Voting, why make it easier to vote??

democrats are always harping on and on about voting rights and how the ability to vote should be easier and access unrestricted.

the most progressive ones want to allow prisoners, and illegals with no voter id the ability to vote along with the criminals, drug addicts, and uneducated low lives who already can vote.. .

after they push for everyone and anyone to be able to vote they then tell us it is a sacred privilege, a duty and honor, and a big responsibility blah, blah ect..... if it is all those grandiose things are true i think it should be harder to vote not easier.

Was my comment insulting? No, not in my opinion. A 100 IQ is average in the USA, just like the average male height is 5' 9". Factually, half the population is below average in IQ and height. Both realities affect abilities in some areas. 10% of Americans never graduated from High School. 38% of Americans have graduated college. Some studies claim 40% of America doesn't watch or read ANY news daily.

My point is if you are, or have been living in ANY kind of bubble it is important to question WHAT you believe, WHY you believe it, and what your information source is/was. Having grown up and existed in the JW CULT for the majority of my life I constantly have to question my long held JW beliefs/world view and information sources for them, and avoid simply replacing them with just as faulty beliefs.

I believe that overestimating ones understanding is a common issue for current and ex-JWs that existed in the Watchtower knowledge and opinion bubble for years. "The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people wrongly overestimate their knowledge or ability in a specific area. This tends to occur because a lack of self-awareness prevents them from accurately assessing their own skills."

The Watchtower Society Hedge Fund

the watchtower society hedge fundseveral weeks ago it came to my attention via the e-jehovahs-witnesses discussion board that the watchtower society had devised a new money raising scheme.

the scheme is to beg and borrow money from each individual congregation account, which they deem to be in excess of the congregation's actual expenses.

i half jokingly responded to the topic then that the watchtower has become a hedge fund.

Watchtower reps are invited to a number of exclusive investing seminars open only to the top 2%. Watchtower has experienced JW Attorneys, CPAs, Stockbrokers, Traders, and Arbitrage experts.

As far back as the 1970s I was surprised to see the Wall Street Journal delivered daily to rooms of the Governing Body.

First of all, after leaving Watchtower I decided to never again be a mindless gullible drone and join ANY CULT, RELIGION, TRIBE..OR....Political Party.

I also remember an attorney co-worker's favorite saying: "Never forget HALF the people you meet today have an IQ below 100".

Therefore I vote independent. I also read a VARIETY of news sources every day...and even take those sources with a large grain of salt.

Before making sweeping statements about political parties, demographics, or politicians promises, and records, take a few minutes and do some research. If where you got the original mis-information from is wrong, think twice before relying on that source again.

when i was a kid....i used to look at the wt illustrations of paradise conditions and would day dream about life in the new system....i later used this same technique (shame on me) to brain wash bible students.

however...as i grew up lol (apparently!

) the illustrations changed....and became more modern.

I see a lot of apples, bananas, and tomatoes in most WT paradise depictions, and there is usually a snow-capped mountain in the background. The art department guys in NYC didn't get out much, or even garden or farm. lol. :)

Ah so many "JW Paradise" pictures to choose from... It is fun to let ones AWAKE mind ask pointed questions. Where are the ironed outfits from? Why Clothes? Just HOW did the big predators get to the mountains? What about the fresh vegetables? No roads? Ties? Suspenders? Lawnmowers? Hair dressers? Africa is a LONG way from the Rockies or the Alps...

Ahhh those "Paradise" pictures in all the publications. As a kid, I wondered how the African Lions got to the Swiss Alps and Canadian Rockies. I also wondered how the fruit lady got Bananas and pineapples to the same places. Mom said, "On big sailboats". "We will have sailboats in the new system".
