I think that if Ray had left the Society in his 30s, he could have much more time to analyze the falsehood of the Bible. At least, he would conclude that the Bible can't be inerrant. May be he noticed that in many passages of the Old Testament while researching for the Aid book, but he kept quiet. -

Do JWs Try To Convert Believers Of Islam?
by minimus inor do they regard them as they do ultra conservative jews and not waste their time with them, since as a people, they willfully abandoned jesus christ?

That question have impressed me for a long time. If the Christian God were the True God, why His Churches are so divided, so that they can't convince millions of muslims to be converted to the christian faith???
If the true God were the Watchtower god, why does the Society's preaching is so limited???
If salvation were dependent on the Watchtower preaching, millions of men and women would be destroyed in Armaggedon without being preached.
Also, how many souls were disappointed by pedofile priests of the Catholic Church? (the same as in the Watchtowerland)
Accordingly, the christian religion is a historical failure. There is no such a thing as "salvation", because we don't need to be saved of nothing, unless you believe that we die on account of the original sin, which is a false doctrine of Paul's thought.

....in addition, ... one of the best weapons against the christian religion is to expose the falsehood of the Bible. -

It will take many decades, or even a century. You can contribute a bit to destroy this cult, as I do by my two webpages. For instance, The Catholic Church still exists, but currently their leaders can't burn you as a heretic. You can insult the Pope without being condemned by secular authorities. This world has changed due to many thinkers who wrote against the falsehood of many christian institutions. -

Protect governing body with your life
by Zoos inthere was a quote in the literature some years back about protecting the governing body from secular authorities and insinuated that we should do whatever it took to insure their safety.. i seem to remember it was something about refusing to help the authorities locate the governing body.
i may be off track here.
if this is familiar to you could you please help me find the quote?.

What I remember well is that when I was being judged by a Judicial meeting, an elder said that under a persecution I must hate my soul (including my family), so I have to sacrifice even my family so as to be faithful to the organization. -

I'm my favorite type of JW - Double Life
by thedepressedsoul inthe borg's tactics on most jw work.
they put fear into their mind, they guilt trip them and basically make them scared to do anything when they are away from the kingdom hall.
it allows them to control every aspect of their life.

Well, I was impelled to listen Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, and to go to a Pub to drink some beer after the saturday meetings. I wondered why I was impelled to do so after receiving spiritual food from the Unfaithful and Indiscreet Slave. However, now I understand why, this was because my inner soul knew that I was being deceived by paranoic leaders, through their literature. Now I am free to listen the music I want, without fear of Yahweh and his organization. -

Impossible conversation: Jesus and Nicodemus: YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN
by Terry ini am a member on new testament scholar bart ehrman's blog, and the professor is currently outlining a new book he is writing about false memory and the life of jesus.. an interesting post occurred today in which he gives an example of a very famous scripture,.
example of a false memory of jesus teaching i turn to a famous passage in the gospel of john, jesus dialogue with nicodemus (john 3:1-15).
nicodemus is said to be a jewish leader who comes up to jesus and affirms that jesus must come from god because of the great things that he said to have done.

That dialogue could happen only between two greek speakers. -

Hi Terry , I wrote an article about things told in the NT, which could not happen. I also included that mentioned by Bart Ehrman, where Jesus pronounced that greek word of double meaning to Nicodemus. Just an impossible thing done between two aramaic speakers. It is another proof that one of the writers of the Gospel of John invented dialogues lacking historicity.
Here my article in Spanish:

Disowning the God of the OT is not an Option
by cofty init's to their credit that many modern christians prefer the jesus of the gospels to the god of the old testament.. ot god is an embarrassment.
i am not going to list his multitude of moral crimes here but my personal favourite is his brilliant idea that a girl who is raped must marry her rapist.
it's not his biggest crime but it demonstrates a disregard for human feelings that is beyond the comprehension of every moral person.

Cofty said :"Jesus of the gospels was an egotistical failed apocalyptic cult leader who enticed men to abandon their families and follow him around Palestine preaching nonsense."
Yes, this is what we may see through the Gospels, after applying an unbiased textual criticism. However, I don't think that the Gospels are telling us more than 20% of the personality of Jesus. Jesus did not write any book, and currently I strongly believe that he did not say things like "I and the Father are one", "before Abraham I exist", "I am the resurrection and the life", and so on. I think that some of these phrases were invented by the Johaninne community. It is highly probable that he proclaimed some apocalyptic sentences, however, I believe that we was a better speaker and thinker than those other "christs" who appeared in the first century, and this is the reason why he could survive as a leader after dying. Nevertheless, I don't blame him of anything, because I ignore what he exactly did and said. However, I apply my criticism only on the text, not on the person.

Having Faith in the Bible
by william draper ini know many on here have lost faith in the bible , is it possible that is because ones do not have the right perspective regarding it .
we have usually been taught by bad teachers , or ignorant .
i believe if we take an honest look at the bible , we will see that it gives us the best answers to crucial matters , it gives us some amount of bearings ( understanding ) , which without having such knowledge we would all be more like walking zombies in amanner of speaking , we would be lacking hope in something better , for surely something better is to come , how can we be sure , .

Could the following reading be fruitful for my son of 9 years old?
The word of the Lord came to me: 2 Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother. 3 Even as young girls, they were prostitutes, serving as prostitutes in Egypt. There the Egyptians fondled their breasts and caressed their virgin nipples. (Ezekiel chapt. 23)
Now, suppose a young woman was raped by a man, so, should I use the following verse so as to give comfort to her?:
28 If a man comes upon a young woman, a virgin who is not betrothed, seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered, 29 the man who lay with her shall give the young woman’s father fifty silver shekels and she will be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her as long as he lives. (Deut. chapt. 22)
Any thoughts??
