GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY! Do lots of research. Pick the 5 most unrefutable points. Make very short and consise notes. Memorize them so they don't see a piece of paper in your hand when they come back and realize that you've been studying. Bring them up in a very conversational, and casual manner. You can move from point to point but refuse to change the subject from your points of contention untill they have satisfactorly addressed your issues.

On a similar note.....My step-daughter has two sisters across the street that she likes to play with. Their mom is a devout Catholic, not so much the dad. Poor bastard, immagine his homelife. But I digress. I asked the girls one day if they had seen Lord of the Rings yet. They informed me with heads hung low that they were not allowed to watch it. These books are magical and are a wonderful part of my life. I have read the trilogy several times over and the movie was an excellent adaptation of the book. My step-daughter loved it and went with me to see it a second time. I've even read some of the books to her. And these poor girls get to go to school and tell everyone else "my mom won't let me watch it" while all the other kids are talking about how great the cave troll was. Now the dubs don't want their kids having anything to do with Pokemon? Religion is great for kids, doncha think?

Tally, I agree with you. I don't know whether a god or gods exist, I can't prove that one way or the other. So I won't say he/she/they isn't/aren't there. If I had to put my money somewhere, I'd bet on the nonexistance side, but I just don't know. If one does exist, I have a lot of questions that I'd like answered. He/She/They would have a lot of explaining to do.

I KNOW THE ANSWERS! LISTEN TO ME AND BELIEVE! The reason for all the suffering is that God has let himself go. He started out simply smoking pot (look at the platypus and the dodo bird) but it has lead to more hard core drugs. He's laid off of acid, but he can't seem to kick the special K and crystal meth. His mind is always on his next fix. We're on our own folks and will be until the big G checks himself into the nearest Betty Ford clinic.

1. God punnishes every human for the mistakes of two people.
2. God lets Job suffer thru living hell and allows the deaths of his family simply to prove a point.
3. God says he is going to destroy Soddom and Gomorah if 100 good people are not found. What if there were 99? Oops, tough shit for the 99 good people. He has to be convinced by a human to lower the number.
4. God picks a nation of people to be his chosen, the rest of the world watch out. Even if you're a good person, if you're not the right race, you're screwed.Mav, just because it's in the Bible doesn't mean it's the thing to do.

I think the JWs are their own cure. Reading things like the "CO = apostle" post, it seems to me like the WTBTS is continuing to grow more and more drunk with the power it possesses over it's subjects. I think that they will make more and more outlandish claims and that their predictions will become less and less vague, and therefore harder to explain away their failure. They are like a child, if you can get away with one thing, then try getting away with more. They have gotten away with so much madness in the past and in the present that soon they will be saying that the head of "The Society" is Jesus reincarnated and other things just as rediculous. Everybody has their own line. For those of us who left, they crossed that line. As they continue to seperate from reality and the obvious, more and more lines will be crossed. I predict that there will be a mass exodus before they even realize how bad they screwed up. By then it will be too late and too many EXJWs will be raising their voices for them to be able to stop the bleeding. Eventually they will be relegated to the status of a small, insignificant, and radical cult like Heaven's Gate with only a few die-hards too removed from reality to try and go back.

My question: Why does God never get any of the blame for this? Satan did not make humans grow old when they could have been eternaly youthful. He tempted Eve. Adam & Eve did not sentance billions and billions to disease and death. They ate fruit. Who punnished and entire species for something they had no control over? Who took from you and I and our parents and our children the dream of eternal disease-free youth and gave us instead aids, cancer, plague, arthritis, and death? God did this. God used his powers to impose this sentance on every man woman and child born through all time, save two. Where is his blame?
