What did y'all think about the Magician starving himself for 40+ days?!!
by Doubtfully Yours in.
what a nut!!!!
having looked at all the stunts he puts himself through, my jw beliefs come into play and i truly think he might be possessed by a demon that gets pleasure out of torturing the poor idiot.. would love to read your thoughts on this issue..

What a media circus it was, I watched it last night, and I think this guy thinks he is Jesus or something! I am prity appalled by it. People are starving out of no choice, and he did it for attention, there has to be something wrong with that. I hope he suffers from side affects as it wasn't clever but plain stupid and he deserves nothing for doing it. Sidney

What's your biggest phobia?
by luna inspiders!!!
i can handle any other bug, snakes, mice, etc....but get me near a spider, and i nearly have a breakdown.. this morning, i went to grab some clothes from the bathroom to wash, felt something crawling on my arm, looked down, giant, hairy, brown spider.
i still have the heebie-jeebies, and i probably woke up the neighbors.. *shudder*.

My Sister's Wedding - Good and Bad News
by kelpie inok.. firstly let me see i can explain this with out too much rambling..... for those who know me, know that i was disfellowshiped in june this year.
before this time, my mother, stepfather and sister shunned me.
since my disfellowshipping, i have not had contact with my parents and an occasional text message from my sister.. i found out last week that my sister was getting married on the saturday just gone (11th october) so i decided to give her a call on friday to wish her luck for her wedding.

Kelpie, I spoke to you in chat earlier I know how hard it is right now. Only go back if it was you believe in but don't go back in order to see your family again, you are not being true to yourself. Many many times in the early days i felt it would be better to go back in order to have my relationship with my family. but i wouldn't have been happy and just going to keep them happy is that the reason to go? My family are back in contact with me now but they are different with me now and it does hurt. Talk to them about how you feel they may also be thinking about the current situation after the wedding and be upset themselves. Then take it from there. Good luck Kelpie! Sidney xx

does anyone remember being a child as a JW and not having holiday?
by franklin J ini am curious to know how many others shared the same experiences as me as a child, growing up as a jw.. surfing this board has brought back a flood of memories ( i am secure enough to deal with them) not all good.
i have been away from jws for sometime, and remember being a child in school and having to explain why i do not salute the flag, why i have to leave the room when there is a birthday or christmas party, why i had to explain when i was seen going door to door ( i grew up to be a pioneer).
being "different" is hard for a child.. now that i have 3 children of my own, who are fortunatelly not growing up as jw, to see how secure and well adjusted they are in school is comforting.

I hated going into the school library when assembly was on as I could hear what was going on and it sounded good fun. So when I was nine I told my teacher that I could go in to assembly, which he seemed shocked at, so I told him I wasn't a witness anymore! Nearly a whole year past, I really enjoyed assembly, learnt some hymms! Parents evening arrived and my parents came home very cross, when my teacher said " how are you finding life now that you are no longer Jehovahs witnesses!!!" Needless to say I was back in the School Library again and had to pray to Jehovah for forgiveness for being a bad witness!
Now I have my daughter at school, and she is no different than any of the other children, I would hate for her to go through school as I did, being teased and bullied. She is a happy well adjusted child, what I should have been. Sidney

Have you tried to explain?
by anglise inhave you ever tried to explain to someone who has no religious leaning how you once truly believed that you could live forever and that now you are no longer a jw that certainty is gone, and how hard that is to deal with at times?.
the look of disbelief and pity that you get in return.. maybe thats partly why we need to talk so often to other xjw's.
whats been your experiences.. anglise

Alot of my new frends think it is really funny that I was a witness and say things like "but you are so normal!" It is difficult for them to understand what I have been through but they have been very simpathtic and supportive. But as someone else has just said, the only people who understand is ex witnesses and it is so nice to talk to these ones as they know and understand what you have been through. Sidney
