i am looking for a copy that has that map inside front cover with the raptor.

Why is it wrong for Christians to celebrate Christmas?

this was inspired by terry's thread.... it is something that raises many questions about the jw belief system.. .

for one thing - the bible certainly explains all the details of the christ birth.

it certainly does not tell people to avoid celebrating it with feasts, customs, etc.

my mom explained it to me this way, its not in the bible. [?]

its pagan, its selfish, like birthdays, you show how selfish you are by wanting presents and jehovah hates selfish people.

so i was taught to want anything is showing selfishness. and to think of yourself as being special, and none of us are special were all the same.

so, i never asked for anything, even a box of cereal! lol. anyone relate??

so brainwashed was i , growing up, about how being selfish was bad, till this day do not now how to take a compliment.

I rarely take credit for anything, i let my husband walk al over me, and everyone else for that matter.

I deny myself anything new, shopping at thrift shops,

and anything fun. i dont know how to have fun, its selfish to have fun.

i do for everyone else and expect, and get, little or nothing in return. not that I care i do for people becasue it make thier day good.

so, this is dificult to even think about doing holidays. i just cooked a turkey dinner and then when my sister posted photos on facebook of my table.

i felt compeleld to make an excuse as to why i had the dinner in the first place ,[which would be true,i dont care for the history of the day] i posted

'a day off and family what else do we do'.

and then posted a link from alternet or wired, cant recall, on how we should be ashamed to celebrate a holiday that was a reminder of how rotten back then they treated the indians.

those poor indian nations forgotten all the time.

yea, in my family Im an outlier , the odd one. that weird one with the mac book who likes to watch ted talks ,pbs nightly news and reads foreign affairs. lol.

no one so far remotely thinks like me accept my son. its no wonder im so bored, lol

so ive recently: joined the forum, read cofc, began reading combating cult mind control.....and today i gotta letter from my mother.

i thought i'd share it with others so that i can gain some hidden insight, and perhaps just to encourage someone else here who has relatives who are still mentally locked in.

does she know that brothers in minnisota have beards for warmth?

does she have an answer to why the society has beards on all thier men in the illistrations?

does she have any scripture to support it?

this was always an issue for me the hair amd beard thing.

why are moustaches ok???

my husband grew a beard years ago for a family photo, and the brothers told him he had to shave before he gave his next talk.

if he knew then what he knows now [hed for one not been there lol,] he would have ignored them.

i prefer him with a beard, he has no chin,

i dont find him attractive in the least bit without one. [im not a fan of beards, theyre ok, but for him i think he needs one.]

i like those beards that are short tp the face with flames cut into them, cool.

Any Veggie Juicers Here?

i have been juicing off and on for a couple of years ever since i saw a the documentary, sick, fat, and nearly dead, and my health has taken a remarkable upswing.

no doubt in my mind that drinking live celled water rich green veggie juice is one of the best things you can do for your health and longevity.

time is sometimes a thing, and don't always have the time and patience to juice the veggies and clean up the juicer parts.

im not a juicer, but have seen that documentary, and my father when he does juice, feels better.

the only way to know of the wheatgrass works is to read the reviews, vita cost is a pretty cheap place to buy that stuff.

fantastic site, they got soooo much there! thier coconut oil price cant be beat.

let me ask, has your craving for sugar left while your juiceng? im a carb a holic, and i love black tea with honey.

i cant see juicing though too messy and i cant afford organic produce. i cant swallow green juice drinks I gag.

so i try to eat a lot of salads. doesnt seem to do me any good as long as i crave the sugars.

i mean its says right in there not to pray in public, or babble on, how many 10 minuet long babbling prayers have you endured ??.

where in the bible does it tell us anyone prayed for a large group of people publicly, or even in front of the family at their homes?.

it says in vs 14 to be forgiving, how can disfellowshipping someone be forgiving?

and to lend when asked, how many people do you know would even think of asking the elders to lend them some money from the congregation savings account for an emergency auto repair? or a set of new tires or food? no one I know.

funny, just yesterday I was talking to my mom who just had her C.O.visit, she told me they went out on thanksgiving day

I said wouldnt it have been better had they instead of bothering people who have company, went and visited people from the kingdom hall?how does anyone ever get to know anyone if all they do is say hello to you at the kingdom hall?

she quickly dfended it saying 'well they most likely went to older return visits and some of the ones who were sick. , [no, they didnt this i know]

well, I sat there bitting my tongue, becasue what i wanted to say was ,

you dont need a circus overseer visiting for the sole purpose of checking up on everyones feild service records, and dictating new rules to the elders

what you need is the local brothers to actually give a crap about the real people that are alreaddy in the congregations and maybe associating with people and getting to KNOW them as FREINDS!

what other than tp check up on people and provide intimidation to the elders is the real purpose of a co??
