Are There Good People Out There?
by LaurenM ineven though i'm no longer mentally a jw (i still technically am) i do recognize that there are some benefits to being raised one.
for example, the first (and only so far) wordly guy i was involved with had to smoke weed every day and got drunk all the time and that was his idea of fun.
i couldn't help but feel bad for him.

I think there are benefits to being raised in an "open-minded" JW home but there are sooo many very good people with very good intentions out there just as there are many good people in the org too. I know some dubs who were raised in 'loving ' homes but abused drugs and crack and alcohol and lived promiscuous lives. So your case doesn't prove anything. Bad people are everywhere. -

Meetings Are Really Getting Fun

As a Matter of Conscience, I Am Resigning from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Sail Away inafter listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.
as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.
i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.

Nice letter, but I doubt if they'll not announce it. They will announce it and they won't care about your legal threats. -

Geoffery Jackson Plan Against the Commission
by thedepressedsoul ingeoffrey jackson will attempt to df them all, shun them, take away their privileges, write a wt article on them, have the elders talk to them, their family cut off ties with them, read them watchtower articles, tell them they need to submit at least 10 hours per month etc... .
then, the "oh shit" look on his face moment when he realizes he has no power outside of his pinky ring club.

I think he will go with honesty. He will admit that there are flaws. He will do this just to "prove" to dubs that the org is very honest to worldly governments . the most honest of all religions. -

Why would Jesus have to ask God in the Lord's Prayer, to not lead us into Temptation, but deliver us from evil..?
by Tater-T in..... and then willingly be lead into temptation .
he knows that's how a good god operates, so the first thing he does when installed as heavenly ruler... .
he casts the ultimate tempter to the vicinity of the earth... so he can do it as much as possible.... has anyone ever noticed this flaw in the almighty ... he has to be told to do what is good , then doesn't do it ... man what a tool.. i guess he really does love us... lol.

Nice question. God is becoming like a fairy tale every now and then. -

The Case for Theism
by FusionTheism in"theism" here means "belief in a god" or "the worldview that an intelligent designer created the universe and life.
" ("god" here means a being with a mind who initiated and/or wound-up the universe, and designed life on earth)the most common claim that i see atheists making on twitter, is that "no evidence" exists in support of belief in a god.this post will remove any excuse atheists have for claiming "no evidence exists" in support of an initiator.
atheists can still reject this evidence as "weak," but they cannot truthfully say it does not exist.now, it is true that we do not have "observable, repeatable, falsifiable, empirical, scientific" evidence conclusively proving that an initiator exists, but we do have many lines of philisophical, experiential, and logical evidence.and... here... we... go:1:) many leading scientists, including stephen hawking, say that the space-time-matter universe had a beginning at the singularity/big bang.

It amazes me how atheists can be SO certain that there is no God. At least having an agnostic view is plausible. -

Rumor about the Imitate Jesus Convention
by FusionTheism ini saw a rumor a few weeks ago on reddit that the new imitate jesus convention is supposed to present new light and clarified understandings on the disfellowshipping/disassociation practices.. supposedly, if this rumor has any truth to it, there will be a talk given at the convention about how we should not be strict like the pharisees in how we shun people, loosening up some of the jw rules about this practice.. has anyone here heard anything about this or have more info on it?.

The regional convention is all about Jesus, compete with a music video presentation. This should be the beginning of the org becoming mainstream. No org can remain so rigid forever. The catholic church is an example. -

They might be driving me nuts
by stillin inthe "boasting session" last night included forcing the congregation to watch that stupid witnessing cart video.
then the brother handling the part discusses what a "powerful witness" is being given each time those carts roll out into public view.. experiences: had a nice conversation with a young man.
a woman took a tract.

why did man go from living 900 years to 90?
by sowhatnow ini cant recall the scripture, where it says than only a few men will he live to be 80 years or so, can anyone recall that?.
so then im wondering, if it is a fact that men lived long years 900 in some cases, for what reason would god limit our lifespan if our time is so short compared to his?.
how on earth does man go from living 8 and 9 hundred years down to 80 to 100 ?.
