New BOE Letter Re. Elders/MS Appointments and Deletions

from the wording of the letter it seems that the co has been given carte blanche with appointments and deletions.

nowhere in the letter does it indicate that any records are sent to and from the co to the branch office.

even if a body wants to delete an appointed brother and he disagrees his only recourse would be to write a "brief" letter to the service dept.

True. It seems that there is now a lot of awareness on the part of the WTS that it certainly needs to listen to its legal teem and cover their old butts, especially with all the new laws to make organizations more accountable and to protect the safety and integrity of the general public.

Now if it hits the fan with any lawsuits over policy as applied on an individual basis, the WTS will think that probably they can just say, “Oh, that really wasn’t our idea. I guess that Brother Circuit Overseer was kind of out on a limb there. You should go after him. Oh, and we should probably delete that Brother Circuit Overseer for misrepresenting us, just to be on the safe side.”

Would You Care If You Were Disfellowshipped?

Actually, considering all the contrived nonesense which is the WTS, I would consider it really a “badge of honor” to be disfellowshipped. It would show that someone is exercising their right to be a thinking and independent individual. Instead of denoting any kind of failure, it really just confirms a successful growth for the individual – a growth which is personal and even spiritual.

The WTS claims to be “progressive” (you know, moving ahead, light gets brighter). But daring to make the decision to stand up to them and become disfellowshipped, either through standing your ground or through sending an actual disassociation letter, I believe, builds character and shows an honest personal integrity.

Don’t fret over the perceived “stigma,” minimus. Instead of a stigma, it’s really something to be held up in high esteem as a “badge of honor.”

If You Can Get Out Of The Jehovah's Witness Religion---DO IT!

i realize some people feel they can't just leave the religion.

they have family, friends, position.. some elders mistakenly believe that they might be able to reform the cult from within.

the truth is, the religion is never really going to change.

“Captain Obvious”: “Is it better for me to continue loosely affiliated, hoping she starts to research? Do I push the issue more? Or do I quit going altogether, lose my one remaining (good) JW friend . . .”

Unfortunately, this classic dilemma is really not so obvious as to what to do. There are different factors for either side of the coin, and the solution is as deeply personal for the individual as it is unique in relation to his own circumstances and goals. This is definitely one area where one needs to literally “sleep on it” and “follow their heart,” doing what really “feels” best for them.

Perhaps one night you will end up having a dream where you see yourself dressed up in the formal “Hotels.com Captain Obvious” suit (like on the commercials) and actually tell yourself the answer in a nonchalant manner. It could be the eureka moment you need.

with the official letter from the gb to all bodies of elders, a stylized jw.org banner can now be appended to kingdom hall signage.. what an auspicious year this will turn out to be for the organization!!.

among other outcomes, the "link" with the old, baggage-ridden "watchtower bible & tract society" recedes into the background.

furthermore, now you don't pretend to need feet trudging door-to-door - your worker is done at the press of a few directed fingers.

There will always be many “parts” to the Internet which will ensure that the WTS will never be able to shed all that ridiculous and sh^tty past of theirs; for example, sites such as “http://www.a2z.org/wtarchive/archive.htm,” “http://jwleaks.org,” “http://jwsurvey.org,” “http://www.quotes-watchtower.co.uk,” “http://www.jwfacts.com,” etc., etc.

Exactly! And whether or not people are in or out of the JWs, and whether or not people are strongly warned/told not to, people will nevertheless sneak some “widened” searches and “secret” perusals, because, of course, that’s just the way people are – especially in private.

Just got off the elevator with Anthony Morris

at the international convention here i just got off the elevator with anthony morris.

he was heading to the basement and i was heading up to administration.

i rode one floor down with him before i went up to my destination.

WT victims memorial day--from i o wight--UK

flowers were attached to the gates of the kingdom hall--ryde i o wight uk today in memory of keith playford, who lost his life aged 28 for want of a blood transfusion.

he was survived by 2 daughters.

although this kh was no way connected with him--it is the nearest to his neice--who placed the flowers in his memory.. .

I would say that would be an excellent and most appropriate thing to do. There really should be at least some tidbits published in local “Life” sections and “Religion” sections of the newspapers, because by far the general population is unaware of this stuff going on right under their noses in their own communities.

Also, copies of both those photos should be sent to AAWA (Advocates for Awareness of Watchtower Abuses, at “http://aawa.co”), as I’m sure they could find some way to incorporate them into an item or two somewhere. Every little bit helps.

jw.org for the past year or so seems to have exploded onto the scene and going foward, to be the new name and face of the old tired and exposed jehovahs wittnesses, bible students, etc... and to the wbats for good reason!!!.

the .org in jw.org is just as important as the jw in this age of internet and information.

if you were to type jw.org or even jw alone into a search engine or directly into your internet browser (most people will type in jw.org into the internet browser, and be taken directly to the website) the first site to come up is of course the intended site, jw.org, and the websites following the initial jw.org site are uneventful, a law firm, media player, etc.

In theory – that is, according to the instructions from WTS – that is what they are supposed to do. But given all the things JWs do that they are not supposed to, at least in private, I think that it’s quite safe to say that those “18-35 year old” young folks will quite very likely discover and investigate those myriads of sites exposing TTATT.

I would imagine that at some point in time, pretty much all JWs would have done, or will do, some basic online search containing key words like “Jehovah’s Witnesses,” and then immediately get a glimpse of the items which come up pertaining to “Jehovah’s Witnesses” and “depression, mental illness, suicide, mind control, blood transfusion deaths,” etc., etc. It’s only a matter of time for them. And what they do with what they see comes up will be up to them – especially in their undisturbed private moments.

Like AMW’s John Walsh says, the WTS “can run, but [they] can’t hide.” Yes, I believe that, sure enough, everyone will get to see that other side of the coin, one way or another!

Stop being such an old fuddy-duddy. Those newbies should feel free to post their angle too.

My friend Charlie is always telling me, “You should just get out of that religion. Stop going to meetings. Your folks will understand.”

Then I keep telling him that I can’t just do that right now because I’m currently living with my folks. (Long story.) I keep telling him that I have already left the religion in my heart and that I will also leave it physically AS SOON AS I’M ABLE TO; i.e., as soon as I can pay off my debts so I can get my own apartment and live independently again. But my friend Charlie, who was also in the JWs from birth to about 20 years of age (he is 47 years old now), keeps telling me that I should just quit the religion, even though I am still currently living under my parents’ roof.

Charlie just doesn’t understand the dilemma which people in my situation face, with all their family members still in. It’s pretty frustrating trying to explain the concept of fading to someone who really should know better by now.

Anyway, I just had to vent about that. Sorry for that little bit of a rant.
