If you can afford it...who cares? Does anyone REALLY believe that a supreme being that created multiple galaxies cares that some young earth women dress up and have a party? :)

As soon as 1976 Watchtower was into damage control mode. Talks and articles denied they made a false prophecy. The fact that the publications were still around with the false prophesy in print made matters worse...false prophecy and outright lies compounded the issue. Many left in the late 70s. The early Truth book, magazines, KMs and Red "Life Everlasting" book memorialized their blunders.

The 1975 hoopla that began in the 60s...who could forget it! I knew more than a few Elders who sold homes and retired early to "pioneer" because Armageddon was coming any day. Those Elders squandered their equity and savings in their 50s and worked into their 70s, only to die years later in poverty.
I was in Bethel in the late 70s. Ray Franz and Cynthia were kind, hospitable, and sincere people who got a raw deal and were lied about by many "loving" JWs.

Ted Jaracz a molester?
by Confession ini've seen little bites about this for over a year.
i understand that somewhere there is a video in which a woman named pat garza publicly accuses wts governing body member ted jaracz of having molested her as a child.
does anyone have this video?

I knew Ted at Bethel. My opinion of him was that he was an aloof Ass, but I liked his wife.
My father-in-law GAVE him $10,000 in the 60s to buy a trailer, so he was nice to his benefactor.
Ted would stay with family members in the 60s when he was a CO. I never heard a word about the child molesting accusations. However, because of the family relationships and gifts, I asked him to intercede on behalf of my JW mother-in-law, a widow, who could not get watchtower to return a $20,000+ loan she had made them. (She needed the money for medical expenses). Ted would not even answer the phone or my letters to help the widow of the man who had GIVEN him $10,000. That told me everything I needed to know about the guy.

Wow. While not a PEW survey, I found these to be surprising results. " A recent YouGov poll explores Americans' attitudes toward 35 religious groups, organizations, and belief systems. Belief systems that encompass the largest shares of Americans — including Christianity, Catholicism, and Protestantism — are among the ones the most Americans view favorably. Viewed least favorably are Satanism and Scientology.
The poll asked 1,000 respondents whether they viewed a random sample of 17 of the 35 religions or groups very favorably, somewhat favorably, neither favorably nor unfavorably, somewhat unfavorably, or very unfavorably; respondents also could select "not sure" instead of any of these. To produce a net score for each religion or group, we subtracted the share who said they view each one unfavorably from the share who said they view it favorably." https://today.yougov.com/topics/society/articles-reports/2022/12/23/americans-views-religious-groups-yougov-poll?fbclid=IwAR2tG9pKU2YEB9EaAqtRzO7H6b1GVZm7vcYgDxkDA4sUV0-FXY4fXWDjy40

Will JWs throw you under the bus if you have a transfusion?
by Vanderhoven7 inmark writes.
"if a person accepts a blood transfusion, the jehovah’s witness elders are required to “investigate” to see if the person is sorry for “cowardly” saving their life.
if the person doesnt beg and grovel to the elders for allowing the doctor to save their life (or that of their child) then the elders can take this as a sign that he/she has disassociated from the congregation - and tell the congregation to start shunning them.. if someone willingly takes blood, perhaps because of being under extreme pressure, the committee should obtain the facts and determine the individual’s attitude.

Of course, there are LOTS of JWs who work in insurance or at hospitals or medical offices transcribing medical records, and coding for insurance billing, so I imagine even a discrete JW could be outed.
Years ago a few sisters who worked for Stanford Medical routinely & secretly informed Elders about any JWs who took blood, had abortions, had STDs, smoked, and single sisters on birth control, etc, etc. The "Guilty" never met their accusers or had any idea how the elders found out.

by peacefulpete ina lot of ink has been spilled on the topic of the cross.
the wt felt it had uncovered some deep conspiracy when they found a number of words were used to describe how jesus was understood to have been killed.
there was an extensive thread many years ago that in short strongly supports the conclusion that at least some nt writers envisioned a cross, while others had a tree in mind.

Watchtower/Rutherford LOVED anything that made them seem different. Therefore the big hoopla over the cross. The Romans like many ancient cultures could be quite brutal, and they became efficient at torture theatre to keep the masses in check. Around 70 BCE they crucified 6,000 followers of Sparticus along the Apian way, so the practice is, and was not a big secret or mystery.

Elders told to befriend young ones.
by LostintheFog1999 insomeone on this forum kindly posted a link to the program of the current elders' training schools taking place.. i was just looking at it and thought that the part i have highlighted looks innocent enough unless the elder has an overfondness for young ones.. if he is spending too much time with the younger ones he can say, with hand on his heart, i am simply following through on the latest direction from the organisation about befriending, training, and mentoring the young.

I faded about 12 years ago during an illness and move out of town- different circuit.
I "dripped" little truths and questions on the wife (3rd gen) for a couple of years and she faded, then read Ray Franze's books and was gone 100%.
A couple of C.O.s tried to have a "meeting" with me but I simply didn't return the calls or answer the door and after 5 years they gave up.
I "dripped" questions and truths on Mom for a few years and she faded. Our daughter quit.
Did the same with old JW friends on Facebook. Most are OUT now. Lots of material from this site. :)
JW cousins and local JWs are now frenemies who shun us, but we don't care (a few hundred people) :)
