fishkill apartment purchase could be to house the resurrected ones or be their home after the gt...and this is public, I can only imagine the private stuff, good gawd. -

Leaving Christendom for the Kingdumb Hall
by gone for good inmost of us old timers left behind a stable, respected, religious heritage in our disillusioned haste to join a stupid cult.. as i recall, there was no rite of dissociation required - no reason offered to your church, no resignation required - it was a non-event from the dubs viewpoint.
what was your experience?
were you expected to do or say anything as you abandoned your spiritual heritage to become a drone in the watchtower hive?.
-
HeyThere
When I became an unbaptized publisher, I was instructed to write a disassociation letter to a church I had attended as a kid. Which was very weird to me. I almost forgot about this, but it was another thing that made me question the religion. Just...weird. then the sister I studied with kept asking me if I had written said letter. I never did, such a stupid thing. -

Are Parents Who Shun Their Children At Risk?
by Englishman inwho looks after the welfare of ageing witness parents who have disfellowshipped children?
are these df'd children (actually, some of these df'd children are in their 60's) meant to ignore being ignored and then care physically for their non speaking parents?
also, can df'ing your own children lead to witness parents suffering illness or even death as a result?.

This is so sad to read. Hard for me to imagine shunning. I absolutely hate what this, and other high control religions, do to family. -

Paranormal Witness
by Clambake indoes anyone watch this show?
it literally scares the hell of out of me..
does anyone here have an interest in the paranormal, demonology , ghosts or general weird stuff.
-
HeyThere
I havn't watched the show...and I've generally been a skeptic of these types of things, and ghosts, etc...until recently.
At the risk of sounding like a nutter, I will share a little about my experience, which, unless I had experienced it myself, i wouldn't believe.
Recently, someone very close to me died. It was rather sudden, yet expected, due to the situation of it being a late diagnosed disease that left then hospitalized for the last weeks of their life. I was one of the few people who basically lived at the hospital with them to the end, and thus was there when they died.
Numerous things have occurred since the time of death that have changed my mind. Nothing scary. Really, it has been more comforting. And the experiences have been had by multiple people, including myself, who were the closest to this person.
Individually, each occurrence would have been attributed to coincidence. However, the sheer number is undeniable. This person seems to be communicating still with her loved ones. Children, parents, close friends and family have all had experiences, some occurring when several such people were together. It's been fascinating.

Pick your belief system
by Giordano ini think we've all noticed a ton of newbe's these past months.
one part of escaping or thinking about escaping the jw's is coming to terms with what you believe now and/or what direction you are leaning towards.. here is a site that has a quick quiz that may be of some worth or just for fun.
i took it when i first signed on here and the results surprised me because it was pretty accurate.. you don't have to sign up for anything and when you finish you will get a percentage answer on 20 major belief systems.

A Question for Underground Apostates, How Many Are There?
by Village Idiot inwhen i first came to this forum i was of the belief that those of us who were still in due to family reasons were few in numbers perhaps one in a thousand in the jws.
soon i came to the realization that there were many more.
we have dozens of posters here who are mentally out but still in.

HeyThere
I know of at least one. She told me one time her ideal day in field service would be to go shopping and have lunch. Lol. The other sister has made some telling comments as well. I love when I hear it.
