by CuriousAboutJW ini have a friend who is a witness, and i wanted to send them a message on tuesday, but i'm not entirely sure what to say.

Tony Morris was an orderly in a hospital in Vietnam, not a combat medic. PTSD would be stolen valor on his part.
He is a garden-variety drunk and pompous ass.

Once again this was a tragic event. However, I am interested in how this affects the thinking process of the rank-and-file JW. For decades JWs read and heard how the "Angels protect JWs in service and at meetings". Obviously, when the GB canceled all meetings in person for 2 years they didn't believe Jehovah could stop a virus. (Our local Pentecostal Churches kept meeting in person believing god would protect them from snakebites, poison, or COVID).
How has this affected any PIMI JWs you know?

30 years ago David Koresh and his WACO Adventist cult experienced their "Armageddon". Great documentary on Net Flix.
by Balaamsass2 ina fascinating look into the human mind, cults, religion, child abuse, and mental illness colliding with government bureaucracy.. 3rd gen and i watched this tonight.
impossible not to see some similarities between watchtower teachings, fear-mongering, and its "compounds".. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scz2x7r_xxc.

The bunker mentality and fear of outside "Worldly People" were palpable at Brooklyn headquarters when I was there. I had to keep a straight face and not roll my eyes when I asked Knorr's assistant, Dave Mercante about them. The number of tunnels, unmarked subterranean locked rooms, emergency generators, and multi-month food storage would make any Mormon or Koresh follower proud.

How far has Watchtower and the GB of Jehovah's Witnesses gone to stalk and silence critics?
by Balaamsass2 inwe have all watched some of the documentaries about the church of scientology hiring detectives to stalk and harass their former members,( their "apostates").
i have heard of individual cases of rabid jw elders stalking ex-jws, and of course, one would expect some enforcement of corporate copyright infringement on anti-jw websites.. what were the most outrageous jw "stalking" or investigation stories you remember?.
tonight's 60 minutes into ebay stalking a middle-aged couple who writes a newsletter reminded me a lot of the menlo park congregation watchtower "takeover", closure, and stalking of local elders to mind.

Lee, that Watchtower Quotes site was one of the first "apostate" sites that really got under my skin and started crawling around in my head. I had all those old books and the quotes were 100% accurate. A very effective site.

New blood card
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inall elders just got letters about this new blood card system .
“language-coordinating congregations will receive separate parcel(s) containing the revised durable power of attorney for health care (dpa-e) for all congregation(s) in their literature group.“.
my questions are - why the revision and what has been revised?.

I would suggest any PIMOs - fully WOKE JWs make color copies of the new card and make small changes to ALLOW ALL medically necessary procedures. After your family or local elders sign the new "Official" medical directive put it in a drawer and replace it with your new "Altered... "SAVE MY ASS NOW CARD" :).
Keep the original around for elders' schools, visiting Bethel, etc. And for heaven's sake do the same for your kids!!!! Watchtower's official card is simply a "heaven's Gate" Cult suicide pact agreement to prove loyalty.
Even Orthodox Jews who bleed everything dry to eat Kosher, take blood, understanding that Blood REPRESENTS life and that LIFE is what is sacred.
The whole subject of bleeding animals in the Kosher style to eliminate eating all blood was addressed and tossed when the extra labor and costs were calculated at BETHEL in the 70s. Yep, it costs a few cents extra to stay free of blood for Bethelites and the GB so they ignore it, but it's OK for the rank and file and their kids to DIE.

Does Gilead have any accreditation?
by journey-on inwhen a witness talks about someone who has "graduated" from gilead, they always make it sound like such an accomplishment as if they graduated from harvard or somethin...lol.
i know it's called the watchtower bible school of gilead and is located at the watchtower educational center in patterson, ny (sounds impressive, uh?)..
it used to be known as the watchtower bible college of gilead in south lansing, ny.. does this school have any accreditation that you know of or is it just glorified classroom training for jw "missionaries"?

The "Gilead" Parchment helped family members get into their assignments with long term VISAs as "Teachers".
A local "Bible College" in town "The Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry" ( A former Assembly of God Pentecostal group with a splash of New Age and Rock music). has a 6-& 24-month "school" that gets waivers from the state department for extended Visas. Lots of "born again" crazy spinsters from all over the world attend so they can get a "Minister's Parchment", and hopefully, a California hubby and green card. The founder is making $$ and drives around town in a Masaratti, so it seems to be working for him at least. lol. https://bssm.net/

After only being enrolled for a half year, Gilead students used to spend half of every day working. Cutting potatoes in the kitchen, laundry, etc. How many credits would that make? Not many. Junior College takes four times as long.
6 family members attended Gilead. I worked next to multiple Gilead students at Bethel. The Academic stringency was very low. I think the primary purpose of Gilead was for HQ staff to get to know these future branch personnel better to weed out "undesirables". Yes, some were wackier than the average Bethelite.

Tony hasn't held a job....almost forever. His Social Security will be almost zero. I imagine he will qualify for food stamps, and public assistance for health care...even in the deep south. It appears they are handling him with velvet gloves if they allowed him to stay in his room for a few weeks( most Bethelites are tossed out within 12 hrs for any behavior issues). Perhaps they gave him a severance package with a signed non-disclosure agreement.
