Do Dubbers hate the internet?

i know many of the young seem to be on it, but i also know many of the old dubbers seem to distrust it and think it leads to bad outcomes.

how many dubbers that are old that are dark on the web while their kids are all over it.

Most terrorist atrocities today are to do with religion, not evolution.

The "preaching work" is just laughable - I agree. Nowadays it seems to consist of either silently manning a JW cart in a town centre or maybe going on RVs in rural territory. What happened to the Fred Franz wannabes, the sort that would volunteer to knock on the local vicarage?

it took a few years but i finally decided to join yesterday.

my background, born-in, still go to meetings for family reasons, i am inactive however.

if you were to ask when i first woke up i would say 2010 with the overlapping generation garbage.

in the january 2012 awake, pages 28-29 there is another article about homosexuality.. .

the writers argue that genetics, the environment, and sexual abuse do not justify homosexuality.

the bible clearly states that homosexuality is wrong and is an abhorrent sin.

When I was a JW teenager I was fairly homophobic. Now that I'm older, and have actually listened and read what gay people say about their sexuality, I've come to realize that it's just the way they are - it isn't 'good' or 'bad'. Homosexuality is a natural preference that is simply not as common as heterosexuality.
Rational people think through the consequences and realise that it is hurting nobody
Don't let fundamentalists dictate how you can or cannot live your life.

RIP Leonard Nimoy.
As a kid, I wasn't big on Star Trek but found his Spock character interesting.
Also, I've always been fascinated by his surname, and wanted to know his ethnic origin. From wiki (not ideal, but there you go), apparently he was of Ukrainian-Jewish descent who could read and write Yiddish - from German: Juedisch (Jewish).

Hot topic in congregations: having a beard/goatee

i am starting this topic because i was wondering, i see many who leave "the truth" are glad because they can finally have a beard.

is having a beard really a no go in congregations?

It was a big no-no in my old congregation. I knew two friends who were brothers (not only baptised JWs but also siblings). One usually wore a neat, trimmed goatee that suited him. His younger brother was often clean-shaven but grew a goatee several times. On one occasion, he was given a good talking-to by an elder in the back room. Absolutely ridiculous!
It sounds ridiculous me saying it, but sideburns were also monitored. They had to be neatly trimmed (not bushy) and were not allowed lower than the earlobe. I remember my dad 'counselling' me for growing my sideburns down to the point of my jaw.
How's that for control-freakery?
