Why I remain one of Jehovah's Witnesses
I could not afford the fees charged for the Scientology courses.
allow me to begin with a clarification: when i say i am one of jehovah's witnesses, i don't mean that i am an advocate of the watchtower society or a devotee of some of its more controversial false teachings.
i mean that i am a christian, a disciple of jesus christ dedicated to jehovah god, and who remains in union with my brothers and sisters who make up the family of faith that globally refers to itself as jehovah's witnesses.
some totally understand the distinction between the family of brothers and sisters and the corporate organization known as the watchtower society (wts).

found these gems in this edition:.
- keep in expectation!- prepare now for life in the new worldthe passing of time should not cause us to lose hope thatkingdom blessings will be realized.
there are solid reasonsto keep our scriptural expectations alive.
17 Events on the world scene clearly indicate
that Bible prophecy is now being
fulfilled and that the end of this wicked
system of things is imminent.
.
Imminent. Probably the most overused work in the WT lexicon.
Yup, not just soon, but imminent.
Oh, and WT Dec 1, 1952
. But now, by occurrence of every detail of the great sign Jesus gave, we know that we face the imminent end of the present world system.

not many shows left.. was a fan from his nbc days when he had a lot of innovation.. no question, he has a quick mind, which to me, is a key to comedy.. a distinct memory was awakening my poor pre-teen daughter when dave was back on the air after his heart surgery.. no matter what, is a changing of the guard (if only the wt could do the same)..
Julia's comments also reflect my feelings.
The old coinage is also, of all things, (King James) biblical, that is, not suffer fools gladly.

When Dave hosted a moron, he never pretended that they were anything but.

Tonight was a treat for Late Night persons.
Julia Robert's 26th appearance and her special friendship with Dave was teary.
Stephen Colbert will be a seriously qualified host.
No matter a person's viewpoint, 33 years as a late-night host is impeachable.
very interesting article on cbc.. traditionally christianity is on the way out.. however, alternative christianity is doing well.
non-christians are thriving.. jw's seem to be among those on the way out.. http://www.cbc.ca/news/thenational/religion-in-canada-are-we-godless-1.3073695.

key quote:.
many believe that life came about by evolution.... ummmm, no...that's abiogenesis, not evolution.
no evolutionist says that "life came about by evolution.
Funny timing of your post.
Probably old news for many here, but I was on AJWRB today, trying to grasp the background of the blood belief.
The first quote (and many others) is WHAAAAAAT?

Who needs doctors (physicians and otherwise) when we can read the ravings of Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, Franz and the Magnificent Seven?

This blogger makes an interesting post:
I was channel-surfing not long ago and came across that scene in Airplane where Robert Stack fights his way through an airport concourse clogged with Moonies and Hare Krisnas, and it occurred to me the scene makes no sense now. Cults vanished around 1980, and people who grew up after that have no memory of panhandlers in saffron skirts blocking their way to the check-in counter.
I wondered idly where the cults had gone. Airplane was released in 1980, which was an interesting coincidence. Were the cultists so mortified at being made fun of in Airplane that they left the airports, hung up their robes, and found jobs as insurance adjustors or software engineers?

steven hassen is a well known name for many, if you do not know him google can help.
this information is certainly not new, but as almost every exjw has deep affection and concern for active jws it is certainly my wish and i hope the wish of other exjws that any active jw considers this information.
this information cannot be deemed as apostate, it is just stating the opinion of someone who has spent much of his adult life in helping people to realize what a cult is.
Scratch out Mormon - insert JW or WTS
(Looks like Mormons use the same definition of "Cult" as WTS does - there must be one group advising these 2 "religions" - they operate identically)
the video streaming of the german branch visit program was excrutiating 3.5 hours long.. i just went to see the last 45 min (part of mark sandersons talk).. i think sanderson is quite a sympathetic speaker and he kind of made a loving impression.. he didn't mention controversial stuff (except for one thing i will come to soon).
he mostly talked about how to find joy, even when life is not easy, and how much the gb loves the rank and file.. one point seemed soooo important to him.
parents and children.
Can someone remind me, please? How old was Jesus when HE got baptized?
Also interesting is the age of Jesus at baptism, and the life expectancy of classical Rome - if correct, it was about 35 years of age.
Not much of a dedication, then, was it?
