Do you feel bad throwing away literature?
by stuckinarut2 inso do you feel bad throwing away your old literature?.
what about your old song book or bible from your early days in the org?.
if so, is it because of sentimentality, monetary cost or because it might be 'sacred' ?.

Introducing myself
by maksutov inmy name is russ, i'm 40 years old, from the uk, and i left the jws nearly 5 years ago.
i've been a member of the yuku board throughout that time, so there are probably some on here who know me already.
there seems to be more activity over here at the moment, so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.i was raised as a jw, started questioning it when i was 16, but there was no internet back then (well, no www anyway) so i got sucked right in and got baptized when i was 18. auxiliary pioneered on and off for a couple of years, then became a ministerial servant.

NAILING DOWN the fraud of John 1:1 by demonstration
by TerryWalstrom incall me crazy, but i love to watch seminary classes when sharp teachers are in charge of the instruction.. in the following video, the teacher really nails jehovah's witnesses on john 1:1 with utter simplicity.. begin at 1 hour and 20 minutes in.. i've never seen or heard of this before.. .

I have to agree Terry. I mean we all know from previous research that John 1:1 was changed to fit JW doctrine, but it's great to see just how wrong they've got it. It's not just a case of inserting 'a' before God but the entire sentence structure as it should be is corrupted in a lot of modern translations. -

I totally hear you dhoh and sf! As much as some of this is interesting I can't help but think, why would an intelligent creator make it so bloody complicated to make himself understood. Not just that but also that he had to pass this nonsensical dribble down though dozens of channels, when he could simply TELL us what to expect and what he expects from us. -

Do Jehovah's Witnesses Shun?
by lurkernomore injust checked the faq on jw.org as i wanted to show a df'd friend of ours how dishonest they were being about thier shunning policy.. well don't you know they've only gone and got honest about shunning df'd ones:.
'we do not automatically disfellowship someone who commits a serious sin.
if, however, a baptized witness makes a practice of breaking the bibles moral code and does not repent, he or she will be shunned or disfellowshipped.

Thanks for the extra info Blondie.
I find it amazing how THEY feel THEY are in a position to decide that 'principles' of the ABANDONED mosaic law are to be viewed as gospel. That's millions of very deluded people! So glad I'm no longer one of them!

Well the friend I mentioned in the OP has been dfd for a couple years now but last time we met he still felt it was the truth but couldn't live up to it. Needless to say I helped him see the error of his ways and enlightened him on a few truths about 'the truth' lol. He sees things very differently now.
I wanted to show him the FAQ on shunning so he could perhaps show his parents (who shun him until they want/need something from him).
I was hoping he could find some way to reconnect using their own words against them... It seems I'm a little late :(

Just checked the FAQ on JW.org as i wanted to show a Df'd friend of ours how dishonest they were being about thier shunning policy.
Well don't you know they've only gone and got honest about shunning Df'd ones:
'We do not automatically disfellowship someone who commits a serious sin. If, however, a baptized Witness makes a practice of breaking the Bible’s moral code and does not repent, he or she will be shunned or disfellowshipped. The Bible clearly states: “Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.”—1 Corinthians 5:13.'
I guess here's more proof they're paying close attention to the Ex JW community lol!
