Isaiah 1:18 (King James)
"18 Come now, and let us reason together..."
And many other versions: http://biblehub.com/isaiah/1-18.htm
Reasoning?
No soup for you!
One year!
"we may get instructions that don't make sense or they may defy logic, but we must be obedient to the faithful slave if we want to survive.".
all i could think about was that these were the same kind of people that would have gulped down the kool aid at jonestown without hesitation.. pardon the language, but what the actual f**k?
even when i wasn't a doubter and bought in to the organization, it was always with a view to what was in line with scripture.

today's wt study (nov 15, 2014 page 4, par 4.. the governing body in jerusalem sent the apostles peter and john to these samaritan converts, and they laid their hands on them, and they began to receive holy spirit.
(acts 8:5, 6, 14-17) .
there are multiple references to acts 15 whereby "the apostles and older men" were the governing body.. i have never noticed this applied to "the apostles" only in acts 8:14 before.. is this another new item to reinforce the concept of the governing body?.
Thanks Blondie.
I obviously tuned out in 1995 and missed that 1999 article.

Listen to Fred Franz explain that the first century Christian congregation had a governing body of one--Christ Jesus--and that Christ Jesus remains the sole governing body of today's Christian congregation.
Great post, Rufus.
I can still listen to Freddy without vomiting, unlike listening to The Magnificent Seven of today.
Some about-face in Freddy's talk compared to today with respect to "a body" directing things in the first century. (Of course, Freddy mentions WTBTS enough times for the 20th century.)

have you all read this weeks study article?.
oh my word it is full of fear inducing tactics....doom and gloom outlooks.... anxiety inducing methods to develop absolute control over witnesses and cripple them in any attempt to think for themselves!.
(notice i am saying "themselves" rather than "ourselves"?!
What's in the white liquid (?) containers in the upper left of the image?
Emergency koolaid.
interesting court case whereby the entire will was declared void because the father was racist.. would that not also apply to jw's who disinherit their non-jw family?.

Do not act hastily and D/A. Don't play the Org's game. Simply miss meetings on a regular basis. Stop field service immediately.
When Elders call you to arrange a shepherding call to find out why your failing to live up to their expectations, simply say, "Thank you for offer, but not at the moment. There are things I can only talk to Jehovah about, but if things change, I'll call you."
Although I strongly agree that you should not DA and should fade instead, do not be afraid to tell them that you are badly depressed and are trying your best to rely on Jehovah.
They will then avoid you.
MANY, MANY JW's are severely depressed.
I went through a prolonged depression (over 10 years - thought of suicide every single day - 24/7).
Oddly enough, the more meetings I missed and less field service I did, the less depressed I became.
I have not set foot in a JW building in nearly a year - and my depression is GONE.
You may not realize it yet, but at 21, you are darn lucky.
Many of us here went through decades of torment before we woke up all the way.
i was really overjoyed to hear a 10 year old in the hall say this the other day.
she was sitting behind us and whispered to her mum during the meeting:.
"so mummy, why are we supposed to be happy when jehovah kills people, including my friends at school?
as an elder, i used to find a legitimate reason to wander.
Two halls were within a block from a playground - so when kids were little, and "acting up," we went for a nice 1-hour break.
When they were older, I would sometimes nap in the car, or else 20-minute bathroom breaks playing games on the phone.
below are pasted pages from website landoffree.com - canada with information about registered charities.
the one i direct attention to is the tynehead park congregation of jehovah's witnesses.. note several items.. rick worsley - elder - is identified as fundraiser.. has anyone seen this title applied to other jw's.
tynehead park congregation of jehovah's witnesses, surrey b c from british columbia, surrey, surrey has not been rated yet.
That website is simply scraping info from the CRA site, and filling in their own verbiage. JW's do not use the word "fundraiser" in their returns.
watching nightline.. story about scientology.. very interesting.. wish alex gibney would do one on wts..
