How do I find God if I want to find him?

yes, i have many times asked this of my self.

after leavening the witness's its been hard, i think ewww i am no good cause unless i am attending the kingdom hall i won't have gods grace and he won't hear my prayers or anything.

boy they sure had me, being raised a witness sticks with you long after you leave in ways you think it never would and in ways you just can't can't flush.

God is everywhere, and He will hear your prayers wherever you are if you are sincerely seeking Him. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. He is not in a building or organization. Just keep praying, He will lead you where you need to go. I know it sounds too easy, but I know from experience. I was living at home with my JW mother and my Bible Student father, and God did not choose to reach me through either of them. Read the Bible (not the NWT!), and don't let anyone tell you it is not written for you or that you need someone else to tell you what it says.

JW Admits She Doesn't Want To Think!

one of my wife's best friends talked to her yesterday about "the truth".

she wanted to know if they could get together to "talk".

after some conversation, my wife asked her if she thought all the "prophecies" in the isaiah book seemed reasonable.

Do you respect God?

That would be assuming that Jesus was a mere man- another WT teaching. If you believe He is God, then you have a DIRECT relationship with Him. I know that the trinity is a difficult thing for a lot of people to make sense of, I had a very hard time with it myself. I grew up Bible Student (the ancestors of the JWs) and was taught that Jesus was created. I'm not trying to start a big debate, just stating my opinion. And I know this is not a thread about the trinity, so I will leave it at that. I have a very different "illustration" so to speak of what a relationship with God looks like.

"How would God rate as a parent?"

I believe He is the best parent. He seeks us out, we do not seek Him. He gives us free will as to whether or not we will follow Him. And He is willing to forgive any and all sins we commit against Him- something that can not be said for many human parents (especially JW parents who shun their apostate children)! He is not the God the WTS makes Him out to be.

I am not, nor have I ever been a JW, so I know I can't relate to how many of you feel. But my husband did grow up in a JW family, and he knows a much different God than he did as a child.

Couldn't you argue that the world is the way it is because society has turned from God? He respects the wishes of people who turn from Him by leaving them alone. So couldn't that be why the world is so terrible, He's leaving those alone who want to be left alone? I respect Him for giving us a chance to take the help He offers through His son Jesus Christ.

Thanks again to all of you for your insight and the warm welcome. You all give me hope that there ARE people who escape the JW's and have happy lives again. My mom is my best friend, I want so badly for her to see what a bunch of crap they are feeding her. God Bless you all!

The reason I ask, is I have a JW aunt who likes to go to what are called "Mom to Mom" sales. These are like big garage sales where moms sell stuff they don't need anymore, and a lot of them are held in churches. Sometimes the admission fee goes to the church, but the profits from the sales, as I understand it, go to the sellers themselves. Anyway, this same aunt of mine would not set foot in my backyard this past summer for a picnic because my father-in-law, who was DFd 30 years ago, was going to be there. He even said he would not talk to her or eat with her, but she wouldn't budge. She then bullied my mother until she refused to come too. But she will shop in a church to save a few bucks on her baby's clothes. She can bend the rules, as long as there's something in it for her. MAKES ME SICK! AGGGHHHHH!!

Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed reading your posts. I am not and have never been a JW, but my husband and I both have a lot of family who are. My mother was sucked into it in 1999. I have a question, is it true that JWs are forbidden to set foot in any church other than the Kingdom Hall? Even for something like a rummage sale, something non-worship related? You all have been giving me a lot of food for thought when it comes to JW hypocrisy! Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.
