Any time you put a group of humans together in one place, you're going to have some predominately heterosexual people, some predominately homosexual/lesbian people, and some purely bisexual people. It's got nothing to do with morals or choices, it's just the way we are. So, I would assume that there were a number of predominately homosexual men at Bethel, (along with some bisexuals and mostly-straights with some homosexual tendencies who ended up in homosexual relationships partly because there were only other men to choose from.) I wonder why this information is important to have.

Whats the worst dish you ever served???
by Tez ini am a reasonable cook when i can be bothered (as paulj will hopefully confirm) but often resort to quick and easy methods, packet mixes, tins etc.. whereas my parner is a brilliant cook!!
leave him in the kitchen for a little while and he produces something from scratch that is delicious.
so today i decided to extend my culinary skills!

OK, everyone else thought this was awful, but I found it quite tasty:
I was going through a phase of combining foods based on their colors, and ignoring traditional ideas of what goes with what. A time of great creativity and dubious dishes. So, I sauteed a bunch of fresh spinach in sesame oil with some cumin seeds and slivered garlic. Then I added sliced, fresh apricots. It was so beautiful, the colors were just amazing together! Nobody else would eat it, but I tell you, it was good.

I can't decide. For heavenly vistas of verdant plains, shadowed forests, and azure waters, it's got to be Maine. Just coastal Maine, though, as the rest is all potato fields as far as I know. It's the most gorgeous place I've ever seen.
For music, art, culture, great food, etc., it's Austin, Texas. I guess I should make a lot of money and have a home in each state, that'd be pretty sweet.

MY NAME IS EARL
by Cygnus inlast night i downloaded the first two episodes of this show and the last time i laughed so hard was when i watched jay and silent bob strike back, a movie from 2002 which happens to include jason lee who plays two characters resurrected from past kevin smith movies, mallrats and chasing amy.. who else thinks this is the best thing to happen to television since seinfeld got really good?
if you're familiar with jason lee and mallrats, you can see some of his character brodie in earl.
the only thing that disturbed me was when i saw jason lee on carson daly's show and he said some disparaging remarks about movies he's been associated with, which makes me wonder if he's had a major falling out with smith.

I watched both episodes at my bf's house- laughed my tuckus off!
I see myself becoming seriously addicted to this show, which is cool, as I haven't had a good laugh since Chapell went off the air.

Think Stephen King has personal experience with JWs? (long read)
by AllAlongTheWatchtower indisclaimor:.
the following is text directly from a stephen king (under his pen-name of richard bachman) novel called the regulators.
if the mods must delete this for copyright or other legal reasons, so be it.

Mr. King is from my mom's hometown (yep, right up there by Danny Haszard.) Mom hung out with when they were kids, and she briefly dated his brother. As the gene pool in Maine is pretty shallow, especially up Bangor/Brewer way, he's probably very distantly related to me. I've met him a few times. I know for a fact that he's met and talked to plenty of witnesses; not only have they targeted him as a prime candidate for assimilation, but he, in turn, finds them entertaining to talk to. I never got the impression that he took them all that seriously, however.
Funny little story: My jw cousin met him a number of years ago at the place where we worked (Mr. King was there occasionally, being on the board of directors or something.) They talked a bit, and he ended up naming one of the characters in The Green Mile (one of the prison guards) after my cuz. It's a little-known fact that King puts real people's names in his books. All the people in Salem's Lot were kids he went to school with, and I think my mom's name was used for some chick who got killed.

Do Must Dubs Have Pre-Marital Sex?
by tall penguin init's not often talked about but in my experience a lot of witnesses have sex (or something like it) during their courtship.
and most of them never go to the elders about it.
recent case in point: my dear friend got married this past summer.

Boyoboy, do I love me some good coffee. I run a little joint that's a combination newsstand, smokeshop, Pagan-supply shop, and coffeeshop. The coffee I sell is the best on Earth- it's been my personal brand of choice for over a decade. The roaster himself delivers it to me in small batches, still warm from being roasted. I grind it just before brewing. My shop smells like pure, caffeinated heaven. I drink the stuff all day long, and I don't get the jitters. And no, that's not the cause of my insomnia, either.
When people tell me they're trying to cut back on their caffeine intake, I always ask "why on Earth would you want to do that?!"
Does anyone remember that coffee ad campaign from the 80's, where they said "Coffee gives you the serenity to dream it, and the vitality to achieve it?" That's now my motto.

Once I made a beautiful batch of gingerbread at my job (cooking at a college dorm.) Unfortunately, what I'd thought was powdered ginger turned out to be garlic powder in an unlabeled container. Since I had no sense of smell, I didn't have any idea. We figured it out before we served it, then on a dare from a coworker, I ate a piece. It was sweet and spicy and garlicky-mmmmmm!
