I looked on this site a year ago...I can really understand its appeal. You're stuck in a congregation or a circuit where everyone at some point has judged you, including any potential suitors. Gotta be someone out there, right?
Blondie:
None of the sisters I know/knew would spit in my ears if my brains were on fire. Breathing and baptized? If that were their only qualifications, I'd be way to busy playing tonsil hockey with the circuit to even think of posting.
ok, i'm sure this topic has been covered before, but i'm new here, so indulge me.
what do everyone's screen names mean?
some are pretty self-explanatory, but a few have me intrigued.
I love badgers...I've been told I resemble one...small, irritating, tenacious and cute.
i'm here to report that there's a nest of apostates gathered at my house right now!!!
we have calamityjane, arrowstar, dfwnonjw, six of nine, elsewhere, valis, big tex, cruzanheart (of course, since i'm posting!
), and badger.

Thanks for the wonderful time...I really felt at home. A loud, boisterous, alcohol-fueled home, but home to be sure. I also personally dug the Irony of attending a Sunday meeting and then having steak less than two hours later with you folks. Thanks for the invite.
Pencil me in for the next...Isn't it also about time you guys had an international apostafest?
one of the pressing issues in the california election is (as always) the presence of "illegal" immigrants who come into our country, work under the table, and send money home.. my position on this matter, since i am a republican, might surprise you, but i favor no immigration restrictions at all with mexico!
the mass immigration would solve many problems - there are many jobs, entry level and low-paying, that americans won't take because they don't pay enough.
fruit picking, for instance.
As a Native American, I favor the deportation of all illegal immigrants retroactive to 1492.
awhile ago when i heard that prince had joined the borg immeadiately i thought "man, what a waste of talent" and yes i do think that musically prince is very talented.
anyway, it got me thinking about how many of us wasted our time, money and effort in jw-ville.
an actor or actress, a singer, a famous writer?
I know several high caliber athletes...Another young lady my age (for whom I had a long unrequited love) was easily the brightest and funniest person I've ever known...she cleans houses and pioneers (although she did marry well). I mentioned during my high school days wanting to become a writer, get a degree for teaching or attend a tony culinary school. All were shot down for the pioneer and bethel plan.
They didn't care what you could do...just get a menial job to pay the bills, clean up at hall builds and coventions and don't think. That attitude is a travesty to God. I should ask his forgiveness for allowing a narrowminded group of jackanapes to convince me to squander my gifts that he gave me. I really hope I can make up for lost time.
At a summer convention, a little 10 y.o. robot was paraded in front of the stage and told his experience to the audience. He was supposed to receive a chance to play with a statewide grade school band, but declined to attend because it may feature military, patriotic or holiday music (understandable within the doctrine). They then offered to remove all objectionable music, and he still refused...It was on a meeting night. They even offered to MOVE THE DATE of the ENTIRE PERFORMANCE...he STILL said no...He wanted to go out in service that day.
The place went wild...I almost cried. I wondered how much he would kick himself in 10 years when he realized his gifts would never be used at all. The society doesn't need you to write, sing, act, create, perform, or imagine...Just try harder at what they say matters. Why does Jehovah give us these gifts if they aren't supposed to be used?
They must really be placed there by Satan to distract us....our God-given talents are Satanic curses!
I really am nauseous(sp) at the thought
Badger, of the Making-Amends-To-God-For-Wasting-His-Gifts Class
i have been thinking about that lately.
the last thread i started, william penwell wrote an excellent poem, which i enjoyed tremendously.. i have been writing poetry since i was 8 years old....i also write songs.. so how many of you are poets/and or song writers?
have any of you published your works and if so....any help on finding a publisher?.
I can personally vouch for Maybesbabies' poetry skillz.
i really hope to get a ton of responses for this topic, so even if you're just browsing through postings and topics, please add your two cents...however brief.
i am really curious to know who our "heroes" are, those people we admire, identify with, emulate and recieve inspiration from.
feel free to even list former heroes and perhaps why you were taken with admiration for them at that point in your life and maybe why you don't feel that way any longer.
*Ahem*
Miss tinkerbell? Turn to page 367 in your book and tell me why I'm not your favorite history teacher.

Hmm...by my counts, the ladies outnumber the gents 3-1.
And great ladies they are...Where were you in my old congregation? We coulda got Df'd together.
