Tight Pants , a Bethel Bro replies

The tightest pants seem to be worn by professional ballet performers, male and female. (Not that I myself am into ballet, nor do I have anything against those who do, just in case anyone is wondering.) There was even a scene from the 1984 comedy movie called Top Secret!, where some male ballet dancers were lined up in a row and someone was walking along their bulging male packages. It was exaggerated, as it was of course a parody, but it served to illustrate just how tight and blatantly revealing the pants are which are worn in ballet performances. For those who would be so inclined in the powder-puff category, all I can say is, forget about watching the joggers – just try going to the ballet. (Not that I myself am into, um, “powder-puffery,” nor do I have anything against those who do, just in case anyone is still wondering.)

New requirement to become an Elder or Ministerial Servant!

it has been a few months since i hear this from an elder.

he said that the c/o told them this new requirement.. "men that wanna be an elder or ministerial servant has to go out to field service on sundays.

if there is an elder or ministerial servant that is not going out to field service on sunday can lose the priviledge".

The only thing that comes to my mind is that the WTS policy recommends that elders and ministerial servants get at least around ten hours field service each month, but there is absolutely no written stipulation I have ever seen regarding Sundays, or any other days of the week. In other words, all they care about is elders and ministerial servants getting a recommended “healthy” number of hours, but I don’t think anyone really gives a sh^t what days of the week it is. There has to be somebody made available to take the service groups, including Sundays, whomever that may be on the assigned rotation. But, of course, it bodes well for anyone to be seen by the top brass in the congregation whenever they do go out in service, because, after all, that is what it’s really all about (i.e., a human organization made up of men).

i've been a lurker for quite some time and enjoy the forum.

i've reached a point in life where i don't argue ideologies anymore so i don't have much to say.

i've been out for decades and believe i've been mostly de-cultabilized (if that's even a word).. my family is still in and i haven't had contact with them in years.

Welcome, “TheMark,” to the JW discussion board! It’s the best of its kind, for sure. (I’m sure the head guy, Simon, would heartily agree.) It’s always encouraging and satisfying to see more and more people streaming to – I mean, FROM – the WT (the “mountain of Jehovah,” as they see arrogantly themselves). I see you’ve been lurking here for close to eight months already. That’s certainly enough time to get quite an eye-opening education in the real truth – that is, the truth about the truth (“TTATT”).

The classic, must-read books for us folks at the beginning of our awakenings are Raymond Franz’s Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom. (Absolutely superb!) Another good classic is M. James Penton’s book, Apocalypse Delayed. A most poignant one which is extremely well researched and absolutely, completely blows to nothing the WT’s 607 BCE / 1914 CE nonsense is Carl Olof Jonsson’s The Gentile Times Reconsidered. I’ve read all those books, and I couldn’t imagine anyone with half the number of neurons of a housefly still believing in that WT governing body after reading any one of them.

We need to keep exchanging mutual support through forums such as this, because the cult indoctrination persists on a deep subconscious level for many years even after one has left the WT organization. I find that the fear, anxiety, and shame doesn’t just go away overnight – especially for someone like myself, who was born into a strongly JW family in 1966.

I’m looking forward to seeing your posts, and we would all be interested to know just what made you wake up and realize that the WT teachings just don’t add up. Take care.

This is sickening, for sure: Here is an actual copied and pasted email I received from a friend of mine since grade seven senior public school – we’re 48 years old now – regarding the Montréal Gazette newspaper article about Anthony Morris III’s tirade against spandex pants [WARNING: Get a puke bucket ready]:

“You seem to have missed the point. Trying to look as close to the worlds fashion as possible, is the danger. Why do you think Jehovah had his people use a fringe with blue thread. Despite what people say and would like to believe you can not simple say and do what you want. Jehovah's standards are higher than ours. We are surrounded by a world so messed up because they feel their individual standards are just fine.”

Now, I should let you know that this person has always purported to be a fine Jehovah’s Witness – BUT, you all should know that this is the one and the same guy whose photograph was actually on the front page of the local community newspaper shown holding a bullhorn leading a high school student protest; was in a tent drunk and f^cking some bimbo WHILE HE WAS DATING HIS FIRST WIFE; was dancing like Madonna to her song “Like A Virgin” at a CC’s restaurant so disgustingly that my best friend Charlie was overwhelmed with embarrassment . . . . Now, THAT is the same “superstar JW” who sent me the above email reply. What a f^ck’n hypocrite!

