  I'll be a Witness when I retire.

  i was around age 5 when my father allowed an elder and his wife into our home for a bible study.

  my father never got baptized and left the religion completely when i was 12. he would tell the family that when he retires he would return to the religion.

  he never went into absolutely why he left, but i think it has to do with the fact he reported an elder's daughter making out with a "worldly" guy, and it was my father that got lambasted.

  even though i have a raging hangover today, and going on to tonight......... i wouldnt trade it for another sunday morning , in a kh, wearing a suit n tie, listening to garbage..

  I recommend an hour in a sauna while drinking a gallon of water. That will help with the bottle flu.

  an elderly sister passed away recently.

  family came to her memorial service from all over the country.

  some of them, including grown-up, disfellowshipped children of hers, also came.

  Depends on the family. I went to a funeral a few months ago and the DFed family was allowed to go to the after dinner. But they kept it to family only. Not everyone from the Congo was invited.

  at our meeting last night there was a talk about having run out of magazines for the last three months.

  it's expected this will continue to happen.

  the "branch" has not sent the requested number of magazines.

  Great post JA. I have really enjoyed reading the responses.

  I'm not sure how much I ever really believed so it wasn't really that big of a shock to me to wake up and realize I will die one day. I'm not angry or depressed about this. It's just a fact of life. I am however really pissed that I can't figure how to wake my wife up. I can't let my two daughters grow up believing this lie like I did.

  Are You "Technically" Still A Jehovah's Witness?

  even if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?

  I think that the 607 discussion would appeal to some dubs. My dad would never leave for an emotional reason. hopefully something like this will eventually wake him up.

  i see an attitude among some people here which is not very helpful.

  i can understand it, but still, it's not constructive or helpful.. if you condemn the society for not changing, but then you also condemn them when they do change in a positive way, what incentive or motive does that provide for the people at the society to ever want to change for the better?.

  also, what does that attitude look like to current witnesses who are having doubts?.

  How long until the "Generation" gets Revised/Dropped?

  if you don't already know this; the latest revision of the insight book has no mention of the "overlapping generation" bs online library, insight book .

  obviously that change will not bee seen by the vast majority of people, so when will this "brighter light" shine through in a wt or assembly talk?

  Do we know what was stated before the recent change in the insight book? It seems very non-descript now
