  But I still believe it would be very difficult for her to be able to take your youngest away from you "legally". That would be a long and expensive road, that she could exhaust with the Legal Aid system.

  I agree that it would be very hard, if not impossible for her to actually accomplish taking her from me. Unfortunately she has already done numerous crazy things that have been straightened out by Judges, but quite often there has been a lot of damage done to our children by then.

  I have learned to try my best at PREVENTING her from even being able to even TRY to do these things. To use an analogy: If somebody robs our home, we ceratinly have the right to feel violated and the robber is the guilty party. However, locking our doors is the first step to try to avoid feeling violated by the robber in the first place.

  As far as being a "LOSER" who abuses the Legal Aid system....... yup, bang on again. It would piss me off to hear what she is doing, even reading about it in the paper. It just happens to be that my kids and myself take the brunt of her abuse, while she is "cheating" all of Ontario residents with her misuse of the legal system.

  I have respect for people who actually require social assistance, but I also learned a BIG life-lesson with my first go-around at being married:

  "YOU CAN A PERSON OUT OF WELFARE, BUT YOU CAN'T TAKE WELFARE OUT OF A PERSON!!"

  Believe me, I never thought that she would have done the hundred or so other things that everybody here would shake their heads at.

  or maybe she is on Legal Aid, and that would explain she wouldn't care how much it cost, because they would be footing her legal bill.

  BINGO!! Of course she had to lie and tell them that I was abusive to her in order to get Legal Aid, but hey, what's one more lie.

  The poster who you find the FUNNIEST here, and why?

  of course, different people enjoy different types of humour, so there will be a wide variety of responses, but if you could mention why you find that person funny, personally, it would be appreciated.. i would have to say that i have to pick two people.

  i enjoy having humour displayed in a tasteful manner, but with wit.

  a life-lesson taught with a laugh is about as good as it gets, imo, even if i am not capable of accomplishing that very well myself.

  Brad, why and how do you think your daughter would be taken away from her siblings.

  It's too long of a story to tell right now, but in short, my ex will do anything and has done just about everything to screw me over. The children are caught in the middle 98% of the time. From her history, I believe that if she found out, for example, that the biological father COULD step in and take our youngest away, she would take steps to make that happen. The negative impact it would have on our daughter would either be ignored or unrecognized. I'm not sure which and why, but my ex's history shows that to be true.

  That's why the most important thing that I want to ensure is that my youngest of four children is GUARANTEED the stability that she now has in her family. I hope that explains it a bit.

  If she wasn't yours biologically, is that something you'd really want to know?? Would you be her daddy if dna came back negative?

  Regarding the first part of your question, I guess it is hard to understand unless you're in the middle of it. As much as I sympathize with the difficulties that are exclusive to women, the one thing you have in your favour is that you KNOW you are the mother. Men don't. Such is life.

  In regards to the second part........ YES!!!!!!! Absolutely!!!!!! She is my daughter. I am her father.

  Without anybody knowing my situation fully, I was asking these questions mostly to prevent my youngest daughter (who may not be mine, biologically) from being taken away from her three siblings and from me.

  This has been a very interesting experience....... simply expressing my thoughts and getting back thoughts from so many loving people. It has convinced me what I have intuitively felt since I was very young: Who we become is 95% environment and 5% genetics. (I think 5% may be a little generous.)

  Thank you all for sharing your thoughts/feelings. I think I have had a lot of positive affirmation regarding what I know I need to do.

  I don't know if my tastes represent anybody other than me, but I'll share. When I was younger I was into more mellow stuff. I still like the mellow stuff, but as I have aged, I have gained a new appreciation for harder stuff. Not Motley Crue shit, but heavier that Elton John and Bread.

  I'm 35 and I really enjoy the rock that is coming out now.

  i'm sure there have been many threads and discussions on this subject.

  BALANCE!!

  As others have said, that should answer the question, but I'm gonna spout off a few words besides that anyway.

  My dad was the typical "Head of the Household" type of guy. I didn't think it was fair. I swore I wasn't gonna be like him. I wasn't. I went too far the other way, in order to try to compensate (I think anyway).

  I married a woman who was abusive and controlling, from a distance. I was so worried about being the better husband, that I never really saw it. DOH!!

  But, hey, like many have said, it's all balance!! I saw one extreme, then the other. The balance has created an almost perfect human being. And I'm single. LOL

  But seriously, like others have said, the man and woman would be best to do away with stereotypes and look at each other as being EQUAL.

  The "BRAG AS MUCH AS YOU WANT ABOUT YOUR KIDS" thread

  on my "backyard rink" thread some of us were bragging about our kids.

  confusedjw and scootergirl shared their kids' hockey and skating successes.. i thought it would be cool to have a thread where parents (and other relatives) could post their kids' achievements as they come along.. births, first steps, first words, sports/academic achievements, etc.

  This is not to mention an award or a specific achievement, but rather more of a recognition of how resiliant, positive and generally beautiful children are.

  I had to meet with the Children's Aid Society today due to further allegations, (from my ex-wife), of my incompetence as a father. My children have supposedly FREELY and WILLINGLY told her regarding my house/my care that I : 1) never feed them and they go for a whole weekend without eating sometimes, 2) I always ask them to get beer for me, I give them beer all the time, 3) I am always at the computer (I admit I am here quite often when they are NOT with me) and that I never do anything with them when they are here, 4) HERE'S THE SHOCKER - I have pictures of my daughters NAKED in the bathtub (along with a hundred clothed, not mentioned... they are 6,4) and my ex feels that this may be an indication that I am a sexual deviant.

  The sh*t she puts into their minds is f*cking sickening!!!!

  Having gotten that off my chest.... .... here's the beautiful part about kids: Despite the fact that they all give me a bit of a hard time about coming before each visit (not surprising, considering the poison she feeds them when they are with her), within minutes they are more free than they ever were when my ex and I were together. My youngest dances up a storm, losing all inhibitions that restrict her when she is with my ex. My second youngest acts out songs, books etc. and my second oldest loves to draw, read and express himself more by genuine excitement for what he is doing at the time.

  Here's to strength of character that all humans have the ability to express if given the chance. Here's to all the parents who recognize and live by the fact that positive influence towards their children creates a completely free human, ready to love themselves and others.

  And, quite frankly, may the people who don't recognize that, learn it soon.
