Hello Everybody
by Thomas the Bill Engine ini didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.
i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.
my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.

Intro
by hillfy333 inhi, although i signed up two years ago, and filled out the "interview with an apostate" as hillfy54321, i have since only read various posts.
then purchased a new computer and lost my password, thus no new posts.
i have since reapplied, and now go under the handle of hillfy 333.. a little about myself.

Thanks for that bit of background information. It's amazing how people who've called themselves your 'brothers' just don't bother once you've made the choice to no longer attend meetings.
We've been out 18 months now. There was no call from the elders for last year's memorial and I'm sceptical as to whether they'll bother this year.
I'm really glad to made the choice to cut off and enjoy your life, hopefully your wife will follow soon.

So , how "worldly" did you get?
by greenhornet ini even hate to use that word worldly tm.. any way i'm probably the worst.. 1 when the jw s come to my door i say i'm not interested .
2 i have gone to many churches and volunteered.. 3 i shredded all my jw books and magazines out in the woods.. 4 had the mormon elders over and studied with them.. 5 tried pot (its legal here).
6 open carry my fire arm every where (legal here also).

I dabble in the lottery from time to time. I tried my first proper cigar at a friends (also exjw) 30th birthday. I use profanity when the occasion calls for it and sometimes when it doesn't ;)
I voted for the first time last year but clearly for the wrong party lol. I have to agree with JW'S to a point when it comes to politics, as especially in the UK it seems that all politicians are nothing but a bunch of self serving p#@cks! They make plenty of shiny promises and then fail to deliver, or deliver an amended version of the original promise.
I have yet to give blood but it's definitely on my to do list.
Apart from this I'm still the same person. Happy to help people in need and try to be as honest as possible.

What's the purpose of being a JW now?
by MrTheocratic inwith all the recent changes to this religion, what really is the purpose of being a jw?
especially for those who have been in and witnessed all the changes and still no sight of the end.
for these ones in particular (35-55 year olds) they must be in a state of confusion.

I went for a drink with an Elder in his early 30's a few weeks back and although he respected my wish not to go into why I no longer attended he just had to mention all the great changes which are happening because we're sooo close to the end. He's a bright lad as well, but just a bit potty for the org.
Then just yesterday I got talking to an ex Elder (he stepped down years ago due to mental health issues) and although being all about 'The Truth' he did say he couldn't go on much longer and longs for the new system. He's in in late 40's now, so from my experience it is ones in this group upwards that are feeling the strain of not getting what was promised by the GB.
Oh and I just remembered overhearing a group of older ladies in their 70's joking yet serious, about how they didn't think they would see 70 in this system of things!!! CD at its finest.

Wow! Ridiculous thread and even more riduculous comments by some on here.
Totally with Pete Z and Landy on this one, creating something out of nothing like this does nothing but feed the stereotype JW'S have of apostates.

Do You Remember The First Time You Looked At "Apostate" Material?
by minimus ini was always fascinated by it.
as a kid, i used to go to the local library and secretly read books by so called apostates.
later, i would sneak into christian book stores and quickly buy a book or two.

I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was on Facebook and cringed at a JW meme a 'friend' had posted. For some reason I decided ides to look at the comments to see how others felt about it.
One of those pesky apostates mentioned the wtbs UN association which made my blood boil. I thought I'd research it and came across a few sites such as this one and JW Facts. Once I opened that can of worms there was no going back.
Both my wife and I have been out for over 18 months. I'm so glad our girls won't be part of this destructive group and go now to lead normal lives (at least I hope so) free from indoctrination.

An inguinal hernia.
by Fisherman inthere are a couple of schools of thought on this.
some doctors recommend postponing surgery others recommend laparascopic surgery, etc.
how about local anesthesia, complications during and after surgery and other concerns.

I had one on each side as a child. I was too young to remember the first as I was only 2 (non mesh repair and under general) and had the second around 9 for which i went under general (mesh repair).
Have had no problems since, but do have some tenderness there atm, as I just underwent a Vasectomy (local) 5 days ago as they scrambled me good on the one side ;)
