Thanks for the hugs! And thanks to everyone for their kind words of insight and support. I can see now that this is going to be a long journey. Someone mentioned humanist? What is that?

While I'm glad I found this site, it has also crumbled to bits everything I've believed in my whole life. I feel like the certainty, magic and wonder has gone out of my life. This has left a huge hole in my soul. Just what do I believe in now? Is there a god? I feel like I need god in my life, I just don't know where to find him anymore??? Help??

Wow reading these posts just wow! These are songs that I grew up with and loved! They'd moved me to tears and when sung by a assembly hall full of jw's I used to think I felt the holy spirit amongst us!
And now that illusion is all crumbling...

PAYBACK: How Judge Rutherford conceived the MILITARY neutrality policy
by Terry inwhen rutherford published (in defiance of russell's will) a phoney posthumus final volume of russell's studies in the sciptures (the finished mystery) problems began which eventually resulted in criminal prosecution for watchtower society administrators.. certain passages in this book were so anti-government as to represent the society's views as dangerous to national security.
(in a time of war.).
the blowback from this book was unexpectedly severe.

I was always taught that it was Christendom that got Rutherford et al put in jail and that it was a fulfilment of a profecy? And that it was the holy spirit that got them realsed?

Ok does anyone know of an android app that will hide a Mac address? If that's what I need? Hate the thought of the elders getting into my tablet even though I have got it password protected.

Well plenty of apps work off line so I think from here on I'm I will turn off the WiFi connection on my tablet so that it doesn't connect to the hall WiFi. If I'm reading text it will be very difficult for someone to see if its watchtower or not. And yea BTW the congregation does have the WiFi password at my hall.

Hmmm from your responses I wonder how many are sitting there actually looking at the jw library? Maybe not many?

Are we sure that the hall WiFi does not record what sites and apps are downloaded through it?

I've noticed about half my half are using these. Of course there's always the potential for people to be looking at things non jw on them. Are the society going to find a way to police this? It seems to be an area they currently don't have control over? Surely the last thing they want is half the hall playing games, writing emails and reading ebooks while at the meetings?! But could they stop it? And how?
BTW I have to confess to being one of those sneaky types myself! Well the choice is boring watchtower or fabulous new eBook.... No contest!
