Latest awake on JW.org
by aboveusonlysky inthe latest awake (no 3 2020) on jw.org is just breathtaking, it's about prejudice and gives the following 3 examples which i will one by one attemp to debunk.. awake - some employers have mistakenly believed that women are unqualified for scientific or technical jobs.. erm... women are not only forbidden from elder or m/s appointment, they're not even considered qualified enough to adjust the height of a brother's microphone, you were saying?.....
awake - in medieval europe, jews were falsely accused of poisoning wells and spreading disease.
during nazi rule, jews were again slandered.

Hello!
by Caedus inbeen reading here for a few years.. 4th gen jw, born and raised, served for a few years which was the catalyst for me.
the politics, backstabbing, slandering and coercive tactics in particular caused a constant internal struggle.
i started researching and focused only on the stories of ex-elders/servants to see if i was the only one - i wasn't.. the rest is history..

Welcome. Ex 3rd generation here. Yes, sitting through local and assembly elders meetings learning better "theocratic strategy" to obstruct authorities (Lying &fraud) regarding domestic abuse, child abuse, and financial fraud from the local circuit overseer and "faithful slave" does seem to wake one up.

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses avoid examining their own religion? An interesting read from Scientific American Magazine.
by Balaamsass2 infor a long time, i thought pimi (physically in, mentally in) jws were unique in their inability to simply type and read the latest "google" news results about "jehovah's witnesses " or "watchtower".
however, it appears it is not uncommon for a large portion of the population purposefully to avoid facts...on purpose!
"why do people avoid facts that could help them?.

Cofty..I agree. TESTS. The Doc sent me one of those mail in Colon Cancer tests a while back. It sat on the counter for a month +. The idea of a "positive" created unexplained procrastination.
I personally KNEW Ray Franz at Bethel. I spoke with him about various things and had dinner with him and Cynthia in their room in the 1970s. I KNEW him to be a straight shooter, BUT it took me YEARS to read his book "Crises of Conscience". And even more years to add all the parts evidence together and leave the Borg.

Have any WTS quotations advising members of other faiths to examine their religions?
Yes. I conducted a number of studies with people in the little blue "Truth" book years ago. 1968/1969 ish. I believe the 2cd -3rd chapter was entitled "Why is it wise to examine your religion". That chapter disappeared in later years. :)

DO NOT make any frontal attacks. Provide fun alternatives during meeting times. Ask sincere questions. Don't chase a kitten...bait it.

It's a close horse race between two old white guys in their 70s during a pandemic duking it out for the world's most stressful job. COVID, strokes, dementia, or a heart attack could choose the winner in Nov.

"Why Do People Avoid Facts That Could Help Them?
"Several studies suggest that individuals widely prefer to remain ignorant about information that would benefit them when it’s painful—and sometimes when it’s pleasurable"
"Related research points to a similar conclusion: We often prefer to avoid learning information that could cause us pain."

I pay the extra $5 a month on my Amazon Prime to get the History Channel. I watched a fascinating show called "Banned from the Bible" (it is still available). About the Apocrypha and other very common letters and books available prior to the "Official" versions accepted in the third century. Some were written by....drumroll....women. :) (Ever wonder WHY JWs toss all that nasty stuff "false religion" accepted in the 3rd century...but KEEP the books those bad guys wanted in the Bible...???)
Really got me thinking. I highly recommend History Channels':

He is already serving the JWs worst punishment. If you guys want to date do it ...now. Read a couple of books on getting out of cults and Ray Franze's book "Crises of conscious". Read the website JW Facts and ask him to explain why they are wrong. You may actually make his life better. Tell him upfront you do not want to join a cult or convert. Plan fun things on Sundays.
