my status is complicated...mostly by me!
i have a couple of admirers that would like to lock me down but i keep dancing around the whole issue.
Never married, but my partner and I just celebrated our 5th year of togetherness. I think it's significant that we don't live together-he has his place, I have mine. So, we can be together as much as we want, then retire to our own spaces.
No kids, either. I'm his baby, he's my baby, and two babies is plenty.

Valis-Sorry, no. I'm embarrased to admit, I'm not sure where Vinalhaven is, exactly. Downeast? I'm on the coast, between Wiscasset and Portland. I picked this town for it's proximity to Moody's Diner (lol!).

University of Maine at Augusta.......Go Moose!
In my final semester of studying for a degree in Business Administration. I only have one class left, which is Entrepreneurship. My favorite subject is anything business related, while my most hated classes were Algebra I and II.
I also work here part time as a writing tutor (believe it or not, I can be a virtuoso of the English language when I choose,) and administering placement exams for prospective students.
If anyone out there is wondering if they should take classes or not, please go check out your local colleges ASAP; you'd be amazed at how easy it is to enroll, and how much fun you'll have.
i was once told that john denver (folk singer of songs like rocky mountain high and such) was on the tonight show one night.
he was a huge patriot and apparently had no love whatsoever for jw's.
apparently as the story goes, john gets up to sing a patriotic song and before he begins tells the audience "if there are any jehovah witnesses in the audience, you may want to leave right now.

i have a favorite place down here in texas.
it's a little honky tonk, down near the river, and i go there, and i see all my neighbors, and visit with them.
I get my sodas at The Riverside, which is not really my crowd, but the 1840 Lounge (my favorite) closed a while back, and my town is too small to have a whole lot of bars.
And I get a chuckle from the fact that Riverside is the name of my old congregation, too.

No second chances on this stuff. If your dog attacked your grandmother, would you ever trust it again, no matter how nice he acted afterward? Would you leave it alone with your child, ever? You'd probably have it put to sleep.

i found this story, i almost pissed my pants laughing, who comes up with this,what drugs is she on, as much as i dislike the jehovah's witnesses, this story is too much.. she needs medical treatment !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

It sounds as though this lady has a mental illness. That's not a funny thing, it's horrible. I hope she gets the help she needs, and that you guys who are laughing at her will lose interest and go make fun of some cancer patients instead, or maybe someone with Parkinson's disease.
Oh, wait, I forgot that it's only socially acceptable to mock those whose illness is mental, not physical.
i just had a delivery from fed-ex , i accepted a package for my neighbor at her request since she wouldn't be at home.
the fed-ex guy looked confused as i opened the door.
i cleared up the confusion by telling him that since my neighbor was working, she wanted me to accept her package.
Codeblue, it really does hurt when you discover how little your "friends" truly care about you. I've not been to a meeting since the last memorial, and nobody has checked up on me. I'm a single woman who lives alone, so I could be lying here dead or something, but so what?
Anyway, I hope you know that if you disappear from this site, we'll all be quite concerned and will try to contact you to see that you're ok.
a few people have asked how jwd came about and what my own story is and while i've posted it in bits and bobs, i've never tried to tell it as a story so here goes .... living in suburbia.
i was born a jw to jw parents who had recently been missionaries / pioneers in ireland and taken literature into countries like spain when it was banned but who were now living in suburbia near to where they had both been brought up.
we lived in a new semi-detached house in a cul-de-sac at the bottom of a hill - fantastic for building go-carts and racing down !
I agree with seeitallclearlynow. I lurked here for about a month before I posted, mainly because I wanted to make sure this whole thing was not some wacky new cult started by Simon.
With as wondrous as the internet is (a community like this would not exist without it,) it can be a little impersonal at times. It's very nice to get to know each other, even across the big blue ocean that separates us. Thank you, Simon, for sharing your story with us, and for giving all us 'postates a place to call home.
