Cool. I thought he was mad at us or somethin'. Honestly, this board is not the same without LT's input, and it is good to hear that all is well.

tions about hello everyone, i'm new here,,,
by telltruth inhello everyone.
have recently met someone, amazing person!
however have many questions about jw's and wt.

For what it's worth:
I was an active witness when I started dating my non-jw man. With his support, I found the strength to leave the cult on my own. He always told me he loved me no matter what faith I was, and not to leave on his account- no pressure, just unconditional love. This contrasted so sharply with the hatefulness I was getting from other witnesses (they disapprove severely of anyone dating outside the faith) that I had no problem abandoning the witnesses so I could be with my man.
telltruth, in my opinion, if you really love this woman, don't abandon her. If she's willing to have a relationship with you, it means she's very likely disenchanted with the witnesses and is getting ready to leave them.

The March of Gay Rights
by truthseeker inbelow is an interesting editorial on the march of gay rights, how it got started, and how it's radical members seek to make changes in society.
the "story" has been omitted from this post due to length of article.

Oh, for pity's sake, here we go again.
If you don't like the idea of gay marriage, then don't marry someone of your own gender, simple as that. And as long as the gays aren't attempting to block my right to wed, then I shouldn't try to block theirs.

Chaperones
by Gretchen956 inrichie's thread got me wondering what ever happened to the practice of chaperoning???
i mean really, was this just a regional thing where i grew up?
we had to have a chaperone always with the opposite gender even if we were old!

Gretchen, I was told something quite similar, that I shouldn't have my big brother visit me at my apartment without chaperone! They used the scripture about the woman Tamar(?) who got raped by her brother or half-brother, I believe. I was profoundly offended that those old pervs would cast aspersions on my dear, wonderful brother. Ugh!
The chaperoning custom was in full effect at my cong, but I mostly managed to sidestep the issue by discreetly dating the "spiritually weak" brothas who didn't insist on bringing a third wheel. And no, we never found ourselves so overcome with lust that we couldn't control ourselves, but we were able to carry on a half normal conversation with each other.

Hi, all! I'm back online for now, although my living arrangements are still sort of up in the air. Just in case anyone was wondering about my sudden absence...
Anyhow, I'm trying to find an ISP for my bf, who frequently travels for his job. He needs one he can use in the US and in other countries he's in, such as Japan, Australia, and Spain. He was using AOL, but they're so expensive, and they charged him for time he wasn't online. This is the same bf I've mentioned in the past, so we've already established that he likes things that are cheap, fast, and don't demand a long-term commitment; I assume this holds true for internet service as well.
Any suggestions?

It is kind of funny, this idea of someone "acting gay." Of my friends who are gay and lesbian, I've seen everything from a very girlish-acting young man who wears makeup, to a guy who's probably the most macho, tough guy I know, straight or gay; a gal who likes to wear frilly, lacy dresses and has long curly hair, and another very cool woman who plays professional football, has a crewcut, and likes to get into fights with men in bars. They're all gay, and in their own unique ways, they're all acting gay. There just happens to be a lot of vaiety in human personalities.
The tough guy I mentioned once told me that he didn't act gay at all; I told him that having lots and lots of sex with young men he brought home, then bragging about it to me the next day over coffee, seemed pretty durned homosexual if you asked me.

#5. I generally dug it when someone had an interesting point to make, esp. if the information came from a secular source such as an encyclopedia or, in one memorable instance, the writings of Marcus Aurelius. However, it could be tiresome if it was just stupid, off-topic rambling from someone who just liked to hear herself talk about "Jehovah's wonnnnderful creation" at every danged meeting.
