They don't need a reason, as stated before. I'm pretty sure Holidays aren't a disfellowshipping offense though.

Could a JW be DF for celebrating Festivus?
by Stealth inafter all, it's a secular holiday not a religious holiday.. if i was still an active member, i think i would start a new tradition of celebrating festivus.
most likely no jws would come, but that's okay, it's a famiily holiday anyway.. what grounds would the elders have to disfellowship you?.

Those of you stuck in with kids&question about spouse
by All for show init is killing me now that i am awake, having kids in school and having to be jws.
birthdays, christmas, thanksgiving, having to go home or be left out because their teachers know they are witnesses and/or have kids from the school in their class or grade.
it's a small town so the other jws in the hall know what's going on since their kids are in the same school.

after the propaganda indoctrination session, a relative asked me what my spiritual goals were, i told em i want to become a servant before i turn 23 so i could get laid.

Listening to this guy ramble about what he thinks we should wear is sickening and even worse is that my parents seem to think he's a genius who's in touch with what we need to know. *facedesk*

by tresdecu in1 - still think it's the truth ...came to this site cause danger is your middle name.. 2 - concerned, smoething's amiss but still believe.
3 - 98% sure it's bs, but still go for / with family.

So why the double standards for God?
by suavojr inwhen a man commits genocide, violates human rights, has no respect for life and kills anyone who does not conform to his ideology as ruler.
by modern ethical standards; we consider such a man as a dictator and a criminal.
it is irrelevant whether the victims were wholesome, good, bad, ugly, strange or just plain creepy.

This. This is why I decided not to be a JW.
I wouldn't want to serve a god that always does terrible things that I wouldn't do myself.

FOR SALE: Gloom, Doom, and Persecution.
by Coded Logic inreligion is the sigh of the oppressed creature - it is the spirit of a spiritless situation.. .
it's really sad that jws only ever see the bad things in the world and are either unable or unwilling to acknowledge that now is the safest and most prosperous time in all of human history to have ever lived.
within the last hundred years we have gone from the wright brothers first flight, to setting foot on the moon, to curiosity exploring another world.

My congregation will tell you that the world is nice right now because Satan is trying to trick us into letting our guard down.

The More I Think, The More I Lose Faith In BIBLE!!
by NoMoreHustle insitting through this weeks wt study.
paragraph came up about how "a fire came out from jah & consumed (korah and) the 250 men offering the incense".
i said to myself this supposedly happened couple of thousand years ago.

I'm with you. When I started thinking I realized how impossible the bible was and that there was zero evidence supporting it. It's a pretty cool story but not anything real behind it.

Rules for congregation changes
by UFCFan infirst of all, this post i made on another thread sums up why i want to change congregations so bad.. "theres the other teenagers at the kingdom hall but it's not like i can tell them anything about how i really feel because they're all brainwashed and they'll tell the elders if i tell them something questionable.
there's a girl i like that goes to my hall but i know i'll never be able to be with her because by the time i'm old enough to date by the watchtower's standards, i'll have moved away.. the worst thing is i can't even fake everything well enough to fit in with the other teens at the hall.
i'm always the outcast and if i talk sometimes the so called 'friends' will straight ignore me, even the ones that say they're my best friends.

I will try making friends outside the congregation.
About talking to the elders though, IDK how that would go because the lead elder is the father of the most popular kid here. Besides, I'm not trying to have to go to the elders for anything just to know if there's a loophole or something in the rule that says you can't change congregation.
