  is it possible to raise good kids with out religious morals?

  making up my mind on how to teach my son values in life seems to be an on going struggle of what is right and wrong.

  being raised in a sheltered jw life until after leaving high school seems like going from one extreme to another of being over restrictive or under.

  trying to find that balance.

  a church divided over leaders10 i appeal to you, brothers and sisters,[a] in the name of our lord jesus christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.11 my brothers and sisters, some from chloes household have informed me that there are quarrels among you.12 what i mean is this: one of you says, i follow [the governing body]; another, i follow [the organization]; another, i follow [jehovah's witnesses] [b]; still another, i follow christ.. 13 is christ divided?

  was [the governing body] crucified for you?

  were you baptized in the name of [the governing body]?14 i thank god that i did not baptize any of you except crispus and gaius,15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name.16 (yes, i also baptized the household of stephanas; beyond that, i dont remember if i baptized anyone else.

  Does trying to understand the WTS give you a headache?

  This thread makes me try to understand the revised theology.

  So, the FDS did not come into existence until 1919, is that correct?

  The July 15, 2013 WT says:

  7 Think, for a moment, about the question: “Who really is the faithful and discreet slave?” In the first century, there was hardly a reason to ask such a question. As we saw in the preceding article, the apostles could perform miracles and even transmit miraculous gifts as proof of divine backing. ( Acts 5:12 ) So why would anyone need to ask who really was appointed by Christ to take the lead? In 1914, however, the situation was much different. The harvest season began in that year. The time had finally arrived to separate the weeds from the wheat.

  And the GB was the apostles and elders of the Jerusalem congregation (why just those elders?).

  So the apostles are dying off, and when Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 CE, then who was the GB from 71 CE forward?

  True Christianity existed at least until John died, did it not?

  So, why was there no need for a FDS from 71 CE forward, when there was no EVIDENCE of the holy spirit being obtained by the laying on of the hands of the apostles?

  Additionally, the very same magazine (Simplified) says:

  Jesus will judge people of all nations as sheep or goats when he comes during the great tribulation. Then, at Armageddon, the goats will be ‘cut off’ forever, that is, destroyed. So this shows us how important our preaching work is. Before the great tribulation begins, people still have time to change their thinking and start living in a way that puts them on the road “leading off into life.” (Matthew 7:13, 14) It is true that some people may now have an attitude that might make us think that they are a sheep or a goat. But we should remember that it is during the great tribulation that Jesus will make the final judgment of the sheep and the goats .

  So, why then the comment above:

  What is the difference between "the sheep and the goats" and "the weeds and the wheat."

  How can anyone even try to explain this stuff?

  The reason for the analogy was two-fold:

  1. You CANNOT leave or you WILL die!

  2. You're just a disposable statistic - (and JW's do eat their young).

  i am starting to write a book about survival/recovery for exjws or questioning jws... i hope to have an impact on the jw community.. .

  in my first chapter, i discuss the negative effects of dfing and shunning.

  the wts presents dfing in a positive light and indicates that jws should feel no compassion for those that have turned their back on jehovah.

  A Challenge to Apoligists - Why Would a Heavenly Father Kill a Newborn?

  as a father, made in god's love, that has troubled me for a very long time, is that god, as described by the wts, is soon, going to slaughter every, roughly, 7.9 billion people on the planet, because they have figured out a way to come know him as a father according to the wts.. .

  as a father, dear apologist, why would you kill/murder a one-day old baby?.

  as a kid, my fave band was bto (bachman turner overdrive).

  randy bachman (a somewhat devout mormon) was the driving force.

  randy had separated from the guess who (american woman, these eyes, no sugar tonight).

  As a kid, my fave band was BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive). Randy Bachman (a somewhat devout Mormon) was the driving force. Randy had separated from the Guess Who (American Woman, These Eyes, No Sugar Tonight). Like many artisitics, he had interesting challenges with depression, becoming overweight, etc. As a fellow Canuck, I have listened to him on his radio-show, as well as viewed documentaries of his life as a Mormon, an artist, and a person suffering from depression. I've seen him on tour 4 times so far. His stories on Vinyl Tap Tour were mesmerizing, especially with the creation of American Woman and No Sugar Tonight. I would place him in the top 10 guitarists, along with Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen.
