Very interesting (as they used to say) if true.
Is the flow of ready cash slowing down?
Or are they expecting a slow down in growth, that does not merit building more Kingdom Halls?
based on an informal conversation this past weekend.... an elder with "connections" to the local rbc stated that he heard that the society was instituting a moratorium on all kingdom hall construction in the us and canada.
any projects for which funding has already been arranged will continue, but as of now, no new kh construction loans are being approved by the society.. there are enough projects in the pipeline that rbcs will still be busy for the next year or 2, but after that....who knows?.
my thoughts:.

well, i was told that a married lesbian that i know of has been studying with jw for several years.
i was shocked to see the teacher(i know that sister too) and the student pictured together on facebook.
they were smiling big time.
I mentioned to my son about the JW I mentioned above, as they are both same age and knew each other back then from the KH.
He said he had met him about 2-3 weeks ago and he look fit, and was doing well in his job. Also he was still with the guy he started the "study" with. They are from all accounts both very happy together.
very interesting report on cults/sects and the effects on the family etc.
jehovahs witnesses do get a mention along the way.

Damn! I thought it said "Report on Sex"

I recall working with a young JW brother (18/19) and we were working an apartment block, and called on a guy (20's). We had a good chat and he took the magazines. It was arranged for us to call back , but as circumstance were the times the guy was in I was at work so the brother said he would call back.
Anyway it ended up with the guy having a study. Time went on and occasionally I would ask the brother how he was getting on, he would say study was going ok.
About 3-4 months on, it becomes known that the brother was having a gay relationship with the guy. The brother was DF'd and I believe moved in with the guy.
sitting at the meeting this week the brother on stage said elder a_____ has an anouncement....we all know what that means disfellowshiping!
{this elder i spoke with before the meeting and he did look stressed} "brother b______ is no longer a jehovahs witness" sister c____ is no longer a pioneer and has been reproved..." wtf!
brother a ____ spends every waking moment witnessing, he's alittle irratating with every sentence containing the term "jehovah.
Billy - It was either that or they were playing strip poker.
"Married couples don't do that sort of thing."
Yes they do - just not with each other

very funny guys
Billy - Yeah I wondered what the "local needs" would be about as well. "Kingdom Hall Library - for study ONLY."
Two things that puzzled me was if that brother and sister, from what I was told, were not even "dating" or any hint they were interested in each other. What circumstances led up to them doing what they did?
Second one is what would have happened if they had been a married couple?
q: how does tennis star serena williams justify wearing such sexy clothes when she's a jehovah's witness?
- ron ryden, riverview, fla.. a: the winner of 10 grand slam singles titles dresses conservatively when attending kingdom hall services, but there's no religious dress code preventing her from wearing revealing clothes on or off the court.. .
i wonder who wrote the answer to that question because that is not how i remember the jw "dress code.
I recently being told of a sister from my old congregation going out with a brother from another congregation. In passing the the person telling me said "Oh and he has dreadlocks." What!!

Since I left, getting on for 10 years now, I have through different sources have been kept up to date whats been going on in my old congregation ans other local congregations.
I have heard of cases of wifeswapping, Elders fighting in the street, gay brothers, affairs. A recent one I was told was of a group young JWs who used to visit a naturist beach.
As this thread seems to concern pioneers. One story I was told was of a Min Servant brother and pioneer sister who had volunteered, at the then group study, to clean the KH for the Thursday evening meeting, no other takers for this "privilege" it seems. They were not man and wife or were "dating", both around 30 yrs old.
That Thursday afternoon two brothers went to the KH to check the heating system. They heard noises from the "library" on entering they found the brother and sister naked, she lying on the table, and he F***king her. As they say the manure hit the fan and they were DF'd within the week.
Now I always think that the scenario of the two electricians walking in on the other two, was a set scene for a porno movie. All they needed was some cheesy background music.
Then I will hear some JW going on about how thing like those mentioned above "never ever" go on on "Jehovahs pure clean organisation"

This reminds me, of a girl who was a pioneer in my last congregation, in her mid 20's, I think she was the only pioneer they had if I remember rightly. She was always being used for demonstrations, in the KH and at assemblies. Everyone thought how wonderful and spiritual she was. As is usual she worked part-time as a sort of secretary. Her family were all JWs as well.
It was about a year after I stopped attending, that I heard she had upped and left the congregation.
My son later on met her brother, who was a sort of "on/off" JW. He told my son that she had been DF'd.
From him we learnt that this girl had been having an affair with the guy who she did the secretarial work for and they had gone off together. But what shocked everyone was that it had been going on for about 2-3 years at least. So while "Sister Wonderful and Spiritual" was up there on the platform at the KH and assemblies, telling us how she got her hours in, or demonstrating how to preach.
She was having an adulterous affair with her employer. Not one single person knew about it.
I believe over time the rest of her family left as well, Father, Mother, and brother.
most ex-jw's df/da that i know end up living a dangerous life.
some get into drugs, prostitution, gangsterism, etc.
as a result they prove the jw theory that says "whoever leaves jehovah's organisation won't make it" right.. it's difficult for me to say this, but it seems like jw's are partly right on this one.. why do most ex-dubs end up in a predicament of some sort?
As has already been said the title of this thread read like a Watchtower article. Making the premise that any one who is DF'd or DA'd is going to get into trouble.
Over these past 8 years since I left and DA'd , I have met many and corresponded with many, who have been DA or DF'd.
Yes you will get the "very few" who do get into trouble, this is usually caused by a reaction of coming out of such a repressive group. But over time they begin to settle into a normal lifestyle.
But the overall majority I have spoken to have never been in "trouble" when they left, in fact its when they were JWs that they were "in trouble".
That is, it was while being a JW, that they committed fornication, took drugs, alcoholics, stole, and other "sins". The few may carry on when they were DF'd. But most stopped when the pressure of being a JW ended.
Some stories I have been told about what JWs got up to while in the congregation have been totally surprising.
Those who DA'd have been usually over what they have learnt about the WT and can no longer believe in JW teachings and leave. These usually have a normal lifestyle and don't suddenly go off the rails on leaving. In fact apart from not being a JW their lives are not much different, except they are free.
