how long after a fade does the local hall keep your records?

so i have not been to a kh for 26 years.

if i wanted to dissociate what would be the procedure and is there any gain in doing it so long after i left?.

As a former "Cong. Secretary" ten years ago, I never tossed cards. I just took them out of the current box the C.O. would look through every visit. After about a year of inactivity, I took them out and added them to a stack of inactive/moved cards with a rubber band buried in the back of the Congregation Files. Reason? C.O.s would ask about every inactive publisher and push for a "resolution" during each visit. "Resolution" meant pestering the person with "shepherding calls" and unannounced "visits" with the C.O. afternoons. C.O.s had questions like: "How much effort have you Elders made to re-activate this publisher? Does the publisher have secret sins? Sometimes resulting in "Investigations".

If no one is bothering you, why wake a sleeping dog? Enjoy your life. :)

Less judgemental with family, myself, and individual people. More judgemental with organizations that lie and bilk people out of their life's savings.

Interesting letters. I imagine the first attendees will be elders and wannabee elders. Brother attendant...don't you BELIEVE ME! you want to see my vaccination card?! I have to sign in?? Contributions are counted after EACH meeting (Yikes! now they will know I am cheap).

After a month I can see letters going out to halls with council about spiritual slackers not covering "financial obligations" of particular Kingdom Halls. "Perhaps certain halls whose members are not shouldering spiritual ($$)responsibilities will be sold and servant bodies will need to requalify at the new halls".

Meanwhile, "slacker" halls will be sold "because the members didn't appreciate their "spiritual responsibilities".

My 20 year anniversary

after being a jehovah's witness for 52 years, today marks my 20 year anniversary of being out of the borg!

i turned in my letter of disassociation on september 18th 2001. it was read to the congregation on september 19th, my wife's birthday.

of course the years have had its difficulties but it has also had many wonderful experiences and epiphanies.

Good news and bad news --- pandemic and Kingdom Halls.

good news bad news pandemic and kingdom halls.. first the bad news, coming out of israel - one of the first countries to push total vaccination.

the news is the vaccine especially the pfizer one looks like it wears off and hospital rates have gone up for those that have been vaccinated.

Years ago I was sick and missed a month's worth of meetings. I wandered onto this site and others, read lots of history, and became AWAKE! Later that year my wife was in bed recovering from surgery, read this site and Ray Franz's "Crisis of Conscience"... and she became AWAKE. Just having a little free time to think away from meetings for a month, can have a big impact. I wonder how many have become aware after missing over a year's worth of meetings?

Disfellowhipped for not wearing facemask?

yup - person has done nothing wrong.

but they have called a judicial and from what i can tell refusing to wear a facemask is bothering them more than the person not turning up.. so is this new light?

if you have been called to a judical please remember to stay safe and wear your personal protective equimpment.

The two witnesses could be for two or more instances of "apostasy" over time. That is why it is best to just leave once your eyes open.

How do you personally deal with your still in family JWS ?

for myself i just try to avoid them intentionally maybe see them once every couple of years on average.

they used to be easy going but over the last 10 years or so they got more cult like and distant and i'm really not bothered by that, maybe a bit.

they stick to their own or other members like they are their family so, its makes it unattractive for myself to connect and reach out to them anymore.

We have been "inactive" for almost ten years now and our huge extended JW families have zero to do with us. I noticed the most self-righteous JWs in the family only hang out with relatives in the same "JW strata" of perceived "spirituality". Elder families with elder families, MS with MS, and "weak with the "weak", and everyone avoids the "inactive"(except the former Bethelites..are there doubts???). lol.

Glad that Mrs and I WOKE at the same time and our daughter became WOKE as well. 3rd gen had a lovely Skype with our grandson today. My heart goes out to those of you who couldn't wake your kids. :(

i was wondering if there are any other former bethelites who worked in this complex during the late 80s and 90s who are on this board.

i am asking because it appears this specific set of people seemed to have or experience the worst aspects of that hell hole and i wanted to see if there are any others.

Lived at 124 for a while. Shared the bathroom with Sidlick and he was my weekend table head. Odd dude. Upset when his wife chatted with me..uhh..she was sitting directly across from me and lived 2 doors away. Was she supposed to wear a veil and not speak? lol!

Ray Franz was very open and hospitable. Had dinner at his apt one night and chatted regularly.

Chitty was an odd one. Liked to sunbathe on the roof in a tiny speedo. Asked me where I was from...I said "San Francisco"..he grinned and then asked me to rub suntan oil on his back and bum one afternoon. I declined.

If two elders were listening on speakerphone, and the JW openly questioned WT, they had all they needed for a charge of apostasy. If JW didn't answer the loyalty questions correctly and refused to recant, they had all they needed to Disfellowship in 2020. It is a cult, nothing to do with Christianity.
