Help me help my DF'd friend

so i got a text from a friend of mine today telling me that he'd been df'd.

since i'm still nominally a witness, this puts me in a tricky spot.

i intend to tell him in no uncertain terms that i will not shun him, but i'm not sure where to go beyond that.

i failed to be the perfect jehovah's witness.. you might say ironically in that failure to be a perfect jw, i triumphed.. i almost succeeded in seeing life as us vs. them.

i took pride in my humility!.

i bowed to the dictates of a faceless hierarchy claiming divine authority, claiming to be the mouthpiece of god.. these cunning men could simultaneously claim to be only human, fallible and yet--guided by the divine!.

It is such a conundrum - we're not perfect, but God is speaking directly to us - so, you must obey, even if we're wrong at the cost of your life or your well-being.

It is so contrary to God being a Father, who loves his children.

What father wants his children to fail or to suffer to prove their love or loyalty to him?

The worst of saying what is a parent.

a little experience that happened very recently:.

another brother, an elder, and i were talking, i was explaining to him and giving him several examples of how a couple of the elders in our congregation were blatantly trying to run their own show, parading themselves around as "representatives" of the body, when the other brothers didnt know what the hell they were talking about.

they are using their "elder powers" to bully and push people around, causing a bit of angst and hurt feelings.

so then if it can be proven, the "governing body" term and arrangement is a farce, a fake, a made-up nonscriptural arrangement itself, (made up and concocted by nathan knorr & frederick franz in 1944) then how can this fake arrangement now suddenly become the "faithful & discreet slave" that jesus spoke of?

I think this is closure for me.

well, i have finally got rid of my baptism cards.

the congratulations cards....the wt ones, the ones with sheep on etc.... all gone.

they dated back to 23/09/2000.. has anyone else "purged" their witness past this way?.

I also have a cross and crown pin that belonged to my great grandfather who was a JW.

Don't toss it.

I'll buy it if you want to get rid of it.

(I'd love to wear that to a meeting)

Low Disk Space Persists

my c drive is running out of space.

and to my surprise the low disk space problem persists after i free up disk space on my computer.

i uninstalled a lot of programs.i thought that i have free space on my c drive.

Shunning Among the Shunned

i wonder if anyone else has had this experience or know of others who have.

when i was disfellowshipped, i approached another disfellowshipped person after the memorial celebration and asked him over for some refreshments and conversation.

he turned down my invitation saying that the elders had told him that he could not even talk to other disfellowshipped persons unless and until both he and they were reinstated!
