Oh, big whoop! Much ado about nothing. There are plenty of legitimate complaints to this religion without bringing a human being acting like a human being to the fore.

Amazing how this organization has changed over the years. I am old enough to remember attending meeting in the late 50's and early 60's and there was not the money grab back then that the borg has evolved into today. Charlatans!

Just have retired after open heart surgery in July. I turned 62 in January 2014. Right now I am still recovering from surgery, but am looking forward to having better health than I have had for several years and a lot I want to do during retirement. I have 4 grandchildren and want to spend a lot of time with them while I can. They are the high point in my life. Also travel with hubby is big on my list. Life is good. I have been away from the borg about 8 years and life is very, very good!

My JW friend turned down the "privilege" of working the literature table at the park. Why?
by MissFit ini have written before about my jw friend that plays hookie with me on sundays.
we skip the meeting and go straight to lunch and margaritas.
she converted later in life and has been a jw for over 25 years.. she is in her late 70's and has had heart problems.

Your friend is 70 years old. She does not need any life altering revelations. She sounds to me like she is handing things just fine and if she is at peace with what she is doing and what she believes, more power to her. As far as all the scriptures that Perry quoted, what did Jesus say? Did he spout forth all this doctrinal nonsense? No, he said do unto others as you would have them do unto you. God knows our hearts and motivations. This lady sounds to me like she is a good person full of love and is all right with God. Kudoes to her and to you for being her friend.

Who would say that there is no "evil slave" besides the evil slave?
by berrygerry inquestion fit for blondie types.. happiness book:.
"19 one tactic that he has used is by encouraging the view that there is no devil or satan.
he is like a criminal who spreads the idea that a crime syndicate does not exist, thus lulling persons into a false security.".

Has the Watchtower said there is no evil slave? They are indeed an evil slave themselves, but I suspect they would not deny the existence of an evil slave. They would just point their fingers at someone else.

Copy of my DA Letter
by airborne inthis is my first time posting here, although i have been a visitor to it for around a year.
after doing a simple google search under "jehovah'switnesses" over a year ago, i found ttat.
i was deeply unhappy with the congregation and decided to educate myself, and boy what an education i have gotten so far.

Marvelous, marvelous DA letter. Short and to the point - states your case very well and should be thought provoking to the elders (should be but may not secondary to their degree of brainwashing). I am going to keep a copy for future reference.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses THAT Bad?
by minimus ini'm not fond of any religious fanatic.
islamic fundies can be downright crazy.
mormonism seems silly to me.

I agree with you, Minimus - it is a crap shoot. I have been lucky in that I have been pretty much left alone. When they did bother me some, it was while my mother was still alive and she was trying to get the elders to come bring me back in the fold. Now she is gone and while I still have family in, they have their own lives and I have mine and while we do talk some, we don't really have a lot to do with one another.
Oh, yes - I have attended church services at the Catholic church with my husband. I really think that would be ignored by the local congregation if they were to know, but I could be wrong. I have not tried to hide it; I am just living my life with no concern for them.

Taken as a whole, the organization is horrible. But if you look at individual people, you will always find some misguided souls who truly believe the tripe, but are very loving, caring individuals. Actually many who are like that do realize something is wrong, but would never speak out because they still believe it is Jehovah's organization.
That being said, the Watchtower organization teaches arrogance among their members and as so many of them already have mental/psychological issues and suffer from low self esteem, they snatch right on to this mindset. It validates them as people if they can be arrogant and look down upon others, many of them having been looked down upon at other times in their life. Those are the converts.
Then you have also have the born-ins; they have suffered from mind control all their lives and are brainwashed. If they begin to see the light, they are afraid of losing their families. If they do not see the light, they also can be arrogant, though I think in this group you are more likely to find those I mention in my first paragraph - misguided souls who truly believe the tripe but are loving, caring individuals, though sometimes realizing there are some things that are wrong, particularly when they are old enough to have seen the many changes the Watchtower Society has gone through.
Of course, you can also see some loving, caring, albeit misguided individuals in the convert group also. But I do feel the above patterns are a reality.

Photo op only. I am sure he has too much sense to get involved in the cult. Wish we had like buttons on here. I would love to put one on the picture of the Watchtower. Good one! The governing body one was pretty good, too, but we don't even want to go there.

Seriously, in some areas the J-dubs are so unsophisticated that they would not know a bad wine from a good one. I always heard someone took it home to drink.
