This post makes me angry. I brought a small 3 bedroom townhouse in ,,2017. Since then my property value has doubled and renting. I can't afford to rent.. I could never afford over 3000 a month for 3 bedrooms. But since own it.. I pay less then half. So a big finger to the WT

What are Jehovah's Witnesses' stance on home ownership?
by timothytha inwhat do people usually think of when they buy a house?
"i will probably live here for a long time" (you're invested with your time), "i will save money by building equity over time".
(you've invested in yourself financially for the long run) of course, i wouldn't be able to list the numerous reasons why people want to buy a house.

2001translation.com Website?
by lynnmelo inhi, again, folks (i've posted 2 times today).
my sister (who is also studying with the jw's) found this website.
it says it isn't affiliated with any specific religion, but she said that many of the explanations are right in line with the jw's take on things.

Actually I need to dig a bit here
The nwt and the 2001 using Jehovah in the NT is counter-productive for non trinitarians. The reason is in places like mark 1 the quotation from Malachi and Isaiah say john prepared the way for Jehovah. Sane issues in Roman 10:13 and numerous other places.
Here is why neither the trinity nor the non-trinitarians are correct:
Christianity like grew out of two movements.Qumran and the man of the lie. The later formed gnosticism and this view of the high god being them Father of Jesus and not Jehovah makes sense in the Pauline epistles and parts of John.
The former Qumran believed in El Elyon as the high god the father. Jehovah as his son and the mother Asherah or in later cases Sophia. The spirit. Note in the earliest christian texts. Jesus is only named Jesus upon his death and ressurection. (See Philippians 2) Jehovah saves. The idea of Jehovah dying and rising goes far back into antiquity to the Baal cycle.

I tried to find archeology and other evidence for the bible. Ended up questioning it quickly which lead to a search for 100% proof for evolution. I found it and became an atheist in five minutes. It's taken over a decade to extract. As for an afterlife that has nothing to do with the bible or anything supernatural

Refuting the Alleged Evidence of Jesus' Resurrection
by truth_b_known inin the past few months there have been a few debates on this site over alleged evidence of the resurrection of jesus.
this can be a hot topic as most would agree that without the resurrection of jesus there would be no christianity.
i am not so sure of that, but i am more sure that dr. gary habermas' minimal facts approach to the resurrection has no evidentiary basis.. here is a 22 minute video on the topic.

Seabreeze Yeah philo was cousin to the Herods. In the early 30s he spent his time in the holy land. Now think of this. Passover. Where is Philo? In Jerusalem of course. Who is he with? Family. Where is Jesus taken in Luke 23? Who questions Jesus? Herod. What is Herod in Jerusalem for? Passover m who is in that room? I'll let you make conclusions

Not this dumb video again! Why do I have to debunk this video everytime I come to this forum!
1. A flat out lie is made that every schoolar accepts 1 Corinthians and Galatians as Pauline. You must mean fart erhman
2. The first half of 1 Corinthians 15 is a very late interpolation. Christian schoolars of the past have noted this
3. No one knows of Paul's letters before marcion parades them around 140
4. Alexander is a bad comparison since people of his own lifetime are prolific writers
5. How the hell do you try to date Galatians and 1 Corinthians... Oh wait I know Acts. Of course. Let's take a document that no one knows until the late second century to date works not known until the early second century. Ok....
6. Why not use a contemporary of Jesus l. Like Philo? Oh wait because the Jesus Philo knows is a heavenly logos. He was in the same room as Jesus in the gospels. Never mentioned him

JWs don’t use the apocryphal, yet source them
by Anony Mous inso a quick little note about a few things that i recently learned.
if you ever had the yellow book of bible stories, there was the story of enoch, also repeated in other watchtower publications, about the angels fathering giants and being a menace on earth.
now if you look at the nicean bible, which is the wtbts selection of the bible, it mentions enoch twice and only has a very brief passage about nephilim and ben elohim.

Enoch is not from the third century BCE. The dead sea scrolls date between 150bce and 70ce. The core of the book assumes the persucution under antiocus iv. Also a chunk of the book of Enoch is either second or third century ce a Christian interpolation.

The wt definitely uses other books. Take the pictures of Paul with a bald head and bushy eyebrows. That's taken from the acts of Paul and thecla
