Thanks for the replies everyone, I kind of know that staying home isn't the smart choice but I'm a risk taker, I'm not exactly someone who takes the path that looks best.

What is dating as a JW like
by UFCFan infirst off i want to say that i'm a teenager which makes my situation interesting.
i don't want to give too many details in case someone i know reads this but i'm between 14 and 18, homeschooled, and i've been awake for around one or one and a half years.
i already have a plan to attend usc or wisconsin university if i'm smart enough to get in and then move to san jose and try and get a job working for a hs football team or with a soccer team, since i want to coach sports or be an agent.. now, this all sounds great in theory but there's one thing i've been thinking about that makes me doubt my plan.

First off I want to say that I'm a teenager which makes my situation interesting. I don't want to give too many details in case someone I know reads this but I'm between 14 and 18, homeschooled, and I've been awake for around one or one and a half years.
I already have a plan to attend USC or Wisconsin University if I'm smart enough to get in and then move to San Jose and try and get a job working for a HS football team or with a soccer team, since I want to coach sports or be an agent.
Now, this all sounds great in theory but there's one thing I've been thinking about that makes me doubt my plan.
There's a girl in my congregation who's the same age as me and I really like her. Not like a crush that you have for a month or two and then move on, I've liked her since I met her which was 3+ years ago.
I'm considering not going to college and staying home for a bit longer and trying to date her, but the big problem is that as a JW, if you date someone you're expected to marry, so I probably wouldn't get to go to college at all if I went that route.
The other problem is that I don't know if dating as a witness is even fun, I've heard about others online who say they had chaperones following them everywhere and they couldn't even enjoy their dates.
So I ask this. What's it like dating as a witness? Would it be worth it to stay home a few more years? And how's strong is the pressure to get married?

I agree with you, most likely a way to keep women inferior in the congregation. -

GB says, "Our way of worship will soon be altered."
by Separation of Powers inmy mom called me yesterday to ask how i was doing.
i hadn't seen her in a while, so it was nice to hear her voice.
we went through the motions of jw small talk and then she started telling me about her co visit from last week.

JW TV is the reason for the hysteria in the KH
by campaign of hate inif you, like me, have noticed the sudden increase in hysteria in the khs right now, i put it down to that jw tv site.
its's far more extensive than i thought it was, i thought it was just 1, 1 hour program a month.
there's a s*** load of videos on that site.. and the real problem, from just watching a clip from each video, is that these guys are clearly "mentally unstable".

Thanks for the replies guys, I might start a thread later.
The thing is, my parents are nice, I'm not sure if I want to get shunned by them when I leave. The problem is that even though they're good parents, they're mostly brainwashed into 'the truth'. Not that long ago I asked some hypothetical questions about leaving and I believe they wouldn't be very happy with me if I said I wanted to leave the truth.Well, I know for a fact that my dad watches porn(even hours after a talk at the KH about porn), so he's probably less into the religion then my mom, but she's completely in. They're really into the JWTV, one of the reasons that watching it annoys me so much is because I have to listen to them talk about how good it is and I have to pretend to like it also so it's not suspicious.
As for the future, I plan on either going to college at USC, Texas A&M, or the University of Wisconsin if I can get into either of those schools. I'll make up something about wanting to go to college and then pioneer, but I'll probably move across the country afterwards.

At least most of you are adults who don't have to watch JWTV if you don't like it.
I get forced to watch it and have to pretend to like it every month for family study and it's like water boarding for your brain.

ARE WATCHTOWER SOCIETY STATISTICS REALLY TRUSTWORTHY?
by TerryWalstrom inof these, over 2,000 were admitted to concentration camps.
1,000 died in prison and concentration camps.
another 1,000 of jehovah's witnesses died in prisons and concentration camps.".

Why would they bother lying though? They're not trustworthy but I don't think they'd make up random facts for no reason. -

I highly recommend you don't join or study with them. It's a cult and if you try and act like a normal human being you'll get kicked out. -

How do you overcome this JW excuse?
by EdenOne induring one of those meetings that took place before my jc, one of the elders, who was a good friend of mine back then and used to come up with a few outlandish personal views about some teachings, attempted to counter one of my arguments like this:.
eden - "well, if the truth doesn't change, why is it that what we teach as 'truth' has changed over the years (several examples given)?
how can we dogmatically claim at any given moment that we have 'the truth' if our teachings keep changing?".

There isn't really a counter to Elders considering most of them make up things as they go along. It's pretty funny actually if you think about some of the stuff they say.