Lowering the standards: The sign of a cult struggling for survival

many of the recent changes in the jehovah's witness organization are a clear sign of a cult that is struggling for survival.

the internet has change the scenario in a very dramatic way.

many of us who for years struggled alone with doubts and cognitive dissonance thinking that we were the only ones, that we, as individuals were the issue, now know that there is a large community of individuals who see the organization as what it is, a mind controlling cult that is not only false, but also dangerous.. the governing body clearly understands the consequences of this awakening.

Here, here! I’m glad that the GB members are showing their faces around in person and on the Internet, because it gives the world all the more opportunity to see just what clowns and charlatans they really are. Their message now seems to be, “Don’t worry so much about being able to explain our basic theological doctrines, and don’t even worry so much about the preaching and teaching work – just as long as your socks and pants are properly in order.” What a dickhead you are, Anthony Morris III. If that is the best you’ve got, you should change to another profession. May I suggest circus clown.

in order to not be subject to such a foolish idea that guys should be a ministerial servant by the time they are 23, [which is entirely not up to them btw].

even though jesus wasnt even baptized till he was 30 and he was way more knowledgeble, .

[god i wish i could spell check on here] were going to have a whole lot of young people getting married before the guy turns 23 i suppose.. or a lot more 'worldy' people getting jw mates.. because using my logic, which is usually questionalble, lol, id be the girl who would hury and date someone right out of high school.

Or, what should really happen is that a lot of young JWs should get married early to a NON-JW. Then, they will sort of have one foot already in the “world,” which would make it all the easier to work toward a complete fade from JW land. That way, they couldn’t actually be disfellowshipped just for marrying “out of the truth” (well, perhaps just a “shepherding call” or two), and by the time they can get both feet in the “world” (the real one, that is), then more likely no one would notice.

my neighbor told me she had been talking about me recently.

"i was saying to carrie in the office i just don't see how anyone can deny the existence of a higher power.

Looking at this from a purely scientific, psychological, anthropological perspective, it is really just a common example of “superstitious behavior.” It’s the same internal mechanism of the human mind which drives people to make a bloody sacrifice to “the gods” to make it rain, or to blame some “devil” or “demon” when things go wrong. I like to read between the lines and see the forest of trees as a whole in understanding human behavior as enigmatic yet advanced biological functioning.

I think that it’s great that the GB members are being more prominently exposed and well-known as celebrities among the JWs, as well as appearing more and more on YouTube and in various newspaper blogs. It just creates all the more occasions for them to inevitably put their feet in their mouths. (Spandex is evil? Really now!)

And their new TV studio is a good thing too, because I think that it does more to show the world just how out-of-touch and ridiculously backward the WTS really is. Maybe next they will include a regular segment of their show just for the kids, sort of like a modern-day Mickey Mouse Club: Stephen “Rubber Face” Lett could put on some kind of corny sock puppet show for the kids. Mark Sanderson could do some juggling act. Geoffrey Jackson could paint and suit himself up as a clown, blow up wiener balloons and twist them into little poodles. Maybe they could even have Samuel Herd do some tap-dancing like Arthur Duncan on the Lawrence Welk Show – complete with the accordions and a soap bubble blowing machine.

Yes, indeed, as far as all the goofy antics of the GB showing up everywhere now, I say, Bring it on. The ship is sinking, so might as well send in the clowns!

Will Elders Still Perform Marriages If The Sister Doesn't Marry At Least A Ministerial Servant?

based upon the last big meeting this past weekend, would it be proper for an elder to perform a wedding ceremony if the brother is not at least a mini servant?.

If a couple in good standing is actually denied marriage just because the brother is not a ministerial servant, then the couple should definitely go to a Catholic church and get married there as a big F-you to the WTS! They would have every right to do so, and if they end up getting disfellowshipped as a result of it, then they should have an article about their experience printed in the local newspaper. That would only be fair. How dare the corrupt WTS try to enforce their kooky little rules on people even more than before!

To “AnnOMaly”: Thank you for your clarification. You’re absolutely right. It was Raymond Franz who was the one commissioned by the GB to take a fresh look at the 607 BCE teaching as part of his compilation of the Aid to Bible Understanding book. Carl Olof Jonsson was simply researching an enquiry he came across from a householder in the field service – and he certainly did quite a fine job of it! When he decided to show his findings to the GB, they weren’t too thrilled with the results of his research – and for good reason, as it completely took out the 1914 card out from the bottom of their little house of cards. My hat is off to Ray and Carl – they were two men with balls of steel and hearts of gold.

To “game1914over”: Great pick for a user name. That name is the real truth – and a most bitter truth to swallow for the WTS!
