Will the collapse of the US financial system lead to an increase in JW's?
by jwfacts inhttp://money.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=632789 discusses that "the collapse of these pillars of the us financial system inevitably will result in the decline of the us as a financial power.
" i have received emails from jws saying this proves the end is near.
(surprise surprise, i hasten to remind them that hurricanes, floods and us economic issues are not part of the sign of the end.

You can be sure that the JWs will make something of it.
But as we all know all these kinds of things have happened in the past. They seem to dwell on the bad things that happen.
But ignore that Jesus said and that they themselves keep pointing out. Is thatJesus said life would be continuing as normal when He returns.
The "day of Jehovah" will come as a thief in the night etc etc.
Apostle Paul also said that there would be "peace and security" before "the end" does it look like that now?
What of "Babylon the Great" falling, end of religion etc. If such occurences cause people to go back to the churches then that is not religion falling is it!
Probably the churches themselves are glad such things happen they can say "look what happens when you neglect God"
You can bet someone in all things will make something from it all to their advantage whether religion or something else.

Has Anybody Here Converted to Judaism?
by Robdar ini've studied many religions since i left the jws.
i've flirted with a few and have actually thought about joining, but in the end i didn't because it didn't feel right--it didn't resonate with me.
in 2001, the year i discovered this forum, i started reading judaism 101 and really enjoyed it.

My first clue was "churches" he must be using the JW thing for some phoney cover up.... Real JW's would never call it "church
Same here, soon as I saw he called the "organisation" a church, I thought "you're a JW in name only."
Gives money to charity ?? Gives money to political parties??
But like others who are "pseudo-JWs" if they have money and influence the WT will put up with them.

Just read an article in Awake (I am DA, but was given copies from my ex mother in law) on the relief efforts after Katrina.
Can you find any outside reports of all these JWs turning up after Katrina?
I recall that one of the things after Katrina many on this forum commented how there was no help or very little help coming from JWs at the time. JWs who wanted to contribute to help were told they should just make a donation to the "Worldwide Work Fund" . In my 30 years as a JW never once was any appeal made for funds or aid for a disaster. When the tsunami happened in Asia and JWs here wanted to give aid they were told give to "Worldwide Work Fund" . One brother got told off because he donated to the Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund.
I recall a guy who was having a study with JWs, when a hurricane hit Florida. The congregation got together some to go down and help. The guy thought this was great in was the "Christian" thing to do. When in Florida thet helped rebuild JWs homes. When they had finished the guy asked do they now help others, non-JWs, now. He was told no they only help their own brothers. This disgusted him as he thought "Christians" were supposed to help anyone no matter who they were. He told the JWs therefore he no longer wanted anything to do with them.
I found over the years that JWs won't even lift a finger to help those in their own congregation who have needed it, never mind some other place.
In my early days as a JW I once when on ministry put a small amount of money in someone collection tin, think it was for a local hospice. I was told in no uncertain terms that JWs do not give money to any organisation but their own.

A few years ago I was once in the home of an Elder , one of those type who was very Watchtower. Criticised everyone else if they stepped out of line.
I was sitting next to a cupboard, above which had shelves with videos on them. Usual family stuff Disney etc, mainly up to 12 rated, maybe a couple of 15.
Anyway oneof his younger kids came in and asked if they could get something out the cupboard. I moved so they could get in, they took what ever it was out and left.
But they didn't close door properly, so as I looked down, I noticed more videos through door. Being nosy, I opened door a bit more and saw about 20, 18 rated videos. Mainly the ones that where considered violent, but also about 5-6 "of a sexual nature"
I gave a little smile and closed the cupboard, and filed away this find in my mind for future use.

If you were a CO and have been asked to be a PO why are you asking such basic questions?
My thoughts also.
Having been a CO he should know the procedures and how the system works
He should also have a copy of "Paying Attention to the Flock" manual.
