How much damage has internet done against the The Watchtower Society ?
by opusdei1972 inin the beginning of internet the society was worried about the information published exposing its falsehood.
so, i wonder how many people lost the society on account of forums and web sites like this.

HeyThere
There is a reason why there are so many talks discouraging the internet and independent thinking...if the actives actually researched the religion on the internet and thought "independently" there would be many more leaving. -

'Conti' Court decision secures Watchtower's Policy of confidentiality
by telemetry11 inthe court on the rule of confidentiality of penitential communications and evidentiary privilege--.. decision reads:.
"the law generally protects the confidentiality of communications with clergy like those of kendrick to the elders here.".
"if the person has a constitutional right to independence in making religious choices, the recognition of an evidentiary privilege is an apt means of protecting that autonomy.

I thought he wasn't charged in the Conti case because of the statute of limitations?
And Conti has expressed numerous times she is wanting change in the org. She was not after money, she was/is after change. Money is a side effect of that, corporations typically don't change unless the risk of not changing is too great. The Cost of Doing Business has loss from various sources calculated into their budget planning as well as corporate policy.
For example, many companies will do things they aren't supposed to do knowing they will have to pay substantial fines, because they make more money even after paying the fines by doing things they aren't supposed to. This is widespread.
WTBTS being hit hard monetarily, enough for them to actually feel it, is the only way to force change. Otherwise, its just a cost of doing business.
And stop being so hostile. Its unattractive. π

Being shunned only increases my certainty that the WBT$ is a cult
by punkofnice inwell, i don't wanna rant too much but sometimes things cut you don't they.. a family member had a get together for the family, jw and non jw and of course i wasn't invited being da'd.. i understand why they couldn't invite me but it just made me think.
in normal society this wouldn't happen.
i'd have been there.. the shunning is so unnatural and damaging.

Miami Herald Article on Witnesses in a Closed World Preaching.
by MagicMItchJensen in"we are only trying to get people to read their bible", i wish i knew witnesses who took the bible as serious as they do the publications(still most dubs don't read all jehovah's urgent lifesaving message printed by the slave!
that's very sad if we offer the magazines to people were not reading, that's being a hypocrite, right?
), most can't keep up with the reduced spiritual food the organization has lovingly cut in half so all the witnesses can keep pace with jehovah's chariot!

HeyThere
This article is rather entertaining. The writer basically refers to the witnesses as salespeople multiple times and also essentially says the business model is old and...quaint. hahaa I wonder if the witnesses were excited about this article. I am used, thank you for sharing.

HeyThere
I think that I sprouted a few gray hairs and had to fight the urge of posting something i may regret on fb after watching this crap. While I'm not surprised I am quite offended as a "worldly" mate this cult is so insistent on painting in such a negative light.
Hell, the negative mate in my marriage is the jw brother who thinks shunning his wife and throwing away her belongings just for asking questions about the cult is acceptable. F**k watchtower hate promoters. I should have a wonderful time when I see my MIL after she attends this hate and lies convention.
π¬
I did laugh as well watching this mess. First, good old rubber face. π Just...I think that's about it the worst I've seen him...great intro to a hate fest. Also, was that guy the oldest HS senior ever? He has to be at least 30. π²
I didn't get to watch it all, could take all that spiritual food from Jehovah in one sitting.π

having a dark night of the soul
by Miss Behaving ini'm writing this here because i need someone to talk to, and you're the only folks i know who will understand.
most of the time i think i'm a pretty happy and together person, but lately, i'll see something that reminds me of my family and i'll spontaneously start crying.
i miss them so much and my heart keeps breaking, and even though i have kind people i work and volunteer with, i feel so incredibly lonely sometimes.
-
HeyThere
Miss Behaving, sending you hugs and love. I'm so sorry for what you are dealing with. I too struggle with finding myself in a dark place from depression. The way my own husband has been treating me devastating. I also recently lost a very dear dear friend to cancer and that is constantly on my mind.
When I feel myself going there, I try really hard to find positive thoughts. Living life can be soooooo hard at times. I can't get into much detail but this past year has been horrendous.
But I love living life...my kids, siblings, pondering existence, being around my non jw family and all the nieces and nephews and such. Beautiful places to visit, wonderful books, etc. There are so many lovely things to enjoy in this life.
Know that your struggle, no matter how dark you are feeling it now, is temporary. you will get through this. I have found that the jw relationships are so conditional. They can disappear so quickly. They are trained to shun, my own husband has been playing that game with me. That is not the way true friends treat their friends.
But I have so many wonderful friends that are not Jehovahs. And family not in.
Have you tried reaching out to your family?

HeyThere
I have heard some. Such weird stuff. But I have heard it from both jws and from another person who went to a methodist church...
The methodist one: she went to mothers home and had little demons chasing her around the house. So that is why she had sex with the neighbor in the closet. Those demons made her do it. π² she was asking for prayers to free her from those demons. So not just weird jw stories but I'm sure you see why this young woman would be claiming a little demon action π
Now for the jw ones, and this was told to me by the sister I studied with me (and my kid wtf!!)
She apparently purchased earrings from a garage sale. The day she purchased them she started feeling sick, and the next day was violently sick. She couldn't figure out what was wrong but after a few days she threw out the earrings. Within a couple days she was back to normal. π― yep, that was demons...not the flu, or possibly even food poisoning... Nope folks it had to be demons...in the earrings π¨
And then of course, some of you may recall, my husband threw out my Crisis of Conscience book because *gasp* it could bring demons into our home!!!!π
