  How do you personally deal with your still in family JWS ?

  for myself i just try to avoid them intentionally maybe see them once every couple of years on average.

  they used to be easy going but over the last 10 years or so they got more cult like and distant and i'm really not bothered by that, maybe a bit.

  they stick to their own or other members like they are their family so, its makes it unattractive for myself to connect and reach out to them anymore.

  We have been "inactive" for almost ten years now and our huge extended JW families have zero to do with us. I noticed the most self-righteous JWs in the family only hang out with relatives in the same "JW strata" of perceived "spirituality". Elder families with elder families, MS with MS, and "weak with the "weak", and everyone avoids the "inactive"(except the former Bethelites..are there doubts???). lol.

  Glad that Mrs and I WOKE at the same time and our daughter became WOKE as well. 3rd gen had a lovely Skype with our grandson today. My heart goes out to those of you who couldn't wake your kids. :(

  25/30 complex bethelites...

  i was wondering if there are any other former bethelites who worked in this complex during the late 80s and 90s who are on this board.

  i am asking because it appears this specific set of people seemed to have or experience the worst aspects of that hell hole and i wanted to see if there are any others.

  Lived at 124 for a while. Shared the bathroom with Sidlick and he was my weekend table head. Odd dude. Upset when his wife chatted with me..uhh..she was sitting directly across from me and lived 2 doors away. Was she supposed to wear a veil and not speak? lol!

  Ray Franz was very open and hospitable. Had dinner at his apt one night and chatted regularly.

  Chitty was an odd one. Liked to sunbathe on the roof in a tiny speedo. Asked me where I was from...I said "San Francisco"..he grinned and then asked me to rub suntan oil on his back and bum one afternoon. I declined.

  Disfellowhipped for not wearing facemask?

  yup - person has done nothing wrong.

  but they have called a judicial and from what i can tell refusing to wear a facemask is bothering them more than the person not turning up.. so is this new light?

  if you have been called to a judical please remember to stay safe and wear your personal protective equimpment.

  If two elders were listening on speakerphone, and the JW openly questioned WT, they had all they needed for a charge of apostasy. If JW didn't answer the loyalty questions correctly and refused to recant, they had all they needed to Disfellowship in 2020. It is a cult, nothing to do with Christianity.

  Zoog Mine Fire

  the zoog fire is burning just outside of redding ca., 0% containment, 3 dead.

  sounded like ww2 with air tanker traffic going over the house yesterday.

  quite amazing the size of aircraft used; large jets, military air lift transport plus the prop jobs of cal fire.

  Large wildfires do magnify the best and worst of humanity. The unsung heros, like all the public safety workers, and volunteers..like volunteer firefighters, volunteer animal rescue, volunteers with Salvation Army, Volunteers with Red Cross, Volunteers with church groups like shepherd's purse, and most mainstream churches assisting evacuees.

  The worst of humanity is also magnified. Politicians show up and stand on the ashes of people's homes to push various political agendas and point fingers and get free publicity. Carloads of armed looters get through fire lines to rob evacuated homes and businesses.

  a woman is suing a local congregation ("kingdom hall of jehovah’s witnesses, roy, utah, an unincorporated association"), individual elders and watchtower ny after, she claims, a judicial committee forced her to listen an audio recording of her own rape.

  the trial court summarized the facts as alleged by the plaintiff as follows:.

  at the time of the judicial committee, plaintiff was fifteen years old.

  My heart has always gone out to the victim and parents. They have been members on this board for years, and I met them at the Tahoe Appostafest years ago.

  Had I not experienced the (top-down) convoluted backward thinking of many JW elders even in New York City and California, and met the likable, solid, and intelligent parents, I would have thought the entire horrific story incredulous.

  Kudos to this family for keeping up the fight. Even in a small Mormon majority town and state, many authorities find Watchtower policies despicable and stone age.

  MICKEY SPILLANE and MIKE HAMMER novels (A tough guy JW back in the good old days of Knorr)

  spillane, mickey spillane.

  he pulled no punches and his pen was as fast as his gun.

  after all, it took almost three whole weeks for mickey to type his first novel.

  Thanks for the memory Terry! I only remember my mother hissing about Mickey Spillane when I saw him on the Merv Griffen show. "He writes dirty books!!!!!!" lol :)

  MORTALITY rates Pre-Covid and Post-Covid (How are we going to understand?)

  i got out my calculator and looked up mortality statistics.

  i wanted to get a "feel" for what is normal ina non-pandemic world in order to compare with how things are now.once had had a "feeling" for it i began to notice that media has a dramatic (perhaps overblown) tendency toterrify the public by framing death rates, predictions, and political discord hysterically.

  Mortality rates now vs a normal 6 mo period would be hard to compare. Few traffic accidents. No elective surgery screw-ups. Few job accidents. No one stressing out at work having heart attacks.

  I bought these two books out garage saleing

  the truth that leads to eternal life at a church rummage sale.

  1968 printing and a 74 printing of god's eternal purpose now triumphing for mens good.

  i know the truth book has some things in it that are a bit damning.

  I always like the Truth book chapter "Why is it wise to examine your religion".

  "Life Everlasting in the Freedom of the son's of God " has a lot of the 1975 predictions.
