we used to be so close before she got heavily involved in the jw religion.

she actually got me into it (i actually believed all the nonsense) and i went to meetings with her and everything, we were like brother and sister.

she lives in texas now in a remote area where their is no cell phone signal or anything with her dad and mom (i think they said they moved their to get closer to jehovah which is weird).

Example: just tonight I was partially asleep on the couch the rest of my

Family was just relaxing watching TV. So she said….it’s time to go to bed to

Our boys. And she said she wanted to say a prayer, normally I would do this

But, she thought I was asleep. So she proceeded to pray, I just wanted to listen

She prayed to Jehovah, asked to be more theocratic (whatever that means)

Ask to watch over those being persecuted in jehovahs name ( Huh? Thought it was jesus….hmmm I missed the bulletin)

Pray for only Jehovah witnesses out there doing the preaching work.

It took a lot for me not to say something about how off base I thought she was,

But, it’s not worth fighting over anymore. She will never wake up.

Spent the 70’s and most of the 80’s being brainwashed

She faded prior to meeting me….which was around 87’

What brand of brainwashing is she, since she was active during those periods of time?

i do believe each period of time your in the BORG there is a special kind of indoctination

base...especially since the doctrine changes sooooo much.

I find it hard to believe that Terrence Howard isn't awake.

for those who don't know, terrence howard is an actor who has had some exposure to "the truth" and has spoken positively about the jw religion in a past interview saying he would become a jw if he could.. i've started watching wayward pines where terrence howard stars as the town sheriff.

there are some striking cult parallels between the show and some facets of jw cult culture.

~ people who try to leave wayward pines are subject to punishment.

from what i understand is this.. one of his wifes was a jw. he studied a little bit, but has a serious smoking habit. he said in an interview that he believes the basic doctrine of the dubs. but, can't give up smoking to commit. subsequently his marriage ended. i thinks he was abusive, not sure.

but, remember...that doctrine has changed quit a bit. so he may not believe anymore. just like all of us saw through the scam of the WTBT$.

i commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.

at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.

they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

cartoon teachings for a cartoon cult religion......i straight up tell my kids what kind of people to look out for. i show them the people on the sex offender list and show them they look like normal people.

i tell them not to trust anyone, especially witnesses.....my wife says the same as me.

if they do get approached or touched to come to us....i will let the local police know....i will persecute and if it is happening and i catch it....I WILL TERMINATE THE SORRY EXCUSE OF A PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have just found out that my brother (who was one of a bunch that shared this login) has died.. he and his wife were living in another country where they once pioneered.

i didn't see him that often.. such an empty feeling.....

Why using Jehovah for God's name is as good as using Yahweh

in another thread i wrote some notes about why using jehovah in english is as good as using yahweh.

i'm starting a discussion on this topic because it sounds quite ignorant to hear people talk of the monk who started using it in latin without really understanding why the monk did so.. the spanish dominican monk, raymundus martini, in 1270, didn't get hoodwinked by an old jewish superstition about pronouncing the divine name with the vowel points of another word.. 1. first the vowel points of adonay and jehovah cannot be the same for grammatical reasons.

you just can't use the same vowel points because some vowels aren't paired with some consonants in pronouncing hebrew words.
