He was pretty brave to tell you this about himself, and he obviously trusts you a lot. You must have a good relationship with him. I hope all works out ok for you both.

Bi-Sexual
by misguided ini guess my new-found freedom of personal expression is working its way down to my kids.. i came home from a crazy day at work, ate my dinner, was loading the dishwasher, when my 13-year-old son says, .
"mom, i have something to tell you - i'm bisexual...i've been that way for a year now.
i still can't help but have my old jw brain at work, thinking this is not okay - kind of like, i'm an apostate with a bisexual son...what will my family say?!

All right, I'll be the cranky one on this thread:
My bio-father will get nothing from me, as that's all he ever gave me. Oops, I stand corrected- he gave me his bad eyesight and tendency to grow a chubby tummy- Thanks, Dad! Well, I'm sure the kids from his "real" family will send him a card or something.
On Sunday, I will hang out in my pj's and watch telly all day.

I don't have kids, but I can remember being one. At thirteen, most of us are full of hormones we have no clue what to do with. At that age, I for one was in a constant fever of sexual energy with nothing to focus it on. Your boy sounds normal.
However, and I don't mean to worry you, it's important to remember that humans are rarely ever 100% straight or gay. Most of us have a preference for one gender over the other, but it's normal to feel attractions toward both sexes, at least on occasion.

I like to think of myself as warm, gracious, tolerant, and kind. I try to make the world a better place through charity and volunteer work, to assuage a deep-seated guilt complex. I try to make the world a cleaner place, because germs frighten me. I tell myself these are signs of a strong character, and that I'm a good person. But here's how the people in my life see me:
Mom says I'm the coldest person she's ever met, the only person she knows who has no emotions.
My dub brother thinks I'm too wild, should get myself back to the k-hall and settle down. I haven't a clue what my perceived wildness involves, as I am always working or sitting at home reading.
My worldly brother has often told me that I'm too uptight, and need to "get laid and get high." Actually, a lot of people tell me that. I agree about getting laid, but wouldn't want to risk the loss of self-control that drugs might bring.
My friends think I worry too much. For the record, I squint a lot from poor eyesight, and my eyebrows are funny shaped, so I think I carry a falsely worried expression.
My boyfriend says I obsess too much over little things, and magnify them unduly. Well, that is pretty much the definition of obsessive-compulsive disorder, which I have, so I think he's right.
The students I used to tutor always said I was kind and diplomatic. Elderly folks I help out have used the word kind as well.
My cat seems to think I'm a nice person. Then again, he thinks that of anybody who'll rub his tummy and feed him.
All in all, I'm just a worrying, uptight woman who's trying to find a bit of calm in this world. Perhaps I'll be successful one day; in the meantime, I try to enjoy the journey. And although my fists are clenched tight and I can't say the words, my heart is flooded with love for my friends and family. I hope to be able to tell them all one day. Until then, I'm praying they will be able to tell that, under all these prickles, I too have a soft pink underbelly.

Danny Boy. It's an Irish flick starring Stephen Rea. He's a musician who witnesses a murder, and sets out to solve it. But it's way cooler than that; if you can find it, see it.
Run, Lola, Run. (German) I saw this in Films class at school, loved it so much I bought it. A very interesting story, with three different "what if" conclusions. The actress who played Lola (Franka Potente) was phenomenal- I couldn't take my eyes off her face through the whole movie.
Monty Python's Holy Grail and Meaning of Life. (British) Not very highbrow, I know, but these movies make me laugh so durned hard, every single time.
Diva. This one's from France, made in 1982. I won't even try to describe the plot, as I couldn't possibly do it justice. But the cinematography rocked, and the soundtrack had some surprises. Worth every frame of film.
Life is Beautiful. This one is Italian, and it's actually better to watch it in Italian and read the subtitles- the dubbed English version loses something, IMO. The ending always makes me cry, which I hate to do, but this movie is just that beautiful.

Ah, heck, I guess it's the woman's decision, and if she feels good about how she looks, it's her business. However, I do reserve the right to bust out laughing when I see some teenaged girl with all her business hanging out for the world to see, wearing too much eyeliner and hooker glitter, thinking it makes her lok like a sophisticated woman. Kids, for the record: it just makes you look like you're trying too hard, or that you're going to a costume party dressed as a crack ho.

Cook at home or eat out?
by greendawn indo you know how to cook, even just a few simple recipes, or do you hate the idea of home cooking and prefer to always rely on restaurants and take aways, or just prepare easy snacks like sandwiches and melted cheese on toast?

My bf likes to eat out, so when I'm with him, that's what we generally do. I'm extremely picky, however, and have mild OCD, so I'm more comfortable preparing my own food. I just can't bear the thought of people touching my food with their filthy, filthy hands.

Here's my theory:
There are lots of xjw discussion boards on the internet. They each have their own flavor, or personality. I have accounts on a couple of the others, but this is my usual hangout, because it suits me, generally. However, perhaps I want to talk about something more controversial than is generally accepted on JWD; in that case, I'll go to a board where it's more appropriately discussed. My guess is that, over time, people may simply gravitate toward sites that are a better fit for their personalities. There's nothing wrong with that, and I'm sure some have drifted over here after being shocked at the language and pictures at some of those other sites.

I remember dollar movie theaters, where older movies were shown for a buck. I don't think these places exist anymore. The real movie theaters were $5, and that seemed really steep for me. Now I think it's like $8.50 to see a movie.
I can't remember anything else, as most of the 80's are still a blur to me.

Ozzie's Weekend Poll #137
by ozziepost inso how's it been for you this week?
reading all the experiences this week has been a real cocktail of humor and tragedy, hasn't it?

Lordy, Ozzie, you've hit the nail on the head with this one. While the official reason given would likely be #1 (waste of field service time,) the real reason would be that it's too much fun. I mean, the hall ain't for socializing and snacking- it's for sitting for two hours listening to the same old re-heated blather from last week, and it's not meant to be fun!
Actually, when I was maybe 17 or 18, I tried to organize a coffee counter in the back. I worked nights, and it was hard for me to stay alert during the Sunday meeting, which was held at the equivalent of 3am to me. A quick cuppa joe would have been great, but the elders said no, it'd be "disruptive", and that next time I should run these ideas by my older brother (as I had no parents around) instead of bugging the elders with them.
